It was a longish wait, but I was excited because someone else waiting said it was worth the wait. Got home, opened the containers, and was so disappointed. The duck is all bones, no meat, greasy and poorly cut. The honey bbq pork is decent but nothing to rave about. They forgot my rice with my green beans which are also super greasy. $30+ for 2 subpar dishes. I'm so sad. Maybe the other food is decent, I dont know. Pretty darn good food here. Went on new years day and it was packed up through at least 3pm. Had half a roasted duck which was extremely flavorful and juicy and tender. The spicy eggplant which really is not spicy. Other than the eggplant being a tad too mooshy, it was tasty and had bamboo shoots too. Also had the spicy beef udon stir fry. Yummy. The beef in this dish was sooo tender and I wasn't even thirsty afterwards. It's pretty cramped inside when it's busy. They serve whole duck hanging and can be bought to go. Finally writing a review after coming back for the third time. Perfect for a rainy day, hungover, or when you miss your moms cooking ! The mapo tofu and fried rice is so good here. I've yet to try everything on their menu and I love that it's fairly affordable + huge portions. The atmosphere of when you dine in is very comfy and relaxed, hence why so many college students frequent here lol. In my 2 years at UCR, HK BBQ House kept me alive and running. In a city where your options are fairly limited, HK BBQ House was always my go to. The quality and home feel in each dish gave me hope in the dystopian city that is Riverside. Their soy sauce chicken and roast pork is a gift from God himself.
