This is an authentic Cantonese restaurant, Hong Kong cafe style. Service was efficient and fast; the total experience was very pleasant. It still says ZiZi BBQ House on the outside but they have a big Grand Opening sign right under it. They just opened in May and I can't believe it took me so long to find out about them. When we got there they just opened but were they busy already. Lots of people ordered for pick up and the orders were lined up waiting in their plastic bags. There were people eating there too. We ordered: WHOLE ROAST DUCK 29.95 -- juicy and delicious, this is the main reason we rushed over and it was well worth it. You can get half a duck for $17.95 H.K. STYLE ROASTED CRISPY PORK 18.95 -- delicious but came in a smaller portion size than I expected. But so delicious and thinly sliced for a perfect bite. I couldn't wait to eat it and was munching on it all the way home. Eat it quick because once it's cold it's congealed and no longer crispy. YANG CHOW FRIED RICE 12.95 -- perfect match to our meal. This was delicious fried rice and I could have eaten it by itself and be satisfied. 07.18.2022 CURRY FISH BALL (10 PCS) 8.95 -- highly recommend! If you like curry, this is a delicious snack. Has a little kick and very creamy. I cut it in smaller pieces so it gets better curry coverage. BEEF CHOW FUN with DARK SAUCE 12.95 -- sadly, I wasn't a fan. Not that it's not good but because there are so many other delicious options here. SOY SAUCE CHICKEN 14.95 -- it was a little bland for me but my husband said that's how it's supposed to taste like. I was craving some HK flavors, and luckily this place is available for us to try. The moment we entered, we knew this place would be good because of the bbq fragrances filled up the entire restaurant. Remember that most of the food here is shareable size, so order accordingly. My husband and I ordered the hot and sour soup, noodle soup combo with two meat items, bbq pork and duck, and the beef chow fun. It is very filling. I love that they are very accommodating here. Yeah noticed other comments mentioned they have yet offered the milk tea, but I gave it a try anyway, and they do have it. And the best thing was it is REFILLABLE. Just yet, be on the menu. The host also let us know their lemon iced tea is available for order. The atmosphere here is very casual, and the updated interior does remind me of Hong Kong. It was a really cold Thursday night, so a soup was exactly what I needed to fulfill that coldness I was feeling. We were seated immediately and given a few minutes to decide our orders, but we both ended up going with soups. Every time we've come here, the service has always been a little off. This time, it took 20 minutes for us to get our soups just for them to turn out lukewarm. Why were we waiting so long if they're not going to be coming out hot? The entire restaurant cleared out before they were able to bring our food out. I would understand if it was a bit busy, but by the time we got our food, everyone had already finished eating and left while other people were starting to come in. The BBQ Pork here is no joke, it's pretty amazing. The wontons were also super chewy and flavorful. The soup itself was okay-- would have liked it more if it came out hot. It also took 15 minutes to flag down a staff member to pay the bill. It wasn't that they were ignoring us, they were just all in the back? There wasn't a single server to be found for five straight minutes. I've come here for the meat and veggie stirfrys before, and I think that's what I'm going to be sticking to from now on. I always get so excited whenever I find new Asian food spots in the IE. I've def had my hopes let down in the past, but this one did not disappoint. They have a pretty extensive menu, we got the beef udon, roasted duck on rice, and won ton soup. The beef udon was solid, I definitely want to try the beef chow fun next time. The roasted duck was savory and tender. Plus, the glass case with roasted ducks on display totally reminded me of my childhood. Every time I come here, the service somehow gets worse. I had to wait 20 minutes for service once I was sat. No drinks were even offered! The table that was sat after me, was served before me. Food and service were great. I took my mom here for her birthday and although she may be hard to please, she really loved it.

I've been coming here since they've opened a couple years ago and I don't know why I forgot to review this gem. This place offers roast duck and crispy pork in the window, reminiscent of my hometown in MPK. The quality is pretty good and delicious (even though I can't really find too many other places that offer the same thing, it's still juicy and well-flavored). My only complaint is that I like mine less fatty, but that is a personal preference. Price range to portions is pretty fair given the low competition - I want to say it's not possible on a low school budget on a daily basis, but once in a while isn't bad. I've tried a lot of items on the menu from the crispy pork, seafood tofu (this is a clay pot item), roast duck, Chinese broccoli or broccoli beef, honey walnut shrimp, etc. I've probably tried maybe about 40% of the menu at this point. Overall, I love the flavors and it's pretty authentic. There are items I like better in other restaurants like the honey walnut shrimp (though they do a decent one here), but it helps get my fix when I'm homesick and can't make the drive 1 hour away. It does seem like they use MSG, especially pork chop with spicy salt, but it's less (varying levels) for everything else. My bf loves this dish and he was anti-MSG prior to this restaurant. I generally find it rare for him to not order this. Our staples besides the pork chop listed above are mapo tofu, broccoli beef, snap bean beef (I really like my vegetable fix and this restaurant is the only way my bf is going to eat any vegetables because they are so good), and some chow fun. They are also very attentive and nice - they interact with their customers and definitely remember their regulars! One even greeted me at Mokkoji Shabu Shabu! Treat those ladies running the front of the store respectfully as they are very helpful and pleasant and I'll be very sad if they are upset :( read more

We came here for lunch. You need to get a parking ticket and if you leave the parking in less than two hours you don't have to pay for parking. The place wasn't crowded so we got seated immediately. We asked for water and decided on three wonton soups and the beef chow fun. When our meals arrived, we were surprised at the size of the soup. You can see the hot steam coming off the soup as they served it. I was a bit cold and wished that I ordered soup too. My beef chow fun looked enormous in size. It was tasty and my regrets soon dissipated. I made the right choice. Our family enjoyed our lunch here. The AC was on, but that's ok. This is a delightful place to have a good bowl of wonton soup and you won't be disappointed with the beef chow fun either. read more

This place is the true definition of a hidden treasure ... and in of all places, Riverside! If I was blind folded and brought to this place, I could have sworn I was enjoying awesome food at some restaurant in SGV. Everything I ordered was superb! Honestly, I found this place to sit out traffic and really didn't know what to expect as far as the quality and taste given I was in riverside. When I saw the ducks hanging, I had to try it just for trying sake with no or little expectation ... and the flavor blew my mind! Probably the best roasted duck I've had since moving to this area 9 years ago from the east coast. Flavors were bold and so very much enjoyed! Another dish I ordered was the shrimp and eggs, which is simple but I've had versions of it in Alhambra and Rosemead that were just so over cooked. Here however, it was cooked to perfection! Silky and soft as it should be. Just WOW! The seafood chow mein was tasty, but I prefer the noodles a bit crunchier. Next time I will make that a request. However, the flavor and seasoning were on point and I truly enjoyed it. Portions are very generous and much appreciated, especially for the quality and freshness of the food that was delivered. I will definitely be back to try out the other menu items, as I glanced and saw many more of my basic favorites on there. The food and service was good. I ordered the Sweet and Sour Honey pork and a order of spring rolls. The meat was really good, but the spring rolls were "meh". So I did have a issue with a transaction, but the manager took care of it. Upon me signing my receipt, I left the line blank, instead of putting "0" for a tip. Well someone there, took it upon themselves, to give their self a $4.33 tip. My total was $21.04, but my card was charged $25.97. I went the next day and showed my receipt, as well as the charge on my card. The manager handled it, and refunded me the extra money I was charged. I love HK BBQ and I LOVE HK cafe food. I grew up with these flavors and I am BEYOND thrilled to find this gem. This review is rating their food after being delivered from a food delivery app. I've no idea what the parking situation is like or what the restaurant itself looks like. I got the BBQ pork wonton noodle soup to go and it totally HIT THE SPOT. The BBQ pork was juicy, nails that HK BBQ flavor but wasn't super fatty nor was the seasoning overdone. It's just delicious. The noodles are egg noodles, my favorite, and cooked perfectly. It wasn't soggy in the take out container. The wontons are filled with pork and shrimp. It's light, delicious and I can taste the ginger in the filling. The broth just really hit the spot. I have no idea how to describe it besides it reminds me of when I was a kid growing up and eating at HK cafes with my family. 100% would get this again but, now that I know how delicious this was, I want to try all the things. read more

Super convenient place to UCR. I came in to have their wonton noodle soup and was not disappointed. The employees were very attentive and I sat and ordered all in a timely matter. The menu features many dishes from meat dishes, soup, rice, seafood, and noodles. They also had roast duck and I believe roast pork. Their wonton noodle soup was so good. The broth was clean and flavorful. The portion size was also perfect; will keep you full for a decent amount of time. The noodles were also cooked to perfection! The wontons were also generously filled and had shrimp and I believe pork. I added a bit of white pepper to make the soup taste even better. I would highly recommend this place. This place is a surprisingly excellent Chinese restaurant. The bbq pork is tangy, sweet, and juicy unlike a lot of the dry tasteless junk I expect from dim sum restaurants. The filet mignon is a lot like black pepper beef and was also very richly flavored with a tender texture. I did not like the roasted duck here as much, I've definitely had a lot better in that department up in the Bay Area. I was a long-time customer of the Zizi's BBQ that used to be in this location, so I was sad when it closed down. Fortunately, the replacement restaurant is still high quality, authentic Chinese food, with more of a focus on Cantonese food instead of Sichuan food (which you can get a few doors down at Frice anyway--in fact, I think the owner of Frice bought Zizi's and changed it to avoid cannibalizing business). For those who don't know, Sichuan food is known for its spicy dishes, whereas Cantonese cuisine tends to be lighter and is well known for its BBQ pork (cha shao) and roast duck. To be honest, you can find many of the same sorts of things on both menus since Chinese restaurants in the U.S. have to be a bit generalist. The decor is pretty standard for Chinese restaurants but everything is at least new and clean. The staff are Chinese but speak English so no worries about communication issues. The menu is diverse and on the expensive side, but that seems to be the trend with Chinese restaurants these days (expect to pay about ~$15 per dish, instead of the older $10-$12 price range). In short, authentic Cantonese/HK style Chinese food with decent sized portions if a bit on the pricey side. read more

My wife and I absolutely loved this place. Had the half duck, chicken lo mein, salt & pepper pork chop, mapo tofu, and fried dumplings. Everything was delicious. My 2yo toddler also loved the food. Everything was legit. The roast duck was really authentic. I would want the mapo tofu spicier, but that's just my preference. The food took a bit long to come out. We came on a Saturday night and it got packed pretty quickly. I think they might want to staff up on cook staff perhaps? The place was really clean, the lighting was great. The atmosphere wasn't too loud either. If you want food to go, I recommend calling beforehand. We saw some people wait a really long time for their food. Other Thoughts - It's probably not great for big groups more than 6 people. They had a high chair for my kid, but not sure how many high chairs they have available.
