Was skeptical about it but the flavor explosion you'll have the first time you try it is crazy. The HK style pork aka char siu is something I always order whenever I go. The wonton soup is something I was surprised with as well seeing as I had been let down with other places quote on quote wonton soup. Their wontons are definitely packed with pork and shrimp and the broth is delicate yet packed with flavor. Something you'd want when you're feeling under the weather. Service is impeccable, even though English isn't the owners first language, they always seem to get the order right. The owner always has a smile on her face and now that I've been there a few times, always greets us as if we are coming into their home. We are definitely in need of more authentic asian restaurants like this. I have ordered a few items here, but my favorites are the dry beef chow fun and green beans. The chow fun is a large portion and the green beans are very flavorful. We tried the kung pao chicken and it wasn't my favorite, but it was decent. The seafood crunchy chow mien was good, but just hard to eat as take out. Next time, we will definitely try eating in the restaurant. The service is always quick and the employees are nice. I was so happy to find that there was a place close by where I could enjoy traditional Chinese food, and Chinese style family dinner without having to head to Los Angeles. This location is small and very unassuming, located close to the University of California Riverside. It's located right in the university village near 7/11. The location was relatively clean, for a small mom and pop resturant. Service was fantastic, they were very kind and attentive. And the food was prepared relatively quickly. We ordered salt and pepper shrimp, pepper chicken, sauteed vegetables, fried rice, beef lo mein and a few other dishes. Thankfully this place also doesn't charge more based on meat. To be honest it is hard to say which item was my favorite. I highly recommend the sauteed green beans. They were one of he most delicious and unique dishes I ever experienced. I also loved their passion fruit iced tea. It had real passion fruit because it had the seeds from the fruit in it. It was a tad sweet, but still enjoyable. Pros: Great food-- BBQ items are distinctly better than BBQ you can buy from the deli at Asian groceries, and not that much pricier. Price is worth it for the BBQ. Made fresh to order. Nothing tastes stale or old. Diverse menu. Features great breakfast items (bolo bao and HK style french toast) in addition to all of the savory items you'd expect. Cons: Service is AWFUL for takeout. I've decided to only eat here dining in. If you get takeout, you'll see dine in customers walk in, order, get served, and finish eating and leave all before you've gotten your order. Most items are considerably pricey. I think it's worth it for the meat, but other dishes such as the noodles are not a good value. Lacking in vegetarian/vegan options. I know it's a BBQ house, but the veggie/tofu dishes are disappointing. Even the mapo tofu doesn't have a vegan option. Other favorites are beef chow fun, crispy noddles, pineapple buns and HK milk tea. They have crispy noodles, these really good butter buns, and different chow mein dishes. I really liked watching the chef, who was working on some of the duck dishes. That seemed to be very popular! As I was looking around, a lot of people had ordered the duck. I opted for the honey walnut prawns, a chicken, chow mein dish, and a beef, chow mein dish, plus I tried those butter pineapple rolls, but next time I'll probably be ordering the duck!! Of all the preceding restaurants in this location this is by far the best! Featuring Cantonese, Hong Kong, and contemporary styles of Chinese cuisine it's a wonderful addition to the area. While we planned to try them it was after discovering nearby Frice was closed midday that prompted occasion. The menus are nice, partially illustrated and laminated in a spiral binding. The interior layout is great for parties of 2-8, and the portions ample enough to share. As usual, we ordered a number of items to sample, including beef with green beans in a wonderful brown sauce with lots of garlic, and onions. The beef was tender inside, cooked the equivalent of medium, like the quality filet mignon it's sourced from. Second up was Shrimp with eggs and chunky vegetables in lobster sauce. A looser sauce we liked the overall taste but felt it lacks a convincing lobster essence. Merely 'good' although the Shrimp were delicious. The chicken wings, however, are exceptionally good. Perfectly fried. There's a nice unidentifiable spice that's unique to, say, what Big Sky Bistro uses. Excellent choice! The side of green beans proved a bit redundant to the beef plate but they are so good, in a slightly different, spicier sauce, we enjoyed the leftovers the next day. Another standout, and we're going back for more after I finish writing this review, is their take on Egg Flower soup. Everything about it was great from large quantities of egg, to the broth. Just add white pepper to taste. Friendly staff, the restaurant is clearly popular with the UCR students as well. They're open moderately late most days and are closed on Sundays. read more

I am greeted upon entering and even if they are on a meal break the lady still greets me and helps if needed. There wonton soup (8pc) is meaty and a decent size. The broth is good, but not as good as ones in Westminster. The BBQ pork wonton soup is the same style with added pieces of pork on top. They also have whole roasted duck here for $34 ea. The food was tasty and delicious. The crispy pork chop was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of salt & pepper and five spice seasoning. It was topped with fresh crisp green chili peppers (not too spicy). The best part were the bright green onions and crispy garlic bits. Not at all oily like you would expect in fried dish. It was very lightly breaded, and so as you bite into the juicy tender pork chop, you first get that crisp light crunch, follow by a burst of that five spice seasoning flavor. Mmm! The seafood crispy noodle was good but nothing too special. The gravy sauce was good and the seafood was just ok not too much flavor but I think that's pretty typical for this dish. Adding chili oil or sriracha is a must to give another depth of flavor. The hot & sour soup was freshly made, hot, and well sour! It had a touch of red chili but not spicy and loaded with tofu, bamboo, wood ears, and eggs. Will definitely come back and try their bbq pork, duck, and wonton egg noodle soup. The downside was that kitchen seemed understaffed. The 25 min wait to get our food after ordering was not fun! Even the soup took that long to come out. They were busy with lots of take outs and the restaurant was packed. Need more chefs in the kitchen I think. Ambiance could be better. It was a really cold Thursday night, so a soup was exactly what I needed to fulfill that coldness I was feeling. We were seated immediately and given a few minutes to decide our orders, but we both ended up going with soups. Every time we've come here, the service has always been a little off. This time, it took 20 minutes for us to get our soups just for them to turn out lukewarm. Why were we waiting so long if they're not going to be coming out hot? The entire restaurant cleared out before they were able to bring our food out. I would understand if it was a bit busy, but by the time we got our food, everyone had already finished eating and left while other people were starting to come in. The BBQ Pork here is no joke, it's pretty amazing. The wontons were also super chewy and flavorful. The soup itself was okay-- would have liked it more if it came out hot. It also took 15 minutes to flag down a staff member to pay the bill. It wasn't that they were ignoring us, they were just all in the back? There wasn't a single server to be found for five straight minutes. I've come here for the meat and veggie stirfrys before, and I think that's what I'm going to be sticking to from now on.
