Came in for an early lunch on a Monday at 11:30 with my parents. I had seen an old menu with lunch specials but they don't have it anymore, I guess because of COVID. To start, they give each person 4 different banchan plates - kimchi, seaweed, pickled daikon, and soy bean sprouts. It was nice that we each had our individual set. For food, we decided to each order something different, so we could try a little bit of everything. We had: -Japchae - this was a HUGE portion. But, it was a bit too salty. The flavor was good though. They also jam pack it with lots of veggies and beef. I would recommend it but maybe just ask for less salt, if possible. -Beef bibimbap (hot) - not bad but I've had better -Soon tofu with seafood - this was pretty good but it was pretty hot that day so I wasn't really in the mood for a hot bubbling stew Overall, it wasn't bad. It has a smaller menu than most typical Korean restaurants - but that could be a good thing, if you're an indecisive person. This is a decent restaurant, their food is extremely good but the interior and look of the restaurant need some touch up. It's not very crowded even during weekend lunch hour, despite having only about 6 tables, we didn't have to wait at all. The menu is concise, they have rice bowls, soup bowls and few appetizers. We ordered seafood pancake, couple of rice bowl and two of the seafood tofu soup bowls. The pancake was crispy, little over crispy for my liking. Rice bowls looked really nice, ingredients were excellent. The tofu soup had plenty of seafood stuff, soup had great taste. Their mild version is actually really mild, almost white soup. We were in the area visiting American Dream Mall on a rainy Saturday and with a bunch of kids with us, we all wanted something warm since it was pretty chilly out. We found Ho Ho on yelp and decided to give this place a try! Gave them a call asking if they can accommodate our large group (17 total) and they said yes so we went on over! First, on yelp it says they close at 8 which had us running out of the mall but when asked, they actually close at 9! Anywho, not a big deal but would have been nice to know the right time they closed. They had two tables set up for us, one accommodating 12 and the other 5 but since we had a lot of kids who were on high chairs, we were able to squeeze into the larger table. We first ordered some appetizers and then we placed our orders for entrees. While waiting for our food to come, I was wondering why they didnt have banchans as other korean restaurants would - they did but was served after most food was served. I am used to seeing a large variety or banchans but here they served 4 - they were okay. Seafood pancake was pretty good- my daughter enjoyed it. Kimchi pancake was full of kimchi, it was decent. We ordered the pork belly and that also wasnt bad. I decdied to get the beef soondubu and I thought it was nicely flavored! Just enough spice for warmth and the bowl of rice sealed the deal. The food was securely packed in the bag and also had ban chan for each order. The spicy pork is good, not too spicy and more of the bean paste taste than gojuchang. This is my favorite spot to get Don Katsu (fried pork cutlet). It's always perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Comes with a side of shredded cabbage salad and Japanese BBQ sauce. I tried the ox bone soup here recently and it hit the spot during this chilly weather. Do not forget to season it with some salt when it arrives on your table. All orders are served with 4 complimentary Korean style side dishes and during this pandemic, each customers receives their own set. I've passed by this Korean restaurant many times but never thought to enter due to its lack of curb appeal and I'm usually in Fort Lee or Pal Park getting my Korean food on. There were only a couple tables occupied in addition to a very large party. So you won't have any problems getting a table here. The menu offers traditional Korean fare including Bbq. Being in East Rutherford, I thought the prices would be a bit less, but it's comparable to those of FL/PP restaurants. Specifically I'm talking about the BBQ. I was not expecting the banchan (the small appetizer plates), but was pleasantly surprised when they brought it out. It included the standard seasoned/pickled vegetables, kimchi, and egg soup. We ordered a small seafood pancake, a bibimbap in a stone pot, and a cold noodle dish. The seafood pancake was pretty good with pieces of squid, shrimp. I also liked the bibimbap with beef, egg and the mix of veggies. The rice on the bottom got extra crispy which I liked. My husband was craving cold noodles and ordered this dish with pork and noodles literally sitting in ice. He wasn't a big fan and vowed to stick to his regular dishes from then on. You can bring your own alcohol if you like as well and gallons and stuff if you ever want to do a birthday dinner for someone which is what we did. Parking may be hard because you have to find parking on the street. the food was a reasonable price and it was pretty good it's like any other Korean bbq place. the rice bowl i got was okay .. i would suggest making sure you stir it occasionally so that your rice won't get crispy and burn lol or just transfer it to another plate because the food will continue to cook in the bowl due to it being so hot. other than that we had a good time and enjoyed the food. read more

I ordered really takeout here once and decided to dine-in for a second try! It's really hard to get korean food in the area because most of the restaurants are located closer to the Hudson. However this little neighborhood joint seems to be family run and long standing. The banchan reminds me of the banchan my grandmother would make, and I really prefer the earthy homey flavors of the restaurant over the fusion restaurants that are popping up everywhere. The pajeon is really good here too. I personally consider myself to be a pretty good cook but I cannot get my pajeon to be as thick and soft like the one here without burning the edges. The dak doritang (spicy chicken stew) is also really good and rich. It looks spicy but it is relatively mild and savory. The chicken is so soft that it melts in your mouth. The broth is also quite thick and well seasoned with pepper. Also, The price point is great considering it is served in a giant portion big enough to be a family-style centerpiece entree. When I'm homesick or stressed out, I come here for comfort food to re-energize. read more

Lunch specials were around $11 or $12, which is relatively cheap as far as Korean food lunches go, but maybe my frame of reference is off as I've been eating a lot in Manhattan. But the portion sizes were big! We got a budae jiggae and a spicy squid dish over rice in a stone bowl. I could only finish half of my dish, although I did eat a lot of the budae jiggae too. Budae jiggae was something I could have mustered up myself in 10 minutes and the spicy squid, again, had a lot of sugar in it. We always start with the kimchi pancake and the shins I. The pancake is crispy, light, flavorful and the perfect start to the meal. The shumai are delicate and yummy. Next, we order our main dishes. I always get the bibimbap in a heated stone bowl, and my girlfriend gets the spicy pork also in a heated stone bowl. The hot bowl does wonders to make the bottom of the rice super crispy and keeps the food hot. The flavors are so rich and bold that you don't want to stop eating!
