Wow! Wow! Wow! Fine dining in my own hood and a James Beard finalist. The nomination is so well…read moredeserved. My fellow yelpie Jeannie has been raving about their duck à la pressie for ages and we finally organized an outing so she can share her love of Tourmaline and the duck with us. Thank you Jeannie. The duck in itself deserves an award. You can tell that Yvan the head chef and owner has put so much detail into creating this magnificent dish for his customers. From picking the perfect farm to order the duck from in PA, to purchasing the machinery for churning out the sauce from the bones and internals of the duck, to incorporating different aspects of duck preparations from different cultures (French Normandy, Chinese roast duck) and teaching to Daniel in the city for some tips. You know Yvan has put his heart and soul into this one dish. I love how this dish is prepared table side by the chef himself with so many different stories and presentations. He starts off the duck with a serving of the perfect tot crispy skin served with his seasonal sauce. We had rhubarb. We were the stars of the room with everyone envying us. I can't recommend this experience enough. Worth every penny! In addition to the duck, we ordered some apps, salad and a fish dish. The seasonal cocktail Noveau Peach so refreshing and delish and dessert wine was a perfect accompaniment to the desserts. The atmosphere or the restaurant was cozy and high end. Lots of couples on cute romantic dates. The owners Yvan and Rebecca are the sweetest. I met Rebecca at our building bbq that they catered and she was just so lovely. Mentioned to her that we were going to see her the following week and she remembered me. Definitely check out Tourmaline. A true gem in FH and so happy to have them here.

Both my husband's and friend's hanger steak was very chewy!!! A restaurant of this quality should definitely serve a better cut of beef!!! We really looked forward to this dinner having read about the chef but were very disappointed with the entrees! The kale salad and celery root latkes were good as were the desserts. Too bad as Forest Hills is really lacking in fine dining restaurants !!!

Fortunately, the food was delicious and service was impeccable. We ordered 4 entrées to share and enjoyed everything. My favorite was the Half-Baked Chicken. The skin was so crispy and the chicken so tender. The Braised Short Rib was also really good and the crispy Brussels sprouts that come with it were the perfect amount of crispy. The other dishes we ordered were good too. We finished everything down to the last grain of rice. The floral displays are fun and are probably the highlight of the visit. The space is clearly designed for photos, and I can see why it would be popular for birthdays, showers, or other special occasions. They seem to go the extra mile when it comes to creating a celebratory atmosphere. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff at reception and at the table were attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Food-wise, we tried the Kung Pao calamari and wagyu meatballs after seeing other reviewers rave about them, but both felt a little gimmicky to me. Our group mostly stuck with more traditional brunch items, including breakfast burritos and omelettes, and those were fine. Overall, I would not necessarily come here just for the food, but I would recommend it for the atmosphere, service, and special-occasion vibe. It is a great spot if you want a pretty setting, good hospitality, and plenty of photo-friendly areas.

The whole outside smells like urine...just reeks. Inside, you'll wait 10+ minutes to be seated, despite having a reservation and there being multiple empty tables because the hostess is just not there. When you finally do get seated, the hostess just drops the menus on the tables and walks away, doesn't wait for you to be seated, doesn't say "enjoy your meal!" The floor is dirty, the edges of the table have obviously not been wiped down (crusted old food in the cracks) and just a general greasy, unclean vibe. The ambiance is nonexistent- no music aside from a man at the bar watching tiktoks on his phone at full volume. They rush you to put your order in even though it will take like 40 minutes to arrive despite (and I cannot emphasize this enough) the fact that the restaurant is a ghost town. The food sucked, we had 2 meals completely comped, but the bill somehow comes to over $50 with one burger and two non alcoholic drinks because of the 20% service charge. Even after we flagged the awful food (twice!)we still had to wait almost 30 minutes for the manager to come over. This was just terrible and it's obvious the staff does not care and is just going through the motions.

The wifey jumped out to get a 10pc mixed no sides @ $17.99 We made it home without opening the box while driving wasn't easy the chicken smelled delicious. I whipped of some of my home made hot honey dipping sauce for dipping !! FYI, they only gave us two lil 1oz containers of their BBQ sauce ??? Their chicken was super crispy & moist inside and not greasy just the way we like it !! We also put our chicken in a large bowl and hit the chicken with some salt, onion & garlic powder the chicken was still piping hot so it mixed right in with a few tumbles !! They have a very large menu with a lot of other food choices..... This review was solely based on their fried chicken ... Definitely would come back to explore the rest of their menu ... The wifey sad the restaurant was very clean and the servers were very nice & polite ... Parking is definitely challenging at times over here so do like we do have some one jump out to pick up the food ezzzz peezy !! Lol !!!
