These folks have treated me like family all times that I have been in their store. I would and have trusted them with very important pieces that I own. Very knowledgeable and friendly service combined with an excellent selection of items!

Avoid this horrific business and its unprofessional owner at all costs. We left thousands of dollars worth of jewellery in their care for repairs and experienced WEEKS of delays, outright lies, inability to track or trace where our precious pieces actually physically were (there's no computer system, no recorded phone interactions- just hand scribbled notes in poor penmanship & employees who aren't appropriately trained and left confused), and unfinished work. When my husband reached out for the 10th time today Jacqui was atrocious to him- we told her we were no longer comfortable with them handling the order, they aren't trustworthy, and we just wanted to come pick up our jewellery. Jacqui told us that Hobbs has 'been in business for 61 years' and that we'd get it when we get it, and then HUNG UP on my husband. After going down in person to the store we were finally forced to get the Peterborough Police Department involved today. It was only under the threat of us pressing charges for felony theft that the owner finally produced my rings. They were at an offsite jewellers 45 minutes away, she had to send an employee to go get them, and the order hadn't even been started... despite being in their possession for weeks. Jacqueline can have her friends post fake glowing reviews all she wants, but they won't drown out authentic customer experiences. The only reason they continue to remain in business after "61 years" is because they have no google listing or reviews, no public facebook reviews, no registration with the Better Business Bureau, and therefore no louder way for us members of the public to warn each other about their disgusting business practices. As others have stated, the people who work there are condescending and rude. I brought in three watches and asked about replacing the batteries and new watch bands. I have a large collection of Swatch watches and when I called the company they very graciously told me the ones I wanted worked on were "vintage" so they didn't have the exact bands but sent me complimentary bands. They also said they would replace the batteries and bands for free. I didn't want to drive to Boston to the store so stopped in a Hobbs. Rude, snarky and wildly expensive. Good luck keeping locals customers coming back with that attitude Ladies! Mr. Hobbs was such a gentleman, I'm sure he is rolling in his grave at the way his store is treating people. read more

Hobbs is a great family owned business with lots of new and estate options. We went here for my engagement ring and found more options we actually liked here than anywhere else. Other stores we went to were very basic in their offerings. Hobbs has unique and tasteful jewelry. They are always looking at new styles especially different stones and gems from all over the country. We worked with a number of people and they were all very attentive and knowledgeable. It was important to us to understand and learn more about jewelry and Hobbs definitely helped with that. Our ring purchase was more than just that, Hobbs made it an experience! Well, maybe I am just one of those white-haired (since I was 18) old ladies who likes Hobbs Jewelers, but I do. I know I can zip in at any time for a new watch battery, ring cleaning, watchband repair (mine is a southwestern band with lapis etc), and advice. I always find them very accommodating. I wonder if the folks who gave the bad reviews came in right after the armed robbery at Hobbs? No question the staff was jumpy for a while! They took a huge hit to the trust muscles. read more

I have very very mixed feelings about this place, although after the last exchange i don't think i would try going here again. We have been in here two different times. The first we were looking for engagement rings, there selection was on par with most location jewelers. Their selection and things they have for sale are really nice. I don't necessarily feel like i got a lot of education on the diamonds and variations etc etc etc but don't feel like they are a place that sells you a diamond for a future setting more of a place that sells you a ring that they have. All throughout i felt like i was treated like a serious customer even though we were just looking. Now for the negative, the second time we came in here it was part of the Waterhouses promotion where the Waterhouse was giving out gems from Hobbs. With a note that said come to Hobbs to see if you got a real gem. So we came in for that , first off an older woman gave me a look like she would need to watch us the whole time we were in there. I don't know what her issue was but i didn't appreciate her staring at me the entire time we were in the store even though she was talking with someone else (weird). Then we talked to a representative that said oh that's weird we aren't doing that any more. He was very rude, condescending and douche-y and in 30 seconds of talking to him he killed any chance of me ever going back. Everyone there this day acted like they had a stick up their ass, unfortunate. Maybe that works for older population of Peterborough but not for me. When you treat people like they are foolish children that can't be trusted usually that leaves a sour enough taste that they will write you off. read more

Such a fan of Hobbs! Been a longtime customer for this small, local jeweler. Great customer service, great prices, quality selection and services. Mr. Hobbs is super sweet and all of the sales reps are happy to help to find something to meet your needs. This shop has survived many years in a small town in different economic states. You can tell Mr. Hobbs continually gets repeat customers. Highly recommended for products and services. Will continue to be a loyal customer. As a Boston resident, I have access to many fine, well-known jewelers. However, I have never been treated with more respect, courtesy, and attention as when I shop at Hobbs. I will be traveling from Boston to NH just to have a ring re-sized and engraved by Hobbs Jewelers - just saying - you will not be disappointed. : ) read more

We have been insulted and received condescending attitudes each time we have gone in for a purchase. The one time we went in for a repair, the cost and wait time were both outrageous. We always try to go to local retailers instead of chains or online but the Hobbs' attitude is a turn off. We know that Paul was revered in town but this jewelry store has poor customer service and an attitude problem. read more

I grew up in Peterborough and recently came back to town and purchased jewelry from the Hobb's family. I was treated like an old family friend and absolutely appreciated the personal way I was treated and the special treatment I got when I purchased several items. The store has exceptional jewelry and I know that Mr. Hobbs, who I knew growing up, would be proud of how his family has carried on the tradition. His daughter is a real sweetheart.
