Went to the "soft" opening today at 10AM. Was not overly crowded, browsed the store for almost 2 hours. Staff was VERY helpful, and friendly. The store does not have a fabric department, due to it being right next to JoAnn's. I personally thought that was really thoughtful of them as a new business coming in. However, JoAnn's and Fabric Town are just about the only fabric options available these days. Selection of items was amazing!!! Home decor was very fun to look through, especially if you are into themed centered rooms. Lots of craft supplies, great prices. I will not go back to Michael's, a store I only went to because there was no other option. While I live in Ventura, and really don't like driving to Oxnard (just over crowded), I will because this store is worth it! My only "issue" the aisles are rather narrow, and one can just make it when you pass another customer with the same shopping cart. read more

I love crafting!! I have tons of stuff at home from sewing, to scrap booking, making jewelry, carving, and my new obsession the cricut machine, along with everything that is needed. Every week if not everyday I like to try new things so I head over to hobby lobby since they've opened it. I hope I find somewhere new to shop because the harassment I receive EVERY SINGLE TIME I go is ridiculous. You would think they would remember me by now since I spend so much money here and I visit often. But NOOO!! The second time I went in there, the cashier had the manager come over and check my 20s 10s and 5s. WOW!! I obviously was infuriated because I was the ONLY ONE they did this to. My friend actually took out his debit card to pay when he seen what they did because it's embarrassing. So I said loudly, "did anyone else's 10s and 5s get checked? No! Just mine?! Ohh ok cool. Make sure you check my ones cuz I just had a whole new batch made!" Today I went in and I left a few things but purchased some. Not only was there a second girl standing at the end of the cash register making signs at the cashier. Well when I went to grab my bags, I asked "these are mine? pointing at them" and she grabbed the other things I left and hugged them tightly as I grabbed my bags.. so I told her "yea grab them good cuz I might take them with me." Obviously being sarcastic because they're so ridiculous!! I even had an older lady following me the whole time and q every time I was walking out of an isle she would cut me off and say "oh Sorry". As I'm walking to the registers I tell her, " I'm walking towards the front if you wand follow me there cuz I might take something." As I'm walking out of the scattered isles and towards the register, she cuts me off again!! She actually followed me up their!!! I cannot shop here any longer!! Kinda disappointed. Every time I have shopped there NONE of the advertised sales are "in" the system. So as they are ringing you up you are straining to look over their shoulder at their screen and EVERY time I've had to ask "isn't that on sale?", they stop , pull out their flyer, and go back and adjust the price. Went to hobby lobby to pick up a picture frame that we needed for a gift and they had a large selection but the quality was not very good. The frame was $25 which was a bit much for a frame that the glass was loose in but it was on sale for 50% off so I could live with that. I think if I need a quality frame I probably need to get one custom made which is much more money but at least the glass wouldn't be lose. Connie is amazing, sweet, and extremely kind. I went in needing to frame some very sensitive items and she was very helpful. I was already crying before I even emptied all the items out of my small box. After looking them over she said "let me call my DM-I really want to do this and help you." I love the selection but they harass customers. I was there a few days ago and kept hearing Oxnard PD on line one, along with security scan all aisles. I was in the jewelry aisles and I guess I spent too much time there because the employees were all over me and I heard from the next aisle on a walkie talkie that all of the cameras were on me and they were prepping the video for Oxnard PD. Came here after going to the fabric store next door. I was pretty happy with the selection of items I found here. What was great is that most items were discounted. I found a tiara for my sister's bachelorette party a la Breakfast at Tiffany's half off along with pretty bows and ribbons. I LOVE this store. They always have exactly what i'm looking for----not easy seeing ad I have a large array of crafting needs. From baking supplies (I do specialty cakes), to scrapbooking/card making/stamping supplies, party foods, to home decor, this place is my one stop shop. So I know Hobby ownership some Political views that may not agree with everyone. My thoughts are to each his own and I leave that out of my shopping decisions. That being said I just love this place. How much cool stuff can one store have - well more than I can imagine when it come to Hobby Lobby. The staff is always friendly regardless of what location I am visiting. This holds true for this location. The wife and I had a great chat with one of the employees. A fantastic young lady who was helping the wife find this unique item she needed. The store is bright and clean and has an amazing amount of unique items. The man cave section makes me want to do a man cave in my house. They had the Christmas items out and it was more stuff than any other store I have ever seen. Aisles and Aisles of everything you could imagine to make your house the coolest made up house on the block. The have high end items and some more reasonable priced items also. They were having a pretty good sale when we were they on metal and glass items. The wife got some pretty nice Autumn decorations so she can get the house ready for fall. This is my first and last time ever coming into the hobby lobby. We came in at 7pm with a busy store and we're very hard pressed to find someone working in he store. Then we get to the registers where there is a line of at least 20 customers with one poor guy work a single register. In my book this is not the way to treat your customers. read more

Karen on register 1 lacks in her interpersonal skills. Time was irritated and frustrated and it was obvious. She got smart with one of the customers in front of me. I waited in line over 10 minutes while she kept trying to fix her errors with that same customer. She had to call a manager over twice and never once acknowledges the rest of costumers in line let alone apologized for the delay or her behavior. She then proceeded to speak to the next customer like she was stupid. 11:35- 11:50 When it came my turn, she was short and seemed overwhelmed. Jessica the attending manager was standing next to her at this point. They began conversing in "whispers", turning away from me, to discuss the customer that Karen did not handle properly to begin with. First and foremost, it is horrible and inexcusable to have the employees conversing during customer transactions to begin with. Then to have the employees speak badly of other customers right in front of another customer is sad and make you wonder what else may be said when you leave. It's very poor customer service. Surprising that this is a "Christian" organization since the employees do not provide service in a biblical manner. This is a serious case of an organization "not practicing what they preach." It saddens me that your portraying this organization as a Jesus loving company, when there was no Jesus love in the disrespectful exchange between employee and customer. Including your management team this morning. Please, in a world so full of hipocracy, do not give true Christians a bad reputation. It does reflect that way and unfortunately for you, perception is reality. Please, for the love of God, get it together and take care of your people internally and externally. Went to Hobby Lobby to pick up frames and experienced a very rude sales clerk, which surprised me. I sat my purse on what I found out to be the framing counter to look for a paper with the size of frames I needed. The clerk told me not to lean against table due to shards of glass. Then she came up and decided to blow the area with an air compressor hose right at me. Then she picked up her duster, looked at me and dusted the counter and made one big sweep towards me. I am extremely disappointed. For many years now, my family and I have been very loyal customer. My boys and I look forward to going there at least once a week to see what is new, especially during the holidays. But after today's visit, I will not take them there anymore. While checking out today, Emily informed us that the wooden shelf I had picked out was not on sale. When I told her I was under the impression it was on sale online, she told me if I could show it to her. Unable to provide her with the information because my 2-year-old did not want to give out the phone, I informed her I will just do it next time but I told her again I was certain it was. While placing all of our other items into a shopping bag, she proceeded to mumble under her breath with attitude "well it shouldn't be." Now I understand I was probably in the wrong with the price but this is no way to treat a customer. I know Hobby Lobby prides itself in putting family first and treating people with respect and I am deeply saddened to see that Hobby Lobby chose to have someone like this be the face of Hobby Lobby. God teaches us to love everyone and to treat everyone with respect and kindness no matter if they are in the wrong or if you disagree. And I am very sorry but our encounter today was not kind or had any respect. Especially in front of my two young sons. Emily should be ashamed of herself. Worse shopping experience. All the employees we crossed paths with were down right rude. One employee turned into me with her cart and didn't apologize just gave me a dirty look. Another employee pushed me out of the way to show another customer where something was. My teenagers were scolded by workers twice, for leaning against a shelf and for playing with a bubble wand, making my families shopping experience very unpleasant. I've been to Hobby Lobby about three times. The first time my daughter was having an event at school with a Hawaiian theme. It was my first time at the store so I was lost. I came across an employee and asked her if they had any Hawaiian items, she looked at me like I had asked her for a cheeseburger and fries. I politely described grass skirts and flower necklaces (leis) she very rudely pointed to some garden flamingos that were on clearance. The second time was to return an item that was purchased online. We had two heavy boxes with 9 vases, 6 of them arrived broken. We were in line for quite a while. When we came up to the register we were told that only a manager could process an online return, which meant more waiting. Once the manager arrived we were told that they don't process online returns. I contacted them and a very nice sales girl helped process the return and refunded me the entire amount for the 9 vases. The third time my daughter was interested in having a Michael Jackson theme party, so I thought of Hobby Lobby. We went there hoping to find anything related to the pop star. We came across an employee emptying boxes. I asked her if they might carry anything Michael Jackson, she didn't even bother looking at as, she answered with a very rude "no." I thanked her and began walking through the isles with my daughter looking for inspiration, which we did find. We found glitter paper and other supplies. We came across an isle filled with posters. By then I was hesitating asking anyone at this store for help. But to my surprise a young, dark, haired woman guided us through the posters and we did find a great Michael Jackson poster. They do have great items for crafts, but more so for home decor. But it's a hit and miss when it comes to customer service at this particular store. In my case it's been mostly a miss. Pay very close attention at checkout, this place in this day and age is still not equipped with a point of sale system. They manually input each one of your items and make mistakes quite often . My wife was charged $398.00 for a candle that was priced at $3.98 ( who does this ?? ) absolutely no attention to detail and no brains . My wife caught the error after reconciliation of the her purchase while still standing at the register and the cashier still put the transaction through because she was to lazy to delete her mistake or circumvented having to start the transaction over again . 2 weeks later we still are waiting for our refund. Our banking institution still has not received notification of a pending credit . The uneducated store manager ( male with glasses )had the nerve to tell me it was up to my bank to give me my refund but yet there is no trace of one . I am afraid to seek further help in this matter , I can only imagine what the leadership is like when the store level is this poor at providing basic customer service and satisfaction. This is surely a direct reflection of the so called leadership in place above and beyond the store level . News flash your Oxnard store is basically stealing from customers who come into your store to allow you profit . Horrible experience will never return and will pursue this issue until my hard earned money is returned to my family. read more
