I go here because its close to work and possibly the only sit down restaurant near by. Their menu is a bit awkward to me. They don't serve fries here at all no matter what. I decided to try something different from my normal breakfast place. I walked in and the place looked pretty nice, nt too bad for a cheap breakfast place. I sat down and looked at the menu and I ordered a diet coke and the waitress came back with iced tea. Funny thing was, the place wasn't full like at all so her forgetting my drink order... I mean come on... so I ordered the "BDBIT" which is two eggs, "hash browns" and coffee cake/toast. when it came, it was really small. Normally I think people go to cheap breakfast places either for SUPER small breakfasts or really BIG breakfast. I prefer BIG. This was just ridiculous. The coffee cake took me like 20 minutes to eat because it was so dry, the bacon I ordered on the side tastes like how wet dog smells, the eggs were rubbery and tasted like bell pepper, and the "hash browns" were cut up potatoes grilled probably in the same butter or grease or whatever as someone's spinach omelet. Only been here for breakfast or brunch and the Sunnyvale is our favorite restaurant. I remembered that it used to be great and the serving was huge but recently, not our 1st choice for breakfast but we still love the harsh brown and coffee cake. This Hobbee ' s has literally gone to shyt. The Food was terrible and the service was horrendous. Save your money and just go to Denny's next door. I was beyond Disappointed with my meal, let alone the entire experience. I am leaving no tip the meal was $19.96 and that is exactly what I gave them. I had my mouth all set for an Awesome breakfast and then this. Rudely awakened into the reality of Hobbees on Awhanee in Sunnyvale plain and simply sucks. From staff to the management sucks, sucks, sucks. I will never eat here again. I especially loved the part during my dining experience that the waiters assistant pretended to not speak English. I like this place. It may be because it is currently the choice place for the improv gang to hang out after our Saturday jam, but I get into this place a lot. Their omelets are fantastic and their famous coffee cake is....well, famous. The only thing that is negative here is the service is slow, though the waiter is usual Johnny-on-the-spot with the refills and being on top of most stuff. i pretty much only like this place for their blueberry coffee cake. always moist, warm, and with the perfect amount of crumbliness and crunch at the top. i've gone there before and only ordered this. their breakfast items are only ok, typical breakfast food but overpriced. don't get the french toast, it's not very good. denny's is right next door and it's really tempting to just eat there for a lot cheaper and then run over and get some coffee cake to go. I walked in with my cousin around 10:30 AM on Sunday and the greeter asked us with friendly smile for how many people - very cheesy smile. He seated us at our table. The waiter who took our order was another story. He did smile and helped us with our order. He never came back with my drink . I had to reminded him twice after my food came in. The food came out and he asked if we wanted any ketchup and/or hot sauce which he got them for us. Our servers did not have much time to care for us. I have to flagged him for our check. He saw us look at him but he quickly turned away. Wow There goes his 15% tip. My food was good though, I have to admit even when I have a bad service. My apple sausages and scramble egg were delicious. The apple sausage has the sweetness of the apple in a bit hot sausage. Also, the breakfast/ brunch came with blueberry coffeecake. The flavor of the gigantic coffee cake is just right, not too sweet. Breakfast/brunch topped off with good blueberry coffee cake. Let me start by saying that we LOVE Hobees, but haven't been to one in years. The one near us closed down, so we were super excited to go. The food is good and pretty healthy. They have tons of veggie options. I wish we would've picked the newest location (forget the city) that opened in 2008, because this one in Sunnyvale was yuckky...dirty and drab. The food was okay, coffeecake that is usually amazing was pretty dry. The service was wonderful! They waitress and bus boy were super attentive. Came in here for lunch with a coworker - had a hamburger and smoothie. The smoothie came with the extra in the ice cold steel mixing cup (bonus!) and was very tasty. The burger was well cooked and well made - decent sized. All in all lunch for 2 came to about $40 with tax/tip Nice bright restaurant, seated quickly, food came hot and fresh and quickly as well. Only complaint was not getting the waters we asked for (to complement the smoothies we enjoyed). I'll come back next time I'm in the mood for a burger and shake. read more

I'm giving 5 stars because of how great they were with my kids! They were given a fruit happy face right when we sat down, cooled the hot chocolate so they could drink it and gave them Mickey Mouse pancakes that were so cute! I don't even pay attention to the bill cause I know the food there is worth the price. Good food at a decent price. Quality service, too. We went there on a weekday evening and it was about 1/3 full. I had a sandwich and my vegetarian friend had a gardenburger. The food came hot and my sandwich was tasty. We also split a blueberry coffeecake, which came warm and steamy with a little bit of butter. It was delicious. Throughout the evening, the waitress came to refill our drinks and check up on us. I think we were busy yapping and ended up staying past closing. Hobbes is awesome!!! I have had their french toast several times....AMAZING!!! My usual is the cupertino club on sourdough. This is our usual Hobees location, I have been to the one in Cupertino once. It was ok but the sunnyvale one is more friendly. I'm with holding 1 star only because if you're picky it could use some remodeling. Blueberry coffee cake is orgasmically awesome. But you might need someone to share it with, it's HUGE!
