At least 5-7 large chicken fingers and a bucketload of fries.
    Jeff S.

If you're looking for something out of the ordinary or to compare with Traverse City restaurants (as others have wisely noted), this is not your destination. If you're looking for a quick-no, I take that back (more on that in a minute), but large portion of food and a huge selection of beers and cheap cocktails (relatively speaking, compared to CA, $5 for a Guiness?...that's a deal, and $8 mixed drinks!) you can head here. I do have to give them the benefit of the doubt that the place seemed hugely understaffed, with an entire patio of probably nearly a dozen tables with only one server. But wait, she wasn't running the kitchen, so maybe they were understaffed back there? Anyway, while we were seated promptly and our beverages came out quickly, our food took a good 45 minutes. Really? Throw some chicken fingers in the fryer, some fries, some fish and chips? How hard is it? The place was busy, but not hopping. I don't know how it took that long but the only saving grace was that it was all hot and obviously hadn't been sitting at the pass under a heat lamp (or not) and freshly prepared, and the portions were HUGE. It was all tasty and in a this-is-salty-and-delicous-and-I-know-it's-not-good-for-me-but-I-want-to-keep-eating-it sort of way. Like really good fast food. Each of our dishes, the chicken fingers, the fish and chips, the fried chicken sandwich, were enough for two. Even if you're really hungry, any of these were probably a 1,000 calorie plus meal. I'm not here to give nutrition advice, but this was just an obscene amount of food for a single human being. Generous with the fries, generous with the protein. Again, the kind server who was scrambling just to keep up with clearing tables was obviously doing her best and was exceedingly apologetic about the wait time. So the two stars off are not for her, but for the average food quality and the lack of management as evidenced by the slow food service. If you're at your leisure, looking for some everyday American favorites with most of it probably coming off the back of a food service truck but still tasting pretty good, this is your spot. I would go back, but only when I know I have at least an hour, if not more, to dine and enjoy a beverage or two.

Wow wow wow. I can't say enough about this wonderful place. I had an hour to eat before my daughter's performance at Interlochen and took a chance on shoving dinner in here. I was seated outside in a beautiful patio and the blueberry vodka cocktail was fresh and sublime. I'm a fish and chips snob and oh boy was it perfect. My go to for a long time for summers to come! My server was so amazing too.

    Did someone say Cheeseburger Pizza?

Oh dear! We can officially cross the cheese burger pizza off from our bucket list although it was never on our list to begin with. We were here in a large party and received many pizzas. Good for large groups, fun casual vibe - don't expect anything from the food other than, "I am feeling like a square of gelatin right now." Cheeseburger Pizza got mixed reviews anywhere from, "I think you guys would have liked it" to "Ronald mcdonald ground up in a pizza." I personally was too scared to try the cheeseburger pizza. Hawaiian is less busy than other pizzas but to overcompensate they added a fuckload of cheese. "homie dumped a bag of cheese on this thing." The cherry old fashion was solid, boozy, and overall the bar had a good variety. The salad was sub par - truck to table. Nice flower garden but very loud on side of county road if you are on the patio. Here here! The service is was friendly, great jokes and prompt.

Don't use the website menu! The best part of the meal was the waitress who was very cheerful and efficient. We both ordered Cobb salads, which were enormous (see photo) and shared a personal size pizza. I chose the restaurant because the website menu linked to Yelp listed whitefish. That menu is outdated! The waitress said they have been unable to access the site to update it. The atmosphere is a nice "up North/sports bar vibe. Also don't let the name fool you - we couldn't find any German food on the menu!

Have they brought back the fish tacos yet?

No. I was just there yesterday. They no longer offer anything that creative. On line menu does not match actual menu. Very disappointing.

Frontage on Eighth Street, but it feels like a neighborhood joint once you are in there. I apologize to Two Sons Pizza, for not writing a five star review, when the pizza was five stars. I mean, we've got The Filling Station for the real thin but still chewy crust. Excellent. Charles and Reid for Detroit style, which is life altering delicious (and I generally hate thick pizza). And Two Sons completed the power triangle with big New York style slices and pies. But what the F happened? They've always had a little bit of that dismissive hipster kind of vibe, where they try to make you feel like you're not important, or possibly not cool enough to enjoy how amazing their pizza is, or was. But now it's like the one or two employees who are there at a time, don't want to be there at all. And that's what the pizza tastes like now The slices used to be massive, like cutting an extra large pizza into six slices. They were priced accordingly, $7-8+, but well worth it. Delicious. Now the pies are old sitting around for hours, and they don't perk up when reheated like they used to. I don't have a problem with proper New York style slices, being reheated, that's part of the tradition. But the attitude I get is, if they aren't slammed busy, they don't care about having fresh food, and you just get what you get. It seems the employees don't care, they are like robots now, and unhappy robots at that. They've got the NY magic and the special sauce, they just aren't using it anymore. Maybe the chef quit, maybe it got sold, I have no idea. The last slice I had, I threw it in the garbage, and went to Toby's dog house, the hot dog trailer outside. But it was closed on a day it was supposed to be open. The guy behind the bar at Silver Spruce brewing has the same dismissive/dumb attitude. I wouldn't be surprised if all three places closed after summer 2026 ** since they are capable of making a good New York style pie, at least in theory now, just order a whole pizza. That way, it will be fresh. The slice game is dead there. **

The service was painfully slow; the young woman waiting on our table was stretched way too thin. It took about 15 min to order drinks and another 15 before they came. We ordered fries to share and burgers, subbing side salads since it sounded delish. Fries came out lightning fast but the portion was TINY for $10 - we had to flag down our waitress to order a second round of drinks (which she didn't even stop to ask if we wanted the same or not, just sprinted away and put them in); when she returned with this round we ordered more fries (accepting we would end up paying $30 for fries...absurd). Burgers came out; as mentioned before these were delish -6oz is a great size and bun was quality. Side salad portion was pathetic. About 6 lettuce pieces with a few toppings sprinkled on. After finishing, we again flagged down the waitress as she blew past and asked for the check. We got the bill and were appalled. For the drinks (vodka with a splash of cranberry; tequila with soda and a splash of lemonade; scotch on the rocks; all served in small cocktail glasses) not only were we charged for the alcohol - but also the mixers as if they were full sized glasses of cranberry and lemonade instead of a 1oz or less splash. Even more ridiculous was being charged for ICE (yes, you read correctly - ICE) in the scotch. Round that out with side salads being priced $1.50 over what was listed on the menu and we concluded we will never be back nor recommend.
