We stopped in here for a drink and snack whilst we were exploring the Stockyards area. We sat at the bar and ordered a beer for my partner and I had the TX Peaches. The cocktail was nice but it was a little too sweet for me (personal preference more than there being anything wrong with the drink). We ordered a chicken fried chicken sandwich to share. The food arrived quickly and the sandwich was delicious! We both agreed it was probably the best fried chicken sandwich either of us had ever had. The chicken was juicy and the batter had so much flavour. The fries were tasty but could have been cooked for a little bit longer. Also want to shout out our bartender (whose name I didn't get so very sorry). He was so friendly and was giving us lots of recommendations for things to do in the area. The reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the bathroom situation. The ladies room was not very nice and you aren't able to put toilet paper in the toilet itself (there is a sign specifically saying this) and I found the whole experience a bit unpleasant. I understand their piping is old but having to put your used toilet paper into a bin (where other people have also put their used paper) was just not nice. Our total bill, including tax and tip, was $45 which we thought was great value. I would definitely visit again (although not if I need to use a bathroom haha).

Labeled as cafe, more of a bar. Popped in for a drink and a snack. Food was good for the price, large portion of pickles. Service was only okay, waitress was not super attentive, did jot tell us the specials or refill drinks. Left smelling like a fryer.

The ambience was very casual and the service was very friendly. The food was very homemade. I highly recommend the gravy just like grandma would make. Excellent after a long night out.

There has been a change of owners from the nostalgic ambiance experience of back in the day, and some things have changed but it still has the old western, full bar and dining experience I seek when visiting the stockyards. They have a good size menu selection of various "home-cooked" southern style food that I am sure you will find to your liking. The service staff is friendly and our order was prompt in being served. It's not the place to go for BBQ, Seafood, Asian, or Italian food because it won't be on the menu. Good Southern cooking is what you will find! Hours: Monday & Tuesday - Closed Wednesday 9a - 8:30p Friday 11a - 2a Saturday 9a - 2a Sunday 11:30a - 8:30p

Coconut star mocktail! It was heavenly good with all the western vibes and mood. The bartender was very helpful and cooperative. I like it when business offers wide range of mocktails options like this place. Not forget to mention how prices are great here too! I am definitely coming back again for more mocktails!

Stopped by while bar hopping. It's your typical bar...nothing crazy, but solid vibes. We ordered some drinks and it was okay. Probably wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I'd visit again if I was in the area. Not as lively as some of the other spots, but still a decent stop.

Very low key diner type restaurant in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the stockyards. We came in to grab a quick lunch before exploring for the day. We sat ourselves and were greeted by the friendly server. She was attentive and friendly. We ordered a cheeseburger and chicken fried steak sandwich, and we split everything so we could try both. The burger was juicy and well seasoned, albeit a little greasy, but that's to be expected when you order a burger like this. The chicken fried steak sandwich was good. Pretty basic, nothing special about it. Definitely worth coming by for a quick lunch.

This was a local recommendation for some down home chicken fried steak. It was delicious and tasty. A win win all the way around! It was hot fresh and tasty! We loved every bite! We would definitely be back. The salad was fresh and yummy too!!!

2nd time to visit the stockyards. Originally came here to eat at another restaurant that was showing they had fried bologna sandwiches.....unfortunately they had "gone out of business". As we walked by the star cafe a couple was coming out and we inquired if it was any good? They responded it's delicious. They weren't wrong! We started off with the fried pickles. YUM! I had the fried smoked sausage sandwich and I swear it was out of this world good. A must try. Sausage was sliced and stacked high.....and fired crispy! My sister had the burger and loved it. Bottom line we will be back and if ever you're in the area this place is a must try!

    Christine D.

Pros: the food was tasty and came out fast! Cons: for being a cafe, this was an extremely overpriced restaurant. I originally wanted a salad, but it was $18; so I opted for a $13 burger that didn't come with a side. (I had to pay $2 for a tiny bag of lays). Nothing comes with a side unless you get a $40 steak. Again, for a cafe? Not impressed. The staff was chaotic and gossiping over their Girl Scout cookies the whole time. Weird atmosphere, which is disappointing because we love the stockyards!

    Chicken fried chicken and eggs

Best chicken fried chicken/steak I've ever had. Super crispy and served with eggs that seemed to be cooked in lots of butter, very tasty. The only miss was the biscuits which were surprisingly dry. Service was decent, took our orders quickly and left us alone until it was time for the check. The place had a very nice feel being in the stockyards and being not too crowded.

Alright alright alright!!! Today's review is going to be the lucky star cafe!!! Yeee-hawww that's the sound of StockYards people! Bunch of cowboys and cowgirls roaming around the street of Fortworth! Where the cowboys boot clicking and the chicken fried steaks frying, and the people greet you with "what's up y'all" and that's the kind of attitude that you need to have walking to this restaurant!! If you're looking for high end cowboys dinner you ain't goin to find it! If you're looking for real southern hospitality you're gonna have to earn their trust first instead of demanding it! Servers in this restaurant are pretty amazing if you TALK TO THEM LIKE HUMAN!! Don't assume that they are grumpy or whatever because they ain't talking to you! They are the nicest people you can find in Texas!! They are so friendly and down to earth also! I love coming here!! Food is ok for me, I usually get country fried steaks! But loaded baked potatoes is what's AWESOME!! If you want loaded then you'll get loaded!! I've taken people here from all over US that have visited me here in Texas and never a complaint! So yeah just enjoy your time y'all! And don't think too much! You're here to have fun!!!

The ambiance and overall aesthetic are incredible, casual yet modern, with a classy upscale feel. From the moment you sit down, they set the tone by bringing out a complimentary glass of champagne, which is such a nice touch. They also bring fresh popovers (made fresh upon request), and they're always a great start to the meal. For appetizers, we ordered the hamachi crudo and oysters. The hamachi never disappoints, and the oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious. For our main course, we typically go with the dry-aged ribeye and a wedge salad. The ribeye is easily one of my favorite steaks in DFW, consistently cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. While the food is always excellent, the service is what truly sets Wicked Butcher apart. The staff is consistently attentive, warm, and genuinely invested in making the experience feel special. To top off the evening, they surprised us with a complimentary dessert for my fiancé's birthday, and it was fantastic. One of the most impressive things about Wicked Butcher is that the pricing feels very fair for the level of quality, service, and overall experience. It delivers a high-end steakhouse experience without feeling outrageously expensive. Highly recommend.

The swank, Art Deco atmosphere matches the hotel perfectly, but the food is the real star. For lunch, the Wicked Burger was phenomenal. Built with cheddar, caramelized onions, mushrooms, and a rich sauce on a toasted sesame brioche bun, it hits every savory note perfectly. The rest of the table was equally thrilled with their choices, including the French Dip (loaded with caramelized onions, provolone, and horseradish-garlic aioli on a baguette with a stellar au jus) and the crisp Steak Cobb salad. The truffle fries were a massive hit and a frequent topic of conversation around the table, and even the fountain Diet Coke was perfectly calibrated. I'd be completely remiss if I didn't mention the monster rolls brought out for the table--they are giant, incredibly airy, golden popovers served with a spectacular rosemary honey butter that steals the show before the main course even arrives. For breakfast, I wanted to stay on the healthier side and ordered the Sinclair Breakfast with chicken sausage. The sausage delivered incredible flavor with a perfect, distinct peppery bite. The plate was beautifully balanced with delicate microgreens, and the breakfast potatoes were a total standout--perfectly executed with a great outer char and deep flavor. Paired with excellent, robust Lavazza drip coffee, it was a flawless start to the morning. Across both visits, the staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and highly attentive with beverage refills. Top-tier service, great quality, and an absolute must-visit in Fort Worth.

DFW is massive. My friend was 30 mins late, but I wasn't trippin. I used that time to charge my phone and get a little work done. We didn't have a resy, but were seated right away. First of all, this place is massive. We both started with the espresso martini before realizing they had a happy hour menu. Our second drink was from the hh menu even though we had no business having a second cocktail. To start, we shared the fried green tomatoes. For whatever reason, we both ended up getting the western burger. Food was great. There was so much of it that I was only able to finish half and ended up taking the rest home. Great service as well. The place was crowded by the time we left. We only planned to stay for 45 minutes, but ended up staying for nearly 2 hours. Big thanks to the bartender. Not a true "Japanese wagyu" texture, but still an excellent steak overall. - Sides (mashed potatoes, fries, broccolini, cornbread): All pretty good across the board. I liked the cornbread the most and wished there was more of it. Usually a side of cornbread is much more substantial and comes with honey butter. - Steak sauce: we ask for a side of this. Whatever they had was unique and great. Fruity and tangy, a great complement to the tomahawk. - Pecan Pie: look at the photo! A huge, tall slice. No notes. Loved the dense ice cream on top. The fried mushrooms were meh for me, and the salad was ok. That said, the bread that comes with the meal is excellent, and the creamed spinach was very good. I think they could step up their ranch game. The steak, though, absolutely stole the show. We ordered the Cattlemen's Porterhouse. It is a very large steak and easily enough for two people. You really just need to order an extra salad and maybe one or two sides. Ours was a little undercooked, but we did not send it back. We ate it and were still very, very happy with it. We also had the onion ring appetizer, which was excellent. They are onion rings, so don't go in expecting some world-changing event, but they were very good. Sweet onions, cooked well, and served with barbecue sauce and ranch. Do yourself a favor and skip the barbecue sauce. Get double ranch. Back to the steak: it was easily one of the top five best steaks I have ever had. I travel extensively for work, eat out often, and have been fortunate to visit some of the nicest steakhouses in the country. Maybe this was a one-time fluke, but gosh darn it, that steak was amazing. It is cooked over a wood-fired grill and has an incredible smoky char. The flaky salt they put on top after grilling just sets it off. It was phenomenally well seasoned. I highly recommend Cattlemen's. We will absolutely be back again -- just maybe not ordering the fried mushrooms next time. One tip: if there is a long wait, check OpenTable. Service: Our server, Sierra, went above and beyond. She kept us updated while the kitchen searched for chili flakes and sincerely apologized when they couldn't find any. When we asked about the menu and the restaurant's history, she enthusiastically shared stories and even brought us an original menu from the 1940s, where the prime rib was listed for just $1.34. Every time , except once, when I leave I say I'm not going back there again. But, invariably, friends will invite us to go there with them, and off we go. But it's the same old story. The bill was $118. I'm giving two stars instead of one because the service and ambiance are okay. I don't think Reata lives up to its reputation. A management review of their menu and pricing is in order.
