We arrived at lunchtime on Mother's Day and spotted an open table outside under the canopy. My family of six enjoyed a variety of 3 meat combos. Everything was a hit! We had pulled pork, beef brisket, hot links, ribs, Mac and cheese, beans, and the best corn muffins with honey butter. The order came quickly and the owners were terrific and friendly. With over 1k reviews I knew it was gonna be amazing. I walked my way across downtown, hog wild is at the end of the Main Street. I made it there around 11:15am the owner ( I believe his name is Randy) welcomed me in even though they opened at 11:30. Glad I came before the rush cuz I got BUSY! He explained the menu and gave some recommendations. Being on a diet I went with the steakhouse salad, and to balance it out cornbread with honey butter. Omg so delicious and filling! I had to take the rest of my cornbread to go. You order at the front and pay, then you sit where you like and they bring the food to you. They have indoor seating and an outside patio. I have always loved Hog Wild, but I think the new ownership may not be as committed to the quality of the food. First, let me say that the staff was very friendly and professional. And, the mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, and Ceaser salad were wonderful. But...the dinner rolls were stale and I couldn't even get them to soften up in the microwave. The brisket and chicken only tasted like smoke, almost like it was just smoke flavored with no other real flavor. The pulled pork was nasty. Nothing soft and succulent about it at all. It was crispy, over cooked, overly greasy and the flavor was off. Clearly all of the meat had not been cooked today, probably several days ago? And the dinner rolls were more than a couple of days old as well. I am posting this hoping the new owners see this and take it to heart. I will give it one more try and go from there. read more

The best bbq ever? Probably in California at least. The brisket is moist and fall apart. This is by far the best thing we tried. We got the el dorado sampler ~60 bucks, so got three meats and it was a superb deal. It basically had a pound of brisket, which is a steal because if you buy a pound of brisket - it's 30 bucks on its own. Our waitress recommended the garlic sausage and she was spot on. I'm happy that this place has an outdoor, gated patio space because I had my dog with me, and she was allowed in the area. I ordered two one plate meals for my boyfriend and I. It arrived with bread and butter. Bread wasn't warm, so the butter wouldn't spread, but that's okay. My chicken was fine, I liked the BBQ sauce it came with, though some spice would've been great. Everything else I was blown away by. The sides, including my boyfriend's salad, were packed with flavor. My boyfriend isn't a salad guy and only got it to try to be healthy, and even he was blown away by how good it was. The sides tasted homemade, and like there was some thought and time put into it. My boyfriend enjoyed his ribs. We also loved the cobbler. It was warm with some whipped cream on top. I have a huge sweet tooth, and this satisfied my sweet tooth. Ribs were kinda small but good. Meat just comes off the bone. Wish there was a few more Two sides potato salad and string beans. Both were good. Potato salad was made with yellow mustard which I really liked. String beans were spicy and crunchy. The had cooked onions which really added flavor. Comes w a dinner roll. Texas BBQ is the undisputed King of BBQ - sauce is not BBQ! Smoke is what makes a great BBQ great. And Hog Wild's pit masters are dedicated to the art of smoking meat. We come here for most social occasions (football Sunday, company over from out of town, etc) or just on days when my son and I crave that Texas BBQ. Like today! We always get it to go, and BBQ travels well. It is about 30 mins from my house and the drive is soooo worth it. Closer BBQ places exist - but BBQ is an art, not a science.
