I was a fan of several of the Hog Wilds but the West Street committed a really double bungle. Daughter driving from Georgia to Kingman, ordered $140 worth of meat for a family party and when she arrived, found pulled pork instead of brisket. Of course, they remembered to surcharge for the brisket, they just didn't remember the brisket. The manager sounded skeptical when she called him, and said he would have to check the camera. He still sounded skeptical when the camera showed the mistake and grudgingly gave a credit for the brisket and no more. Very small comfort for their major screw-up. Well-- I oopsied pretty hard on dinner and didn't want to toss the sides and buns I had toasted for the pork I had made so in a just quick decision I decided to order a pound of pull pork and some beans to save the half dinner I had made. The pulled pork was not dry in the slightest and had a pleasant smokey flavor! It just needed salt is all and it hugely saved my dinner. The beans were tasty as well. The BBQ sauce was probably the weakest item I had but I had sauce at home. Neither the pork nor the beans were the best that I've ever had by any means but I take back all my assumptions I had about this place being bad and am definitely willing to try other items from here! read more

Whenever anyone visits Wichita, one of the must-try foods I tell them about is Hog Wild ribs. When I used to live in Wichita, Hog Wild was a once or twice a month visit for my family, and an additional visit or two per month from me personally on a work lunch. My family is passing through Wichita on a road trip, and my visit today inspired me to write a review because after being away for all these years, these ribs were exactly as I remembered them several years ago. I've eaten here at the one on 21st street before and it was good. Tried again today and it was so bad that I threw everything out after a few bites. Sooooo bad First of all the ribs were tough and the meat had no flavor, and had no seasoning. The potato used for the potato salad were grainy The Cole slaw had a huge chuck of the core in it. Do not pick up doordash orders here. I picked up an order here and the lady (never got her name) that tends to the doordash orders was extremely rude. She had blonde hair and was short. Today I just started doordashing and I had an order to pick up here, well I walked in and my doordash app was acting up, so I asked them to just give me the one doordash order they had, and the girl had a really nasty attitude and said "No I can't give you this order that's not how this works." I don't know why Kansas thinks they are any good at barbeque. I am continuously disappointed in their fare. I got the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Now this pork was dry. It needed some sauce on there, which I got none of. They did stick the coleslaw on top but no other fixings were offered (onion, pickles, jalapeno). The Mac and Cheese was nothing to write home to mama about. The potato salad was standard fare. Nothing that didn't come out of a tub. And finally the beans wee a cheap imitation of Busch's Baked Beans. I think it's time to go back to Texas for some real BBQ! read more

Mine was the most flavorful, balanced, and finger-licking barbecue I have ever enjoyed! I travel often and far, so I've tried TX, NC, OK, (yes, even California) and Kansas City BBQs among others. NONE of it compared to this rich, smokey, slightly sweet taste! The pork was juicy and practically fell off the bone. I couldn't live without the sauce so I bought some to take home. I have used the sauce twice now and each time it transformed my own food from average into memorable. DO NOT pass this place up if you crave barbecue! I wish to address the Thanksgiving prepared dinner I recently purchased there. Realizing I would be celebrating Thanksgiving alone this year, I decided to treat myself with a complete prepared dinner; something I could simply warm up and enjoy while I'm watching football. Having seen Hog Wild's advertisement for a smoked turkey dinner, I was enticed to go for it - mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, 2 kinds of vegetables and rolls. I anticipated having plenty of smoked turkey left over for a nice big pot of simmering smoked turkey and beans; perfect on a cold day. True to form, everything was ready when I picked it up after work on Wednesday; all was packaged and boxed up, ready to go - in and out in minutes, to home and in the fridge. Thursday morning I unpacked the turkey and warmed it up, savoring how good it smelled and anticipating a great meal. Sliced and served with rewarmed sides, I sat down to enjoy Thanksgiving. Then the disappointment set in. The turkey tasted nothing like smoked turkey; more like a baked turkey with a little smoke flavoring around the outside. Having had several Butterball smoked turkeys over the years which were thoroughly smoked, I wrongly believed I would be eating something similar. I will say that I did enjoy the sides, they were all very good. However, the turkey was a letdown and I won't let that happen again. read more

Being a Texas boy, I know good BBQ. Not in that snotty, 'this isn't mesquite smoked?' kinda way but rather I've had enough to know if I would want to come back. With that in mind: no, I'm ok with not coming back. For a BBQ joint just off the interstate it wasn't terrible but nothing really was memorable. The pulled chicken was ok but served cold, the chopped beef was served hot but managed to fall short. The two sauces at the table were delicious and the sole reason that I feel they deserve 3 stars. I found this place on Yelp because it was a 3-minute drive from my hotel. Showed up 15 minutes before closing and got my take out order approximately 1 minute after paying for it. I imagine they have giant vats of most things and just dole it out for fast turnaround time. I got a 2-meat meal w/ brisket, pulled pork, mac n' cheese, and baked beans. The brisket was pretty good, but perhaps a bit dry. Virtually no fat, and it showed. Not sure if it was a lean cut or if I just didn't get that part of the vat. But not bad. This joint was headed for 4 stars until I opened the second packet of meat. First of all, it made me question whether what I had already eaten was pork or brisket. But upon more serious consideration, the first thing was definitely brisket. That would make what I opened equal to pulled chicken. Double checked the receipt, definitely said pork. So either this was a semi-mummified pig that got cooked or it's chicken. Either way, it was not good. Way too dry; it would have taken about the same mass of sauce to make it edible. I ate two bites and that was it. As far as sides go...pretty standard. Good amount of butter and garlic. Well-toasted. The mac and cheese was a bit on the watery side. Pretty simple flavours - just cheese. It was extremely hot when I opened it compared to everything else. The beans were also pretty standard. No clue whether they bought a store one, but it's not bad. On the sweeter end of things, no bacon or anything like that. Prices are alright - I was expecting bigger portions to be honest. Each meat portion was probably about a third of a pound, so if you are a big eater, you might be disappointed in this relative to a southern style BBQ joint. Service is fast and friendly. read more

Not gonna lie, I freakin' love this place. I come in to town on business and inevitably, I end up here during lunch on one of those days. It's fast, the people are friendly, the prices are fine. But above all, the food is spectacular. My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich, carolina style, with curly fries. I'm set on sodium and calories for the day...but it's oh so delicious going down. On other visits I have had the brisket, the beans, the slaw and the meat-topped giant potato, and all were great. The sauces, mild and hot, are some of my favorites. The place gets packed at lunch, largely from Boeing and Spirit AeroSystems employees that come straight down 47th to here. But it is staffed accordingly and the line moves fast, food comes fast, and seats are usually available. read more
