We visited for their Happy hour (half off appetizers) which starts at 3pm. Three of us ordered quite a few appetizers. I've been here quite a few times in the past and can only say their food is delicious. I loved being able to try items I hadn't tried before, such as the steamed shrimp and their jumbo wings. The drink options for happy hour were not the priority for me, but my father was visiting from New Orleans and was not impressed with the drink options for happy hour. I think I'll visit during happy hour more as I felt I got a "bang for my buck". Even if they stopped having happy hour though, this is still one of my favorite places to eat.

Stopped in today for an early dinner and all was great. Thers are a couple things we were a little unhappy with, mostly because we were not informed before we ordered. The appetizer wings are like full pieces of chicken and, even though the happy ours are listed on table signs, the discoints only apply to those sitting at the bar.

Finally came to see if this place was worth all the hype after seeing it all over tiktok. We went on a Sunday and they had live music inside. The inside was a little too loud for our little one so we opted to sit outside on their patio. The service was great even though we were the only ones outside. I've heard mixed reviews on the service but no complaints here, staff were friendly and attentive. The food was good but not a good as the tiktokers make it seem. The consensus of the table was that we were not fans of the bread for the sandwiches but the meat on the cheese steak and pulled pork were excellent! Great portions and flavor. The baked beans were our favorite side, next time we'll skip the mac and cheese. Overall this place is good and I'm glad we tried it!

    Hog's Head Big Philly delivers.

If you're craving a real-deal Philly cheesesteak, Hog'sHead Big Philly delivers. From the first bite, you can tell they don't cut corners. The steak was tender, seasoned just right, and cooked perfectly -- juicy without being greasy. The bread made a huge difference too. Soft on the inside with just enough firmness on the outside to hold everything together without falling apart. The cheese melted evenly throughout the sandwich, blending perfectly with the steak and toppings. Every bite had flavor -- not just in the middle, but from end to end. Portion size? Big and satisfying. Definitely lives up to the "Big Philly" name.

I got the Philly ($17) and it took about an hour for it be made. I was told multiple times that it should be coming out soon but it didn't. I know it wasn't the server fault but they were definitely understaffed when I visited. The food itself was definitely overhyped from social media. Sure it was a good size but besides that, the flavor was just alright. The one side you get to pick with the sandwich was good. I felt this was a place to come to for great portion size not necessarily taste. If the service wasn't understaffed and came out in a reasonable time I would've given it a 5 star rating, perhaps in the future I'll try it again to see if it got any better. Food - The food was honestly pretty tasty. My mom had the Catfish tacos and I had the Nashville tacos. We both traded one taco and I automatically preferred the Catfish Tacos more over the Nashville Chicken Tacos. As for the appetizers, the tots were crispy and delicious and the buffalo bites are more spicy than my Nashville Tacos. 8.8/10 Service - Our waiter was very friendly and on top of things and he actually told us on Tuesdays, the Tacos and appetizers are half off. 9.2/10 Inside - The inside is nothing special but it looks nice and clean 7.0/10 Overall this is a fine place if you are craving Sandwiches or Tacos, so it's best if you go on a Tuesday. I'll give this restaurant a 8.4/10

The service was stellar! The tacos were ok but not something I'd get again. The catfish on the fried fish tacos were something I'd would order in a seafood restaurant. But I did have my eye on the cheesesteak that a couple of people had. That's definitely what I'm getting next time. And I can always appreciate a big giant glass of Arnold Palmer or sweet tea.

Very, very good. Big Philly was generously portioned at a pound of beef for $21. Unfortunately, it didn't come with fries.

The food here is delicious and tasty. I had the cheese steak pack with steak and cheese. My wife had the chicken cheese steak sandwich. She said it was very good and not dry. I also had the baby beans they were excellent. So good we came back again I got the same thing. The place is packed with people eating and drinking. I like the vibe here. We stopped by on the next day I had the pulled pork bbq sandwich. This was a let down from yesterday. The pulled pork was in some spots cold and on top of that the bottom of the bun was too soggy to eat. Bummer I did have an opportunity to talk with the owner who is funny and very cool. All in all I like this place. I recommend it and will return

I've seen Hogs Head Cafe sign from broad street a million times in my life but never stopped. While down the Tik Toc rabbit hole, I saw the most delicious food posted. So the next day my daughter and I went to pick up dinner! On a Tuesday night customers were pretty steady. The host was also taking to go orders, payment and filling those orders. Although busy and a little overwhelmed she did everything with a smile and was super polite. The menus are available at the host stand to view. But there is also like a secret menu posted on the chalk board next to the bar. There were lots of goodies on there that wasn't on the main menu. Like crab pretzels, blackberry and peach cobbler. Since it was our first time there, we wanted to keep it simple and ordered our food to go. We had the limeades that are made fresh in house; 6 Garlic Parmesan Smoked Wings; Mac and cheese and Blackberry Cobbler. The food was so hot and fresh the bag was hot and steamy on the way home. The smell was Devine the whole car ride home. I was a little curious why 6 wings were 16 bucks and to my surprise when I opened the box, these are 6 WHOLE WINGS! Not your little wing dings. 6 whole fresh wings that were as big as the palm of my hand. The wings were so fresh, seasoned to perfection. My daughter's Mac and cheese was super creamy and full of cheddar. The blackberry cobbler made me go back the next day and pick up two so I wouldn't have to share with my daughter this time. Overall this was a great meal and the customer service both times was above average. I will be stopping by again this weekend when my son comes home from college for spring break for a full sit down experience. You should come too!

    Strawberry limeade, lemon drop martini

Tuesday 2/18 3pm Had a taste for some wings and per a recommendation I decided to try Hogshead on Broad Street. Luckily for us they have happy hour starting at three and that included half off the wings, really good deal! They had half off of all the starters/appetizers. I ordered garlic parmesan wings and received BBQ. I sent those back for a correction. But took a picture anyway lol. My friend ordered flavor "sticky stinger" wings, those are the ones with the sprinkles. My garlic parmesan wings came I thought they would be a dry rub but it's wet. I don't eat spicy so that's why I chose this flavor. We also ordered plain tater tots. They were just that, plain tater tots. My garlic parmesan wings were good. I like that they were whole wings. I would eat there again. My friend said that the sticky stinger flavor wings were good and a little spicy, but that's what she wanted. She got a large strawberry limeade that she really liked a lot. She also got a lemon drop martini. She said that was good. The restaurant is a family friendly restaurant, but it does have a bar. The service we received was OK. No complaints.

Philly cheesesteak with American and Cooper cheese.
    Denise S.

Food was excellent! We saw this place on TikTok when Renzo eats reviewed it ,so we thought we'd give it a try. We had the Philly cheesesteak sub $22 and the loaded tater tots. There was a 50 minute wait in the middle of a Sunday so maybe be prepared to wait a bit. There was some confusion among the staff as to rather we could order and eat at the bar, but that is what we ended up doing. We will be going back to try the smoked ribs and barbecue.

The parking lot was full. This was a Saturday afternoon so as expected there was a line out the door which seems like the usual. It was late afternoon so we were informed that the beef rib and cheeks were sold out but they had plenty of other meats. Took us about 45 minutes to get through the line but it gave us plenty of time to decide what to get because they had a lot to offer. When we finally got to the front of the line, we were treated to some burnt end samples which melted in our mouths. We ordered 1/3 pound of pulled lamb, 2 sausage links, 1/2 pound of pork ribs, 3/4 of brisket, collard greens, dirty rice, jalapeño mac & cheese, Texas caviar, and 2 cornbreads. Pretty serious deal. Each ordering section was separated by meat and sides. All the employees that helped us were super friendly and helpful with picking stuff out. The food traveled really well and in my opinion, lived up to expectations. The brisket might have been too rich which feels crazy to say but it is some very good brisket. The lamb, sausage, and ribs were all tender in their own right. The dirty rice and mac were solid. We really liked the Texas caviar but the collards were a little too sweet than what I'm used to. Cornbread was really good too. Great BBQ sauce for the brisket as well. Absolutely worth the long wait for lunch in my opinion. As far as Virginia goes, it really is some of the best BBQ. Would love to eat in next time because their dining room/outdoor section looked pretty lively.
