This is an old classic asian buffet. I was honestly very impressed with the selection of seafood and its quality. The items were replaced often when running low and mostly tasted pretty fresh. It feels easy to get your "money's worth" here. This restaurant has been through a lot of change throughout the years, sometimes rising and falling, but as of right now I am very impressed with the reasonable price tag and efforts on their part to leave the customer feeling happy. This place has changed for the better (despite not having a working chocolate fountain anymore). The waitresses were all very attentive and capable as well! Don't expect THE highest grade seafood and appetizers here, but appreciate the fun of getting anything you want as much as you want without feeling queasy or cheated after! Our group of four was seated in a booth, and we each visited the buffet 2-3 times to try different items, not omitting dessert (you have to save room for dessert!). If you want the king crab legs, you might have to wait for the chef to bring out a new batch and outmaneuver the other customers. This was by far the worst Asian buffet I've ever experienced. Most of the food tasted old and lacked freshness. I ended up relying on the Mongolian grill station just to find something remotely fresh and edible. The Cajun seafood mix -- which included crabs, lobster, clams, and snow crab legs -- was deeply disappointing. The lobster claw meat appeared gray instead of the fresh white you'd expect, making it unappetizing and untrustworthy. The Dungeness crab was even worse -- it was served chopped in half and completely uncleaned, with internal organs and inedible gills ("dead man's fingers") still attached. These gills are meant to filter impurities and should never be cooked or consumed. Including them in the dish not only reflects poor preparation but also taints the flavor -- you're essentially tasting everything the crab filtered out while it was alive. It really makes you question whether they have trained kitchen staff or just let anyone off the street to cook food. We had a horrible experience with the staff and management in this establishment. My son who is 12 years old accidentally broke the glass lid to the rice pot. It was hit and wet and slippery, so it broke. The staff belittled my son, yelling and made him feel bad. At no point did staff or management come to me to discuss the issue. They just continued to belittled my son. I did not know till I saw his demeanor and he didn't want any food, so I asked him. I was fairly happy with this buffet. It's been years since I was here last. I came at a weird time between lunch in dinner after work on a Saturday at 3pm. The majority of the food was filled and staff was keeping up with replacements. The items on the far right seemed to be older and not as hot or fresh. Some was cold. Everything else I had was decent. Habatchi grill is always worth getting and cooked right in front of you. There was a good amount of different sushi to choose from as well. I wasn't sure what my bill would be. It was 3:35 when I finished and know the price changes at 3:30 but got there at 3. They must have a grace period as the time was about 15 mins behind on the bill and still got brunch price. I went for lunch on a Saturday and I was disappointed. The food wasn't fresh. Although there are many options, most of the food is not good. The quality was below average and most foods tasted old. Yes, you do pay for the meal before going to the table. It is not cheap, but neither is the food. The colorful spread of quality fruits, veggies, fish, fowl, crustaceans, beef, and sweets was nothing short of amazing (and "amazing" is an overused word!). The staff was super friendly, professional, helpful, and kept the place clean. No, they don't fill your plate for you, but there were a lot of people working the food stations, keeping tables bussed, floors clean, and offering drinks. We were MORE than happy to CHOOSE to leave a 20% tip, even though it is buffet style. Check it out unless you want cheap food. There are plenty other places for that. read more

We were hoping for the lunch special price of 13.99 but since it was a holiday we had to get the 29.99 special that included steak and crab legs. The price is more expensive than other Chinese buffets. I only eat during dinner time (dinner price). My friends say the sushi was okay. They don't bring out snow crab legs like they used to. It is now mixed seafood (snow crab legs, clam, etc). They have lobster, but I prefer shrimps. They get 4 stars because I love shrimps! They have 4 different shrimp dishes (walmut shrimp, fried shrimp, steam shrimp with veggies, and shrimp in some sweet sauce, which I love all of them. My friends and I love the hibachi grill. Listen. I was expecting a lot more from Hokkaido.   First off, the price is absurd. $18.99 a person is a bit much for the service and food offered. They have a lot of food options, but nothing that would be suitable for a child who is picky, or an adult who doesn't like Japanese food. Their website says otherwise, which is misleading.   Secondly, everyone at my table had some type of issue with their drinks. My water tasted chemically and others mentioned their pop tasted as if the syrup mix was off, causing their drink to be way too sweet.   Third, this place is not only overpriced, but the staff/owner is severely CHEAP! There is a sign when you walk into the restaurant stating that each person is limited to 7 crab legs a person. If anyone eats more than 7 then it is an additional $1 per crab leg! The man who led us into the restaurant made us all stop and read the sign so we understood before entering. The point of an 'all you can eat' buffet is to be able to eat all you can without someone threatening to charge you more because they feel as if you had too much of something. This is just the tip of the iceberg.   They gave my table of 4 people 4 napkins to start off with. No problem here... until we needed more napkins. When I asked for more napkins the waitress informed me that we need to completely use every napkin on our table before she will bring us more. She might as well have said, please use those dirty napkins again, because we are too cheap to bring you more. And finally, the thing that bothers me the most with this place is that there is a small sign on every table stating that "if you waste food then they will charge your bill an additional $8." The sign says it's because they like to keep their prices low, but their prices arent low! I remembered this sign from my last visit to Hokkaido in 2016. My last visit there, the person who paid made sure that we didn't waste any food, yet he still paid the fee. This visit, since I was paying, I assured that everyone got small serving sizes to make sure they liked the food, to eliminate waste. The only scraps left on our plates were bones from chicken and the shells to some crab legs.THEY STILL CHARGED US $8!!!   This fee is completely ridiculous and is just an excuse for them to charge more money. I could have thrown all of our scraps on the ground under someone elses table and sent back completely empty plates and they probably would have still charged us an $8 fee.   The food was ok, but the way this business is ran is the reason I gave them 1 star. I'm surprised this place hasn't been closed down yet for having such a lax approach to COVID. They told us to wear a mask when we go to the buffet area but none of the other customers seemed to have gotten the memo. There were multiple people that hovered over the food without a mask and the employees didn't say anything when they saw it happen. The restaurant should also provide single use gloves so that people can safely handle the shared tongs/ serving utensils but this also doesn't happen. I have passed this place for years on my way to the Waterfront never really wondering about it until a friend told me they went here for a celebration dinner. Then, my friend surprised me by taking me here for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of choices and how delicious most everything tasted. After seeing what was on the buffet, I already knew this wasn't the place for me. I had never been there, so I wasn't sure of protocol. I asked for crab legs which I had to order. They were good. A pound was 19.99. Ok...why was I charged for the buffet that I didn't even eat at? The buffet was absolutely terrible. It was a horrible experience all the way around.
