Hush Puppies (10) Snow Crab Legs (1 LB)

First time here and it had its ups and downs. The whole place was covered in marker, which I thought was interesting decor. Inside and out you could write anywhere. I thought the entire place was not very clean, but I understand how hard it is keeping up with splashes from breaking seafood pieces open and butter. The bathroom especially, but that's where everybody goes to wash their hands after eating so i guess I can give them some slack. I've been to places in the south, where they put sinks out in the dining room for this exact reason. I thought the food was overpriced, but if I understood where they were actually getting the seafood from then I could maybe justify it. It's always scary ordering seafood in Pittsburgh, especially when the restaurant doesn't specify where they get it from on their menu. The hush puppies were decent but a little dry. I got snow crab legs and you get to choose a seasoning. I chose the Cajun one they recommended. I thought it was good but over seasoned. My hands still smell like it the day after. I would've been fine with just steamed crab legs honestly. It came with potatoes and an ear of corn, which I thought was plenty of food for one person. Our service was fine, nothing special to really say here. If I was craving a seafood boil type of food, I would come again if I was in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way by any means. But it was decent enough to return.

Very good food, very good service and very good ambience. But keep in mind the food is super messy but damn good. The bibs and gloves are a must as they provide. Without them, you're going home in gross close

If this were closer, we'd definitely go more often. It reminded me of a Joe's Crab Shack with a okay area did kids. The place was covered in graffiti. So much that u wonder if some of it is fake. Seems unrealistic for the writing to be everywhere. In spite of that, the restaurant has a good vibe and a huge waiting room, so I'm sure they're popular. The service wasn't very good even tho they weren't busy. The seafood bread was delicious. I could eat just that. They were out of the gum o & etouffee, so we went with fried scallops (we'd never had scallops fried) & Cajun fried rice, silver we'd never had that either. Sadly, there is nothing Cajun about their Cajun fried rice. In fact, it was very bland fried rice. It tasted like lean cuisine. Very disappointing. When we mentioned that the rice had Jo Cajun seasoning and asked for more, the waitress explained that there's nothing Cajun about the fried rice. It's only called that since they're a Cajun restaurant. So disappointed by the false advertising. We knew we were in a Cajun restaurant & would face never ordered regular fried rice. The fried clams were okay. Wouldn't get them again. I think if there were seasoning in the breading or they were served with a good garlic aioli they'd have been good. Just weird with cocktail sauce. Looking forward to going back when we have bigger appetites since a lot of the food looked delicious and the seafood bread is amazing.

Tried this place because a friend recommended it and I'm so happy I did. The restaurant allows customers to sign their name on the walls and chairs so don't be alarmed if you see a lot of "graffiti" everywhere as that's the vibe. The music was on point as they had a good playlist mixed with Hits/R&B going. The food was great! I had the appetizer platter and wings because I really wanted a mix of the apps on the list. For the apps, I got the fried okra, fish sticks, and hush puppies; for the wings I did lemon pepper and buffalo; we also had a side of seafood bread which was SOOO GOOD! I also got some sweet tea and as a southern girl living in the north, this was the best sweet tea as it's truly sweet. The prices were all at market price so it may seem expensive but Pittsburgh isn't located on the coast so I'm not surprised with the prices. Everything was great, the food, the service, and the music. I will say the place does get packed so go early especially on the weekend. I definitely will be back again.

Went on a Monday and the restaurant was pretty slow. Remembered to bring a Sharpie with us so we could sign our names (we didn't know about this the first time we went). The restaurant is decorated in cute nautical theme and you can sign your name or wrote a message throughout the establishment. They are known for the seafood boil, if you aren't into that there isn't a ton on the menu otherwise during dinner (just appetizers and sides). The seafood boils are very good & filling. Three people in our party had the shrimp/crab combo in garlic butter, I had the house cajun, another person in our party has the old bay. We all enjoyed the boils! A few people in our party didn't want a boil so they had shrimp baskets and other appetizers and sides enjoyed them. Not sure if it is common practice here but everything came out at once. The salads, the wings, and all the other food. We were expecting the wings and salads before the main courses. I unfortunately only gave 4 stars because our service wasn't great especially considering how dead it was and there wasn't an option to give 3.5 stars. We had to ask for refills, our server didn't take dirty dishes away when he came to the table and he forgot a few things. However he was friendly and was a younger gentleman so maybe he is still getting his feet wet! Be aware, If you go with a party of 7 or more they do automatically add on 18% gratuity. It shows up on the bill as a service charge. The server didn't tell us but I noticed the signs walking in which was a good thing because our elderly relatives were ready to add an additional tip not realizing the tip was already added. Overall we enjoyed our meals and would recommend.

I heard a lot of mixed reviews so I had to try it out myself! The waitress was so friendly and attentive. She knew what she was doing. The place was spacious and great lighting. The food came out in a timely manor and so hot! We got greeted with their seafood cheesy bread and it was delicious, so garlicky and buttery. We (3) shared the #5 combo for $52 and 3apps $12.50 and we still had leftovers. I would totally come back!

My daughter and I love food, and we really love seafood. I wanted to treat her to a new adventure so we both decided to try Storming Crab while we were out and about in Homestead which isn't very often. The young guy that was standing at the host station was busy on his cell phone and didn't even acknowledge us when we walked in. Thankfully Andrew was awesome! Andrew seated us and was also bartender and our server. He took the time to explain how Storming Crab dishes could be ordered and was great with recommendations. The seafood bread was a big notch up from regular garlic bread topped with a creamy spread of seafood and melted cheese. It's very easy to eat all the seafood bread and nothing else. My daughter ordered the Create Your Own Combo of 1 lb. Snow Crab Legs with potato and corn, with spicy Cajun butter. The crab legs were a generous portion and stood no chance with my daughter. I ordered the Whole Lobster Create Your Own Combo with spicy Cajun butter and was a bit disappointed. For the price of the lobster, the lobster was more shell than meat meaning the claw meat was a lot smaller than the shell and was a bit tough. The experience was fine, and the food was good, a nice change from Joe's Crab Shack or Red Lobster. That said I wouldn't mind going back to try other combos.

I was very excited to come here as i eat a lot of seafood during the summer when I am at the beach. I didn't expect the quality to be as fresh but the crab legs today were actually very good. The corn, potato, and sausage were also very good with all the sauce. The clams were good but a lot smaller than I was expecting. The shrimp was a little rubbery and the boiled egg was a little dry so I would not recommend those. I'm sure it could vary on the day of the week and time of year though. We did also try the garlic bread and it was so good I wish we got more. The service was a little slow but we were in no rush so it was fine. The place is nicely decorated with to make it feel like you are at the beach.

Ok so waited forever to try here since I saw them building last summer, opened in October 2022 and 7 months later here we are! We came for a late dinner at 7pm on a Saturday and to our surprise it was almost empty and no wait. Our waitress was Kristy and we LOVED her!!! She made the dinner better than it could've been as first timers for a best friend meal! She have us suggestions, took our photo for us, very attentive and friendly. I love the decorations and artwork - really made me feel like I was in an episode of spongebob lol We had this amazing cheesy boat bread that they appear to give to everyone as an appetizer and it is melt in your mouth, unexpectedly amazing! Ordered martinis, I had the gummy bear one which tasted just like haribo ones and made pretty strong for a small size. I did the make your own broil of 2 seafood chosen as blue crab legs, scallops as well as choice of veggies which I got broccoli and potatoes. I like the choices of sauce and decide how spicy, I'm a spicy person and I got hot which was a comfortable spiciness. Scallops were nice and thick, crab legs weren't bad for their size. I loved the sauce and it was all so filling and such a good time. Waitress gave us markers to write our names on the wall and it's just a huge fun vibe. Kristy deserves a raise! Amazing waitress. Had a great time, I like the flat dishes rather than buckets that joe's crab shack serves with and they remind you to use the bag to boil in at home if you have leftovers or will taste rubbery. Can't wait to come again! Priced well!

the food was delicious, snow crabs were easy to break but this time it was served not as hot as I would like. It was busier than usual so I understand that they wanted to wait until all members of the party's dishes were ready before serving us. I really liked the theme of the restaurant (pirate ship).

I stopped by here yesterday with my wife and her parents for lunch. We happened to be at the waterfront looking for a lunch place whenever I remembered Storming Crab. Since it was early on a Wednesday the place was fairly dead whenever we got there. It's a large restaurant with a big seafood theme. That means that they have fake crabs, lobsters, traps, netting, ships rope and docks all throughout the restaurant. Then even more interesting, you are allowed to sign almost everything in the restaurant and so there are names and grafitti everywhere. It's worth noting that our server on this day was super nice to us. For my lunch on this day I decided to go with one of their lunch time boils which means you can get 1/2 pounds of seafood instead of full pounds. I choose the head off shrimp and crawfish with their signature boil in super hot. My wife also ordered a lunch boil and went with 6 scallops, the head off shrimp in the old bay garlic sauce. After we had ordered but before the food came out we all got a piece of their seafood toast. It was Texas toast with cheese, Mayo and crab on it. I enjoyed it, especially the cheese, even if I didn't get any of the crab flavor. A little while later our lunches came in their bags and were plated table side by our waitress. My wife's looked good and true to my ask, mine looked much redder and spicier. That wasn't a bad thing though as I absolutely loved both the spice and flavor in mine. It was near the top of my spice limit but not over it. I also really enjoyed the shrimp, potatoes and corn in it. What I wasn't a huge fan of was my crawfish. There were absolutely massive and so I didn't get as much tail meat as I had expected and I probably wouldn't order them again. I also would have loved some rice or fries to sop up the rest of my sauce and would gladly order them next time as my sauce was that good. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While I wasn't expecting too much, I really did enjoy the sauce and most of the items in it.

From Cuddy's soul food I ordered a pork soul roll and a steak and cheese soul roll. I started out with the smaller of the two which ended up being the pork roll. It was a bit on the greasy side but the flavor was good. It was very porky and I appreciated the collard greens which cut through the pork and then the sweet potatoes which added a bit of sweetness. Then the steak and cheese roll is what you would expect. Lots of steak and cheese with a hint of peppers which made it a very tasty roll. Then I would I be remiss to not mention the sauce which was sweet and spicy and absolutely delicious. I enjoyed dipping both rolls into it and imagine I would like it on just about anything. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I thought that both of my rolls here were good, albeit greasy, and I would be interested in trying some of their ribs in the future.

I ordered the 4-piece chicken wing dinner thinking that full-size wings and two sides would be enough food. I was wrong. The wings were about 50% as large as I expected, leaning closer to what I would order by the dozen at any sports bar. My friend's 4-piece chicken tender meal had noticeably more meat and even cost less. Which was very disappointing because the wings were delicious! Perfectly fried with a textured, well-seasoned skin and juicy meat inside. My side of candied yams was fine; the sauce was too watery to stick, but it was sweet enough and the yams were cooked acceptably. My side of macaroni & cheese was flat-out inedible. The noodles were boiled/baked into mushy oblivion with no detectable texture. The cheese sauce had separated both from the noodles and from itself, into grainy lumps and oil. It was repulsive and should never have left the kitchen. After I housed my wings and yams, I was still famished. I quickly ordered a batch of chicken tenders to satisfy my craving, and they were delightful. Juicy, well-spiced and the perfect amount of breading. Cuddy's chicken comes with dipping sauce included, but only two flavors are free and the rest are $1.00 surcharge. Which is odd, because these premium choices are relatively standard wing flavors like "tangy gold" (BBQ), garlic parmesan, and spicy BBQ. Overall, I was disappointed. I might return now that I know what (not) to order, but I would never go out of my way for what is a roll of the dice on food quality.
