Where do i start. This was at bare minimum a let down and a health, and food safety hazard. the nigiri was sat out for hours, very stale, warm, not hot just luke warm. Very freezer burnt. taste so fishy, more fishy from biting into a whole raw fish right out of the ocean. The "honey cake" was just plain out destroyed, it was just a mush, and what wasn't a mush was floppy and flimsy. The pinapple was rotten, very rotten. I took a bite to see, don't really know what i expected, but yes it was 100% rotten. My husband and I went for lunch today. I wouldn't even say the food was average, even for buffet food. Of the things I tried, a lot of it was flavorless and way over cooked. NOTHING WAS HOT the noodles and rice where above room temperature but that's about it, everything was way below room temperature despite just being put on the buffet and had the appearance of steaming hot (was just water under the trays steaming) The ribs where bland and unflavorful, the chicken was overcooked and bland, nothing was relatively good Went over to the hibachi to get some actually fresh and warm food, there was no one there so I rang the bell, waited for 5 minutes nothing, went and asked if there was someone for the hibachi, they said just ring the bell, went back and rang it again and waited for about 5 minutes for no one to show up (no one did) finally gave up on trying to get something to eat Got the check and went to talk to the manager lady upfront only to be laughed at by her and the server because "sushi supposed to be cold" tried to explain it was still frozen only got laughed at and ignored, she was beyond rude and ignorant and completely ignored the fact everything else is cold and no one is actually running the hibachi, she could care less and just ignores you and when she does listen just laughs at you, complete psycho behavior Worst food I have ever gotten, been coming here every year for the last 5-6 years for my birthday and this year was disgusting Drove an hour and a half, left hungry and disappointed, this was dinner too so I can't imagine how bad lunch is. This place use to be my go to for buffet. Last year I went here and food was not as good as prior years so I did not come back for another year. We entered here for buffet on thanksgiving. The price was a little bit higher due to this being a holiday and they have special items food. The food was okay. Lobster was a bit stalled and tastes old. Crawfish is dead crawfish that they cooked and tastes old also. I do like their stir fried green beans. The desserts are decent. The pineapples were sweets. The strawberry mouse was good. There were many options, everything was fresh, and like most, they had a Mongolian-style grill. The offerings at the grill were a little space and they had items behind them they only offered to family and friends and made no effort to offer to me and the others in line who were not connected or family. Went there as part of a school field trip cultural tour. Roughly 150 people. Yes, you read it right. I don't know where to start. There are so many options probably close to 100's like chicken, beef, pork, noodles , sushi etc. along with hibachi. If you want to taste lot of things for 10-15 dollars max per head. This is the place for you. I really liked whatever I tried. No complaints. Smell: I really had a bad experience trying my first Chinese buffet few years ago in a small town in Kentucky. I'm happy this place doesn't stink like sea food market. Timing: given the 150 people , we had limited time. But, we were able to go through everything and pick what we want. I would say please allocate 90 minutes if you want to eat leisurely. Service is good. You will have silverware and water in the table. Tips: 1. Check their website for coupons and weekdays are priced less comparing to weekend. Given the summer break , take your kids for lunch. You won't regret it. 2. On your way out, grab your fortune cookie from reception. Post lunch: I haven't had any stomach issues, the next day or any illness because of having food here. He grabbed my plate while I was still eating and when we said something he asked if I wanted my plate back that was stacked already! This buffet was decent before COVID closures, OK after it reopened for dine in, but at our latest visit around 2pm on a Saturday in late August, quality and options were far less than before. Sushi options were sparse and the rolls that were out looked very similar/ not different from each other, except for the fried roll and Inari. Hot foods were just OK. Hibachi guy seemed not interested in working but we got our plate. Tried the chocolate cake from dessert area; it was dry and barely edible. Jello is the only dessert that is as it should be. We were lucky we didn't get sick from anything. We don't go to a buffet expecting great service so this place was ok. read more

Hokkaido is one of the more solid Asian buffet options in the St. Louis area. I tried this place for the first time since COVID and was a little hesitant as I didn't know about precautions the restaurant was taking. As usual there was plenty of parking available in the plaza right off Lindbergh. There is still lots of variety in the foods. However, the workers scoop the food for you now. Although not as fun as building your plate yourself, I appreciate having the buffet open. I got some pineapple chicken, shrimp, green beans and rice on my first plate. I ended up getting a plate from the Mongolian BBQ station as well. Finally, I had some honey cake and banana pudding for desert. Overall, the food quality is solid for the price you pay. The service was good as drinks were refilled quickly and plates were taken often. I thought the restaurant was kept pretty clean so no complaints there. As other reviewers have stated, the server was hostile over a tip. We weren't ready to leave yet but had paid our bill. The server stated to my wife that the tip was not included on the bill in a very rude way. We aren't against tipping, but she was rude, and my wife was concerned that she was going to chase us out to the parking lot because of the aggressiveness. My wife wasn't even done with dessert when this happened! Management needs to have a word with their staff and make it clear that aggressively demanding tips is not okay. Until that happens we won't be back, and will advise others to avoid it as well. Besides that, the food was okay but very salty. We did enjoy the dishes for the most part.
