Tried Hola Seoul thanks to Yelper Tina H! She picked up kimbap and wings for us to try. * kimbap - love spam and their kimbap was super fresh, tasty! Would get this again and good to know there's a local place (that's not Trader Joe's ha) that carries it! * Korean fried chicken - 2x fried for extra crunch helped keep this crispy even when not eating fresh and in a container! Pretty tasty soy garlic as well as spicy. Love that it came with pickled radish yum. I'll have to stop in to try it fresh to really get a sense how it compares to places like Bonchon!

How I displayed my goodies from Hola Seoul, got all 3 flavors of chicken wings and both the bulgogi and Spam KimBap
    Tina H.

Hola Seoul's fried chicken and kimbap are really tasty, especially the two flavored wings, the original fried chicken is just ok, it's a little under seasoned. The bulgogi and spam kimbaps are freshly made and make for the perfect snack and prices felt reasonable for the amount of food you were getting. I picked up my order just a few minutes past my pick up time and my food was packed and ready to go, and because the chicken is double fried, they were able to survive the 15 minute trip back home and still be crispy and delicious for once my guests arrived!

Another visit here! The food is great enough that I keep coming back. This time, I got the popcorn chicken (soy garlic), which I am a big fan of! I do like this better than the boneless thighs. I feel like it is easier to eat, and I really enjoy the crispiness of it all. I recommend making your own side of rice to eat with the chicken! The chicken can be quite heavy by itself, so having the rice offsets it nicely. Buying a side of rice there is $2 which seems a lot for a small portion. The regular fries are decent, not as crispy as I'd like them to be. Kind of pricy for $4. I don't think I'd get it again. Overall, I know I will be back again in the future. If you are looking for good Korean fried chicken, this is the place.

I had the spicy pork cupbop and the honey nut pancake for lunch. The spicy pork cupbop is a bowl with really delicious spicy pork on top of three kinds of carbs: rice, noodles, and fries. Very tasty and a large portion. The Honey Nut Pancake was a sweet pancake stuffed with nuts and honey and drizzled with chocolate. It satisfies a sweet tooth without being too sweet. My order was ready quickly.

This is more of a 3.5 stars, but I think it has potential. First time for Korean wings and this one delivered on texture, crispy, check. Small order for $12. has six pieces. Half half-spicy and sweet. However, both were on the edge of too sweet for me. Spicy had the gochujang as a base and sesame oil. I also had the bulgogi tacos. Flavors were good but more beef to greens ratio would be a better bite. Located within a lobby with two restaurants. Better for takeout but it has two dining counters by the window.

My family and I ordered a bunch of food for delivery from Hola Seoul recently, and I loved it! They offer Korean fried chicken, bibimbap, dosirak boxes, shareables, and Korean bbq tacos. We tried the popcorn chicken, fried chicken thighs, beef bibimbap, deep fried dumplings, and the kimchi fries. Everything was packaged nicely and fresh. The fried chicken was super crispy and the sauces were delicious! We got the soy garlic and hot and spicy sauces. The hot and spicy didn't seem very spicy, but had good flavor. The soy garlic is a good choice and the kids liked it. I particularly enjoyed the popcorn chicken - with all the mentions in the Yelp reviews, I figured we couldn't go wrong ordering that. The bibimbap was nicely presented with veggies, egg, and sauce - the amount of meat was a little sparse but we had plenty of other food to share. My favorite item was definitely the kimchi fries - yum! Fries are topped with bacon, sausage, sautéed kimchi, cheddar, sour cream, and spicy mayo. The spicy mayo was a little spicy but I loved it. These were so tasty and I'd definitely order them again. Next time I'd get the popcorn chicken, kimchi fries, and probably a couple of tacos to share. If you like Korean fusion, this is a great spot to try.

Kimchi Fries & Korean Fried Chicken Burger (Soy Garlic)

Honestly one of the best places to get food from when visiting Ann Arbor for an affordable bite! Right by UofM, it's a popular lunch spot for students. You can usually find a few here studying while eating lunch. It's relatively quiet here and it's a small shop with a bit of seating but it's better as takeout. The korean chicken burger (soy garlic / spicy) was really tasty. Perfectly fried with a delicious coating of sauce. It was delicious bite after delicious bite. The buns were toasted as well. For $8, it was really worth. The kimchi fries were also crispy and hot. Kimchi was okay and the sausage/hotdog was also pretty good and flavorful. Cheese was half melted but it was fine, no cheese pulls expected. For $11, I don't think it's worth but to try it once, it was okay. It was good at least. The staff here are super friendly and that's always a great thing to experience.

Overall, a 3.5/5, but I'll bump it up to a 4 because the "Popcorn Chicken" with soy garlic was delicious. I haven't been here since the pandemic, but my friend wanted to get Hola Seoul take out for dinner. I probably should have looked on Yelp before ordering. This is what we thought about the food we ordered: * Popcorn Chicken with Soy Garlic: This was incredibly tasty and I loved the soy garlic glaze. It's sweet and flavorful! Even though we got take out, the chicken was still crispy and warm, so my friend and I really enjoyed this. We got the small for $12, but there was actually so much chicken! We are satisfied with this and would recommend it - seems like it's their most popular item on the menu! * Seasoned French Fries: These were soggy and terribly sad. They taste and shaped like the generic "frozen fries from the grocery store." Overall, not seasoned well. They were bearable after dousing it with a bunch of ketchup, but definitely a 2/5. * Bulgolgi Taco: The menu online said they came in corn tortillas, but these tortillas were definitely made of flour. I can see why this is a popular choice, but I thought the marinade on the meat was a bit too sweet for my taste. I probably wouldn't get it again. The slaw and sambal aioli were nice touches, but a taco for $3.50 is too much. * Spicy Pork Taco: I liked this one better because it's not overly sweet, but the meat was pretty unmemorable. I'd probably get it again if it wasn't $3.50. I'd come back to Hola Seoul again, but only for their "Popcorn Chicken". That was fantastic! My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed every crunch during every bite.

Placed an order for pick up on a Saturday around lunchtime. Small line for pickup, and they were packaging my food just as I arrived. Staff was very friendly. Food was great. Chicken is crispy - I love the soy garlic flavor. I got the small size ($12) and there was a good amount. Had some leftovers. Dukbokki is spicy, and the kimchi fries were yummy too! Would recommend.

    Nicole E.

I have had their their chicken BBQ box. The chicken wasn't bad. I always want to try their kimchi fries but it comes with bacon and sausage, two things I don't eat. If they offered up the kimchi fries without the pork, would really like to try that out, since I love kimchi adored on my food. I would eat the chicken again in a pinch, it's not bad.

Medium wings $17 for 12 pieces, half spicy, half soy garlic
    Susan C.

Came back twice more for their wings (the current menu doesn't seem to have drumsticks anymore, at least not during the summer), and bulgogi box. Great portions and flavors and still loving the food. That soy garlic glaze is addicting. Still don't love that they don't pick up the phone, but online ordering has been pretty spot on and food ready within the allotted timeframe so I guess that does the job.

    Duk-Bok-Ki
    Amie N.

Food was pretty good, and pretty reasonably priced compared to other places in Ann Arbor I've visited so far. The small size for popcorn chicken was $12 and was decently sized. We got the soy garlic and hot & spicy flavored popcorn chicken, but we preferred the soy garlic because it seemed to be less sweet. We also got the duk-bok-ki (also around $12) and there were mixed reviews from our crowd. I thought it was pretty good, because the last duk-bok-ki I had was way too sweet and not that spicy. But my friends felt like this one wasn't sweet enough. Maybe I've just never had good duk-bok-ki, but I thought this one was alright. Overall, if you're looking for fast, Korean fusion food, Hola Seoul is the one to go to!

    Jessica L.

This shop is Korean owned and reminds me of my own hometown. The chicken is marinated really well and the kimchi fries are delicious! I must say that it's not quite as crispy as I would want it to be, but it definitely is one of the better Korean fried chicken places on campus.

This place is aligned fairly well though with food in Korea though ie not highly westernized. This place is in the center of the college area on Liberty and State street. The selection is not extensive but the basics are here including BBQ. Side dishes are decent, Kimchi, which is fundamental to any Korean meal and varies by region, is always included and people have strong opinions about. Theirs is OK but not top notch. Other side dishes are decent. Whatever we ordered, BBQ, Yuk Gae Jang, Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap (Rice. Vegetables and beef inn stone pot), other was pretty good.....just like Seoul Garden used to be before ownership change. We used to go almost exclusively to Seoul Garden near the mall off Boardwalk but after ownership change stopped as the taste changed significantly and not for the better. Its nice to have The Seoul is an option. They have beer and soju (Ubiquitous Korean liquor in Korea that along with Kimchi is many Koreans blood) Environment of the restaurant is modern but still a bit cozy. Overall, definitely worth a try. While we are at it, I have spent allot of time in Japan on business (some vacationing too) and I know it's trendy to go there now especially with the exchange rate, and by all means go, allot to see and experience (and eat!) there. But don't overlook Korea. The two countries have a torrid history and don't want to admit they are similar in many ways....but they are and Korea is loaded with great places to go and food to eat. Traveling can be done on any budget, feel free to reach out if you want to learn more. Also love to hear from experienced travelers, love to learn of new places and things to do.

Plus I can never decide what I want, so it was great to be able to get a combo with two different options. I went with the bulgogi/nengmyun combo and we also got an order of mandoo to share. Our server was super patient and helpful with navigating the menu. The food came out quickly and everything was pretty tasty - I loved the mandoo (dumplings) - they were big and filled nicely. The nengmyun was good, not the best version of this dish that I've had, but it's hard to find in my city so I was happy to have theirs. I loved the spicy pork bulgogi; super flavorful and not too spicy. Nate got the sundubu stew which was delicious and quite spicy! The portions were large, especially for the price. I got the "Amazing Shrimp" sushi roll and my friend got the "Grilled Angus Short Rib". As noted on the menu it comes with Mashed Potatoes, Shishito Peppers, and Garlic Chives. Per my friend's request, the order did not come with the Shishito Peppers or Garlic Chives, but it also didn't have the potatoes. After asking for the potatoes, our server went back and we could hear her yelling at the kitchen staff. Minutes later she came out with a bowl of 3 potatoes, not mashed and not hot. My roll was great and I'd definitely order again if I come back, but I'm honestly not too inclined to after this experience. Lastly, the restaurant itself was freezing. It was a cold day but it was way colder inside than it should've been. We ended up keeping our coats on for most of dinner.
