I absolutely LOVE this place. If your looking for your holiday inn DONT come here. Some of these reviews are absolutely ridiculous! This is an extremely small town and the locals like it that way. So if your coming from the city and expecting some 4 star hotel, don't bother! You come here to get away from that. The hotel is rickety and old and has a ton of history. It's filled with pictures and stories dating back to when it was first built. The food is great and the people are always friendly to me. I've never had an issue. The back patio has a beautiful view overlooking the Yuba River. Don't bother bringing your kids through the bar you have to go around haha And no dogs no cell service!! But if your looking to get out of reality for a bit I'd recommend visiting the little town of Washington!

A friend and I spent the night on Saturday night at this hotel. I must say this is the most unique experience I've ever had at a hotel. All of the locals and the people that run the place are very friendly and very hospitable. One of the local residents who lives a few doors down offered to have us bring our motorcycles into his garage so they wouldn't get dew on them overnight sitting in the parking lot. We took him up on it and it worked out just fine. There is a lot of memorabilia and history associated with this hotel. the hotel is old in the decor is very interesting. I don't think this place is for everybody but I must say I enjoyed the heck out of my stay and I definitely plan on coming back again. The views from the back deck overlooking the South Fork of the Yuba River are spectacular. The hotel was not very crowded. We ordered fish and chips in the café last night and they were very good had a traditional breakfast in the morning and it was also very good this is a little tiny town and it definitely has a small-town feel to it. There is no cell phone coverage and there was something really nice about being off the grid for a couple of days enjoying the woods. The rooms are very small and the decor is extremely simple. It is all that I needed. I slept like a baby.

Awwwww.... A place to reflect, relax, rewind and rethink. Seriously! Hubby and I were attending a local event at the Fairgrounds in Grass Valley. "Winter Fun Fest" is a Cal 4WD weekend festival we go to every year. Normally there is snow galore, but this year was dry. We decided to venture to Washington for an early morning drive and views of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. We arrived at 10:00 am and it was freezing outside. Upon entering the hotel, we were greeted by, Mickey, who made us feel warm and welcomed. I ordered a bloody Mary which could have been breakfast. Hubby and I wandered up to the top deck of hotel where the sun glistened off the dew dropped trees and the local~ yocals shared their stories of yesterday. The Yuba River off the back deck is beautiful and surrene. The hotel has, according to Mickey, 14? rooms available, from small, bath shared, to a private suite and bath with a personal deck!! My fave!! We love The Washington Hotel and plan on booking a weekend trip soon!

If there was a negative star rating, I would choose it. Absolutely the WORST meal we have ever had in our entire lives, and the service too.

The love and care that has been put into their guests having a perfect experience is obvious the second you arrive. You are greeted by the friendliest staff and you will find your personalized envelope with everything you need to kick off your stay. We stayed in the Feather Suite and it was spacious with a nice welcome book that tells you about the staff, the local restaurants, sites to see nearby and the number to text if you need anything at all. They do host a happy hour a couple doors down at Boomtown and depending on when you are staying, you may catch trivia night. Coffee and breakfast are pretty much right outside your door. Everywhere we went had #vegan options too. This location is incredible. You can fall asleep to the sound of the river or sit out on the patio to relax. Everything is just a few steps from your door. We walked right across the street to Jadaa's restaurant for lunch one of the days we were here. The town closes up fairly early do you don't need to worry about noise. You will get the best nights sleep here.

And 20 minutes later when I woke him a second time because I had locked the keys in the room, he was equally kind. The room was basic, but clean and functional. We had a room with a king bed. The sheets were soft and comfortable. The bed was firm (not typically our preference) but still very comfy. Big bathroom, with excellent water pressure. In the morning I popped over to the attached restaurant for a coffee, which was delicious (and complimentary for hotel guests). Shortly after, we went for brunch. I had the BEST fish tacos - beautifully seasoned and topped with a fresh mango salsa. We also loved the fries. Homecut and well spiced. Overall, this is a basic hotel. The room is clean and comfortable, though dated. But the people are what make this place worth staying at. Every single person we encountered was kind, polite, and helpful. They definitely know how to make guests feel welcome and valued.

Pros: The motel is kitschy, rustic, and a decent value for the price especially compared to everything closer to the ski resorts. The junior suite was spacious and well equipped. Beds were comfy with a heavy comforter Heat was sufficient Back yard area has a fire pit (not for winter) and seating, lots of snow for the kiddos There's a restaurant attached but it's just ok - still, a major convenience if the weather is rough Cons: Parking lot and walkways were pretty covered with ice and not shoveled out well - I know they had a big storm the day before but it was hard to park and get small kids down to our room which was down a few flights of outdoor stairs One of the sinks had weird tasting water - the other did not, so I don't think this is just the local water Upstairs noise from footsteps or plumbing is very apparent - light sleepers beware.

Everyone ordered at the counter, and the staff brought the food out to our table. The service was friendly, and the food arrived quickly, especially considering the size of our group. I ordered the Prospector's Burger and added bacon. The burger itself was excellent. It was juicy, flavorful, and easily the standout item of the meal. If I'm being honest, I probably wouldn't pay extra for the bacon again because it didn't add much to the overall burger, but the burger itself was absolutely worth ordering. I also tried the pesto chicken sandwich. The flavor was good, and the pesto was tasty, but it could have used a little more chicken and filling overall. The bread was fresh, and it was still an enjoyable sandwich. The fries were a bit overcooked for my taste and ended up being a little too crispy. One person in our group ordered the clam chowder special and unfortunately found it so salty that it was difficult to eat. Even with those few critiques, we had a good experience. The burger was excellent, the atmosphere was relaxed, the beer selection was solid, and the staff was friendly. We'd definitely stop in again if we were passing through Dutch Flat.

We arrived before check in time and Andrea greeted us with a smile and offered to check us in early. I told her I have sleeping issues and could we be placed in a quiet area with a room. She said she knew the building with rooms 163-170. When we got to the room it was nice and warm, (a problem that we had at The Pines, a small space heater only because the wall unit wasn't working and no maintenance on the property.) We're old and there's good lighting for night time on the exterior. I left the party at 9 PM and stopped by the office for an extra blanket. The two women working were friendly and helpful. The bathroom had a new shower, glass doors and a rain shower head. I always bring my grey slippers for travel. The carpet was very clean and I was so pleased because I'm not used to that. The moment I walked in, I was hit with an overwhelming chemical smell--something like bleach, degreaser, or another strong cleaner. It was so overpowering that it made the room uncomfortable right away. The bathroom was the biggest disappointment. The bathtub drain was dirty, there were skid marks on the toilet seat, and there was hair left in the sink. None of those issues should ever be present in a room that's supposed to be cleaned before a guest arrives. The bedroom wasn't any better. The comforter had a noticeable blue stain and a rip in it. It was obvious the damage was visible before the bed was made, yet it was put on anyway. To make matters worse, there were actual boogers on the ceiling and another one on the bed frame. I have pictures documenting all of these issues. The hotel itself is clearly older, and while I understand older properties require more maintenance, many of these issues could have been addressed with basic housekeeping and attention to detail. There were also paint chips missing from the walls and several other small maintenance issues that would have been simple to repair. None of these are major renovations--they're basic touch-ups that would make a significant difference in the appearance and quality of the room. My reservation was originally for two nights, but the room was in such poor condition that I couldn't bring myself to stay a second night. I checked out after just one night because I simply wasn't comfortable spending another evening there. Considering the condition of the room and the price I paid, I do not feel I received the quality of accommodations I was promised. I would appreciate appropriate compensation for this experience. A room at this price point should be clean, well-maintained, and ready for guests upon arrival. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Overall, this was a very disappointing and disgusting experience, and I will not be staying here again. The size of the rooms and available amenities simply do not make up for the lack of cleanliness and care. I sincerely hope management takes these concerns seriously so future guests don't have the same experience.
