Dr Tyneway is the best vet ever. I love that she treats my 3 labs in a truly integrated way but this week she was by my side during a tumultuous situation . I was out of town on business when my 14 year old lab became ill. My pet sitter rushed him to doggy hospital. I spoke to the emergency room Dr who told me he had pneumonia and had a modular in his lung. She recommended I fly home immediately and I should put my dog down. On the same day I traveled west I jumped on a red eye crying the entire flight. I called Dr Tyneway from LAX and she immediately got on phone with hospital . She told me go see him in hospital but she thought I should give it more time. She followed up with Drs each day. Well 3 days later his pneumonia is well enough I can bring him home while we figure out how to move forward or not determining if it's cancer. Last year, our 15 year-old German Shepherd, Zoey, fell while we were out walking. A trip to the ER for X-rays revealed spinal arthritis, and the fall had knocked her pelvis out of alignment. She was miserable; could barely walk without jack-knifing or falling over. Her future became uncertain as we frantically looked into answers, care, and maybe even a dog wheelchair. My dog Bella has dealt with horrible itching allergies for many many years. We tried many different meds from other vets that seemed to just make her gain weight and only work for a day or two. It was not until I had Dr Kelly Watrobski examine her and recommend a once a month shot that Bella FINALLY found relief. My family was totally amazed! Something our poor pup has dealt with for at least 5 years was gone pretty much the day after her first injection. It was recommended by Dr Kelly that she receive them once a month or as needed which has worked and over the past year she has needed less and less injections. Dr Kelly is amazing. I can't comment on the veterinary care here, because I didn't actually get that far. But I can comment on their customer service. I walked in wanting some more information, and to have a chat with the vet before I brought my dog in. My dog has severe back pain and doesn't travel well. Being a vet student myself, I wanted to speak with the vet about my dog's specific condition and if she has successfully treated it with alternative holistic methods before. I wanted to get this chat out of the way before I brought my dog in, perhaps unnecessarily, since traveling is so difficult for him. I relayed all this information to the front desk, and said that the vet could call me at her convenience. The only answer I got from the girl at the front desk was "you need to make an appointment and bring your dog in." I attempted to repeatedly explain that travel with him is very painful and difficult and wanted to make sure that a trip in wouldn't be for nothing, and asked if the vet could give me a call. She replied with "the vet won't just call random people who aren't clients." Well I really wanted to be a client, but definitely not anymore. I love the idea of a holistic vet, but you guys need to up your customer service, especially when it's in the best interest of the animal. read more

It breaks my heart to read such nasty reviews about Dr Tyneway and her staff. Because of Dr Tyneway and her staff my FCR, Turner is alive and doing brilliantly. They found a small lump on her inside thigh. I didn't think anything of it. Dr Tyneway suggested testing it; ofcourse I agreed but never gave it another thought. Dr Tyneway called me two days later telling me that my beloved Turner had a cancerous tumor in the leg; that we needed to see an oncologist immediately and that it was possible her leg might need to be amputated. My world crashed around me. I have done everything dr Tyneway suggested. It turned out that amputation wasn't an option because it had grown so fast. Now just over a month later; she has had one chemo treatment and the rest has been holistic supplements and she is fine. Her tumor has gone and Turner is herself again. I have never felt ripped off or treated rudely even when I have been upset. read more

I want to commend Dr. Tyneway.,Dr . Bailey and Dr. Lane for the amazing work they have done with my 171/2 year old labmix Bosco in acupuncture, massage, lazer, and water therapy. A few years ago, my dog Bosco may have overdone it with his walks around the block and had pretty well collapsed. At age 16, I was sure he was done in with bad arthritis etc. couldn't stand up. I made an appt. with the regular vet to have him put to sleep. He had been receiving Dermax and Tramodol for pain and muscle problems from the vet. My dad who was a retired doctor said to give him a day and he probably would recover. THe next day he was right and I still brought him to the vet who asked me if I wanted to put him down. I said"no," as he was doing better. The next day I went to the airport to pick up a relative and saw a beautiful dog there. After complimenting him the owner said the dog was 14 and getting acupuncture and it had enabled him to walk again.. So I went to the vet and the vet tech at my vet recomended Dr. Tyneway out of 6 acupuncture business cards they had. She said a client was super happy with her. So I went there and after a number of treatments Bosco was walking better, was happier etc. Dr. Tyneway's vet techs are amazing. They are loving and caring and it is clear they don't work there for just the money. Dr. Bailey and Dr. Lane are loving too. They don't rush you. Her k-9 Clinic in Agoura is also a great place for water therapy, exercise and treatment . A huge place with alot of space. I like the fact that there are Saturdays and 2 later nights during the week for working people to take the dogs. Tuesday night at K-9 and Wednesday night at Holistic. Not like some clinics who don''t do later hours. I thank Dr. Tyneway, Bailey, and Lane for giving Bosco more years in life than he would have had, had I put him down. It is like Assisted LIving and Doggie Rehab. It is clear that the other dogs are improving too and they love it there. People that complain about the price should understand that it is worth it to give the dog a better quality of life. You don't go to Vet School or Acupuncture Training to get paid 10 bucks for a visit.Save your movie money, junk food money, or shopping money and instead of buying some clothes or eating out a few times get acupuncture. We love Dr. Tyneway and Dr. Lane. We brought our 8 month old husky shepherd mix to them after he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. Another vet had put our dog on a steroid anti-inflammatory and he was having lots of side effects (eventually this medication would cause his health to disintegrate because it's not meant for long term) and worst of all, he wasn't able to walk at all. Dr. Lane prescribed the perfect schedule of supplements and an injection and by this miracle, he started to walk again. We are so grateful that our pup had been able to have his life back. Customer service is wonderful! We come here once a week to have them administer his injection and even our dog loves coming here (despite the fact he has to get a shot every time). They also have us a referral for a surgeon that I've heard really great things about from folks in the area. I've taken my dog to the Holistic Vet Center a number of times, each time my expectations have been exceeded. Dr. Tyneway really takes the time to sit down and talk with you. Obviously I'm a huge fan of the holistic approach to medicine and am willing to pay a little extra to know my dog is getting excellent care. They are careful not to over-vaccinate and took the time to talk with me about the huge risk factors that come as a result of over-vaccination. They place a large emphasis on diet (and rightfully so) and I even learned from the Dr.'s exam that my dog has tight hips which could one day lead to major hip problems. She taught me stretches to do with my dog on a daily basis as a preventative measure. This has definitely become my regular vet, I trust them, and think they are great. read more

I am writing to share my experience with this vet. I scheduled a chiropractic visit with Dr. MacKinnon, a Dr whom I really like, and has performed an adjustment on my dog prior for $75. When I received my bill for my dog's scheduled Chiropractic visit, there was an additional service on my bill which I did not request for $85, it was a 30 min physical therapy session. I was not notified that this was a requirement to receive an adjustment, in fact my dog has had 2 prior adjustments at this vet without this additional service. When questioned about it they said they apologize for their communication, but ultimately would not reverse the charge, because they did what they thought was best for my pet, and what I felt was unnecessary just to charge me more, especially given that my dog has had adjustments at this vet before without this extra service. I feel it is important for customers to know that this vet will take liberties to do additional non requested services to your pet without notification and then charge you for them. It is simply not right, as a pet owner you need to be notified prior to anything other than what is requested be done to your pet. read more

The best vets and staff. I have been using this clinic for 5 years. They are the nicest, friendliest staff I've ever met and I have met many, having had pets for more years than I care to state! Dr. Tyneway is, without a doubt, the finest veterinarian, in both traditional and holistic veterinary medicine. She not only sits on the floor with her patients but diagnostically she is brilliant. Her compassion for pets and their family is incomparable. Finding excellent holistic care is difficult at best, but to have someone like this in my own area, someone familiar with all modalities, is just a miracle. I will start by saying the people who work in this office are mostly kind and compassionate. However, when they get backed up or their equipment isn't working right, they have a "policy" that they stick to without exception. Dr Tyneway, the owner, clearly cares more about money than the relationships which has been built with her customers. I have even had Dr. Tyneway scold ME because her technician wasn't doing something in the order she wanted it to be done - as if I had anything to do with it! Maggie, our 7 year old German Shepherd recently began exhibiting signs of discomfort from arthritis and hip dysplaysia. She would limp after taking a walk and would often get up stiffly after lying down on a hard surface such as a tile or wood floor. We were referred to Dr Tyneway by a friend, she suggested we look into acupuncture to help Maggie's condition. We began treatments that included both acupuncture as well as laser treatments and injections of Adequan. The results were almost instantaneous as within days Maggie not only had stopped limping but her entire demeanor changed. She was visibly happier, she was always affectionate, but now she was extremely more so. We cannot express our happiness enough at these changes in our sweet Maggie. Her well being and quality of life are very important to us and seeing her like this has made our hearts sing. I am eternally thankful to Dr. Tyneway and her staff for caring for my 14 3/4 yr old Husky mix Aussie and giving him quality of life back. When I took him in for the first time several months ago, he could barely walk and had to be lifted in and out of the car, and within three weeks of acupuncture & laser treatments was walking & trotting again, and within 4-5 weeks, able to jump up into the car and climb the stairs at home again. You really know that the staff and Dr. Tyneway care about their patients and understand that these beautiful creatures are our family. If I could give a higher level of recommendation, I would. In all fairness, I feel I must update this review. I wrote this soon after my cat had passed away and I was very upset. I subsequently obtained and reviewed all of my records from Holistic. I stand by that Dr. Tyneway is overpriced and a rip off. I stand by that she sells unnecessary things to make money. I stand by her crappy bedside manner. But truly, I am not sure that she made the wrong medical calls after I have reviewed the records. She prescribed the same medication that the subsequent vet did but the records reflect (and accurately so) that I did not pick it up. I think at that point I just didn't trust Dr. Tyneway. But still, the fact remains that she did prescribe the correct treatment. I just didn't follow through. The bottom line is I still would not go there again. But upon further reflection and investigation I think my first review was unfairly harsh and not totally accurate. read more

I believe Dr. Tyneway is knowledgeable. On the other hand, they are more concerned about gouging people for money than helping the pets. I am not talking about above average prices for services, I'm talking about adding on unnecessary tests and exams to jack up the bill and REQUIRING those exams in order to treat the pet. This is gouging plain and simple. I have taken my dogs for teeth cleaning to this clinic each year for a few years. Because it had been a year and 1 week since my last visit, they said I had to pay for another exam. I asked them to show me what law or insurance underwriter requirement mandated this - they couldn't produce anything. I absolutely love this place, our family has taken two of our dogs here, the first one received acupuncture. The second one is for my two year old dog, Chello who was diagnosed last May with chronic kidney failure. We began treatment at another location and she was given three weeks to live. Happy to say Chello is still alive and licking.. The techs are very helpful and very knowledgeable, they are good with the animals. Through a very informative first session we were able to determine that eliminating "normal" dog food would most likely help and it did. Throughout the last few months we have added different herbs and supplements depending on Chellos lab values. I appreciate this, which allows her treatment to continuously up to date. I learned how to make fresh food for Chello and we have established changes which have only helped. She's gained 7 months in the last two months and anyone who has a dog with kidney failure knows that this is the best possible outcome. I definitely recommend this place, and travel the 45 minutes and believe it's totally worth the treatment. read more

i marked one star because they did actually answer the phone and took the time to quote me an abundance of prices from their obscene price menu! this place is a sincere money grab! i explained in detail to the curt receptionist ( really spot on first impression for this place ), my dog had just been to our orthopedic vet and thoroughly checked out. because she is athletic, i just wanted chiropractic for her. $75, i thought ok. but in order to get the chiro treatment, it was "mandatory" that i also pay the $150 for an "evaluation" even though i had our recent vet visit records. it's not just the money, it's the way it was presented to a potential new client, which it appears they don't really strive to impress. if i handled my business or new clients in this fashion, i would not be able to afford vet treatments for my awesome dog! shame on them and the total disgregard for manner and the total regard for $$$! look around as i did and you will find some really qualified hollistic and chiro vets in the area that appreciate your business! read more

I just wish I could go to them instead of my own doctor!! I have known Dody for over 8 years & have complete & total faith in her. Dr. Tyneway (I hate referring to her as a doctor) is horrible in my experience. My little dog is now blind from cataracts. I didn't know anything about them or how quickly they can progress. I just found out that she could have prescribed some natural eye drops that would have kept them from getting worse. She commented on the cataracts, but never mentioned drops or that she'll go blind, or the other problems it causes. Also, I brought her in because she fell off a step. "Dr." Tyneway "adjusted" her. It was fast and brutal. It did not help at all. If anything, my dog seemed in more pain later. She also did an acupuncture treatment. Mind you, she used about 6 needles on this five pound dog. The charge was a whopping NINETY dollars just for the acupuncture. I went back to AZ where I stay. I went to my doggy chiropractor there. He gave her a proper adjustment and she ran around, obviously relieved, and was like a new doggy. At times when I've been in her office waiting I've heard other people complain (as they left) that she way overcharges for her services.
