So I'm updating 3 years after my initial review. So the week before my wedding, the last night I could see my fiance I wanted to surprise him with a romantic dinner at home. I ordered from Holy, told them of my exciting night to come and how important it was to be perfect. Needless to say, it was horrible. The food arrived 1 1/2 hours after ordering, with multiple attempts to call on phone. And the icing was that the food was cold and soggy. How about the time my husband and I were on site and after waiting 30 minutes for our food, were accused of getting our sandwiches and eating them! I am so happy I finally found a good Schnitzel place on Staten Island! If you've ever been to any other Schnitzel type of place than you know what to expect. Holy Schnitzel does not disappoint. I got the Loco Schnitzel which is bread crumbs with chili flakes. It wasn't too spicy at all just added some needed flavor. My sister got the regular schnitzel and mine was a lot better. I load mine with all the yummy goodness which is the only way to go. Lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, sauteed onions, and garlic mayo. I got an order of cajun fries which me and my sister shared. First non-pizza stop on the Staten Island food tour. This place is a little gem tucked away in the corner of a strip mall. I ordered the holy toasty, onion rings, and coleslaw (yeah, I was famished). The schnitzel was excellent. The pastrami and breaded cutlet complemented each other really well and the house sauce is addictive. The bread itself was really crusty and chewy; a great texture to go along with all the stuffings of the sandwich. The onion rings were awesome as well. Crispy, but not too greasy. The service was really friendly and engaging as well. A couple of complaints about this place that keep me from giving it five stars are the prices (even though the portions are big, its still quite expensive), and the coleslaw (pretty mediocre). read more

This has been the hot spot for me and my co workers to get lunch during the pandemic. They have the best chicken sandwiches, and their sides and starters are so good as well. They deliver pretty fast and their portions are HUGE!! I often find myself only eating half of a sandwich and saving the rest for later. I got their fries and onion rings before and both can easily be split between two people. I never had a meal from here and left hungry. The only downside is that they do mess up orders sometimes. I will say when they have messed up and gave me something else I was still happy because whatever they gave me was also delicious. My boyfriend and I ordered from Holy, our first time eating it. We got chicken sliders and a pastrami sandwich. About an hour later my boyfriend was throwing up for about 20 minutes, then using the bathroom as well was I. I'm not sure if it was food poisoning or something that made our stomachs turn, but it was not a great experience. The pastrami was not the best the chicken sliders okay. I don't leave reviews, but I just can't understand a business that can screw up so many orders. I just had delivered an order. 1 thing in the order was a Falafel in a Pita. I got a Falafel in a pita, and nothing else, no salad, nothing except a few falafel balls in a pita. Never in any restaurant, food kart, etc.. is this a Falafel in a pita. In fact 2 weeks ago ordered one and it was correct. In the past when there was a mistake in the order, which occurs often, I call and sometimes they show with the right order and other times it takes HOURS if at all. If not for the fact they are the only Kosher game in Staten Island they would be and SHOULD be out of business. I will NEVER order from them again. We were here lunch and had the felafel wrap, avocado salad and Cajun fries. Everything was delicious and the portions were a good size. Some have said the prices were a little high, but the portions are pretty large and we could have split the sandwich and salad. Parking is a bit of a pain so if there is something on the street, take it. We will definitely return and try some of their other items. read more

I will never come to this place again. I am a pretty generous review giver and I am big on customer service, with that being said, I would have given this location 0 stars if I could. I originally left a 3 star review and was then contacted by someone who claimed to be the business owner providing me with a gift certificate to please give the location another chance. I figured why not, it was busy when I went and maybe would not be so busy the second time. Well when I arrived we were only the second customers there yet we were still not greeted by anyone and the person who claimed to be the owner later on simply walked right past us. Should of known then this was not going to be a good experience. We went up to the counter only to be asked by a young teenage boy who looked like he would rather be anyone else in the world, what do you want. We had to constantly stop in our order taking for him to pick up the phone, answer the cook, assist the other customers. This was a bit ridiculous since there were two other workers standing there and the apparent owner, who was now outside. We advised finally at the end of our order about the gift certificate. The boy went and got the apparent owner who came walking in yelling "nothing is taken on the phone". Ok, way to embarrass us in front of the other customers there. Simply walking up to the counter and saying a sorry we are unable to accept that quietly would have sufficed. I wish it stopped there. The apparent owner then came around the counter to tell us that it is not him and he would not take the gift certificate. When asked if they had a Yelp representative or something. He kept dodging the question and stating would not accept it. At this point even thought the owner was so rude, I was hungry and ready to pay for my food without the gift certificate. But no, they had to get even ruder. The exact words used were "why don't you contact the person yourself and have them bring the food to your house then". Really? Really?? Obviously someone tried to scam a customer of yours and this is how you act. I have worked in customer service my whole life and if any of my employees treated a customer like that they would have been fired. This location or should I say owner should learn a little something called empathy. I would have continued to be a customer even though may have been scammed had they handled the situation professionally. But now they lost not only me but my whole family as well. If you're the only game in town, you can afford to be sloppy. Other kosher places, this is your chance... I'm a kosher consumer working in Staten Island. Holy Schnitzel is the only place that offers easy ordering and delivery. When it works, which is about one time in three, it works great. The food can be quite good. But more often I wait around two hours for soggy sandwiches and deeply charred chicken. By the time lunch arrives my workmates are planning dinner and my food is cold and wet. The only thing warm is the soda. Don't bother calling the store, you'll be on hold until they just hang up. It's a crapshoot whether you even get what you order. The food may be great - or they may forget every single condiment, vegetable, fork, and napkin, and deliver a piece of dry chicken inside a stale bun with nothing to hide its age. They did remember the bag, so that was nice. This place is hit or miss for delivery. They do get a second star for their occasional hits. But their misses are very, very, far off target. I recommend the double decker burger although expect that the bun will be a moist paste when you get your order. If you have any other options open to you, take those instead. read more

Visiting family in Staten Island and we decided at the last minute to order from Holy Shnitzel for our family Chanukah party. Despite ordering for 20 people on short notice, we received EXCEPTIONAL customer service. The young man behind the counter (i asked for his name he said Yosef) was patient as we tried to decide what we wanted and offered helpful suggestions. Even though we changed our order a few times he did not get annoyed and was very nice. Really funny concepts going on with this deli/grill- it's like a kosher Subway with a modern funky color palette. You order at the counter and seat yourself at their cafeteria style tables. They carry American and Israeli fizzy drinks and it draws an interesting and diverse crowd. Cute place that looks like actually a frozen yogurt place considering all the bright color walls and furniture. The staff were friendly and nice enough to answer our questions about how long this place has been open and such. We tried just a regular schnitzel sandwich and it was huge. Prices on the high side. Their fresh made hummus is great. My Roasted Pepper panini had only three pieces of roasted pepper throughout, so that was a bit disappointing. The chicken was bouncy (i.e. rubbery, had to spit out more than two bitefuls) and honestly, I expected it to be on a good thin bread - not piled into a huge hero roll and then toasted on a press.
