This place sucks. buyer beware and seller as will. They will screw coming and going. I bought a couple of things from the store and also had some things place on consignment. I paid what they were asking for big mistake. Talk these people down in price for sure. I took two pieces back to the store in less then a couple to weeks and I was told that furniture had been used and couldn't ask the same price that I bought them for less then two weeks ago. She said "Will they are used now." I was floored. I was told that deliver was to cheap to city it is only 75 dollars an hour and the most it would end up costing was 150 dollars. Will it cost 500 bucks times two. one way 250 dollars. I think this one of the worse place I have ever done business with. read more

The home consignment center has moved to Corte Madera, not that I really want to give them any advertising. If you have things that you want to sell quickly just call them and for $75.00 they will pick up your items and then sell them for extremely low prices. You get 50% of the selling price. If it doesn't move in a couple weeks they will then lower the price even more at their own discretion. Oh and it takes at least a month to get your check. They also tack a 2% fee onto your bill for their credit . It's a scam, but better than a sock in the eye, or what ever that saying is. read more

I keep getting emails from Home Consignment Center asking me to review them on Yelp. So...Selection quality is excellent and often artful, due to the wealth in Marin. Turnover is rapid. Prices are variable and often unexplainable. Sometimes they are close to retail. Most of the time you will get a good deal, almost never a great deal. The people who price the merchandise make it up as they go along and are moody types. The sales staff is great. This is not the place to sell jewelry. They buy low, asserting that your jewelry is only worth its metal or gem value. read more

I have a love hate relationship with this place. It is convenient for me to bring items over to consign that I don't have time or space to sell and they have sold several items for me. However, they always lowball me on every item I bring in. They always come up with some lame excuse about why they are offering me a ridiculously low price and once they have an item they do absolutely nothing to clean up or repair it to make it more marketable. They are purely a volume store and want to price things as low as possible so that they can move it out as quickly as possible and take a commission. They do not care if they are taking advantage of you, they only think of their commission. They are a marginally better option than sticking your furniture out on the corner with a for sale sign on it. Craigslist is always better than using the Home Consignment Center. They of course, along with their lowball offer, will tell you how horrible Craigslist people are to deal with. Don't believe the hype. Bring something here only if you don't have room to store it. read more

I wouldn't give this store ONE star. Even though the Manager fully admitted the store's error, he refused to reimburse me the $90 it cost me in truck rental and labor to try to assemble a bed frame that was nowhere CLOSE to fitting the headboard/footboard they sold me. They didn't even HAVE the correct bed frame in the store! Although the manager knew I was very upset about his decision that, although it was their fault they would not take financial responsibility, he did nothing to diffuse the situation or make things right. The staff is very accommodating, polite, efficient, and enthusiastic. They are a pleasure to do business with.

This is a very interesting store. First of all, it is so crowded with furniture forget about even trying to bring in a wheelchair, stroller, or even a young child for that matter. Furniture is randomly scattered with no real organization by type. That aside, they have a nice selection of higher-end pieces. When I went in, there were a large amount of armoires and hutches. A lot of pieces were well priced. But a fair share were questionable (i.e. a few dining sets of chairs that didn't match the tables were really expensive and a fake leather piece marked real leather and priced as such). Only a few pieces were really unique or vintage. And of course the sales people are nothing to boast about. Not particularly helpful or knowledgeable. I overheard one sales clerk telling a customer how terrible the four owners are with their random policies (like only holding pieces $100 and up). Very unprofessional. I would definitely go again to scout for a good find, but won't expect much help. If you like vintage or antique, probably isn't the place for you. read more

I had a very different experience than many of the negative reviewers. I took in a table and chairs grouping and a glass, kidney-shaped table and felt like the $$$ they suggested was ok (if on the low end). Much better than selling on Craigslist and having to worry about criminals coming into my home for nefarious purposes. The sales associate that I worked with -- Cheryl -- was competent and pleasant. Can't ask for more than that. This is obviously a business that depends on fast turnover and sellers benefit from this, though it ends up disappointing some buyers. Four stars because there wasn't anything in the store that I was remotely interested in purchasing. I was surprised about that. read more

I consigned three pieces of jewelry. They all sold. The checks I received had no documentation that stated how much each item was sold for. The store also automatically reduced the agreed upon selling price by 20%. They also TOOK THE BUYER'S CREDIT CARD FEE OUT OF MY CHECK when the buyer's paid with their credit card! This fee should be paid by the business accepting the credit card, not by me. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau about this practice. read more

Great place to find furniture, jewelry, and geegaws.... it is also a great place to sell your furniture, jewelry., etc. The folks who work here are amazing and know their stuff. You may have to visit a few times before you find your perfect buy but it's worth the effort and the turn over is fast so it's fun to see what's new, read more

Great place to buy and sell high quality furniture and home furnishings. If your items sells, they will mail you a check. If it doesn't sell, you have the option of lowering the price, picking it up, or having HCC donate the item to charity. We've done mostly selling over the years and been very satisfied with the results. The staff is professional and pleasant to work with. Great spot to browse AND sell special home products and furnishings

Watch out for furniture that looks new, it is probably a cheap knockoff version of what you want. I bought a sofa thinking that it was in such good condtion for being used-- and then found out that it was a cheap piece of new crap that I paid waaay too much for. I've seen this in their San Jose store too. I thought consignment actually meant consignment but not here. read more
