I want to give them more stars because their food is delicious and cheap but their service is TERRIBLE. If you have 3 hours for breakfast, this is your spot. They typically have a wait on the weekend. The inside is small and the tables are close together. The person filling water glasses is the most attentive in the restaurant. You better have your order picked out when the waitress comes around the first time, she'll forget about you for at least 10 minutes if you don't. The wait for your food will be at least 45 mins. I'm pretty sure the staff waits at least 15 minutes to even give the ticket to the kitchen. When the food finally comes out, it will be delicious. Think, greasy spoon with less grease. We've went here on the weekend and during the week and have had the same service. It's important to note that my husband and I have been here at least 6 times, we've tried VERY hard to like this place but I can't in good conscious knowing go into a situation with terrible service. They are unapologetic about their terrible service as well. I guess they can be when there's not a lot of options in the area. Save yourself the grief and drive into the Highlands. read more

found this little gem by searching for a breakfast burrito while at the dog park, they popped up and it's been love ever since. I've only had the burrito (because once i found heaven why venture?) but my bf has gotten a few different items and walked away pleasantly full every time. We highly recommend!! read more

This cafe is one of the only restaurants in our area which is why we frequent often. The food is pretty good as long as you don't substitute anything out. It's not a big operation and because there is nowhere else to go to breakfast they move quickly. This has been an issue for me in the past but after I stopped substituting ingredients my food always came out quickly and was always yummy. If you want a quick bite this is the place for you. I can't say enough good things about this cute little cafe. It is first probably one of the only breakfast places in this area and we are SO LUCKY that it is a good one. My wife and I just moved to the area, and welcome this place as a good local breakfast. Nothing over the top, but nice people, good service with okay food. No matter how long the wait really is, they'll always tell you it's 15 minutes... we've never waited less than 30 minutes, even as a smaller party. I love supporting my local Arvada community... so we brought the family on a rainy Saturday morning. Walking in we felt invisible and I wish I could say that changed. Alas, we felt like the uninvited guests at a party. The staff all but ignored us-- no silverware, no water, no menus until we asked. When we finally did receive silverware it was placed shoddily in a pile and thrust at me for me to distribute around the table! We did see them respond pleasantly to the people they knew and the rest of us were left as the red-headed step kids. The food was good. I had the eggs bene and it was smoky and delicious. Daughter had toast with eggs and hubby enjoyed the corned beef hash. The food was well priced and came out quickly. The coffee was awful, not that I expect gourmet roast, but at least for a diner, the black brew should be an easy staple. The staff needs a Ramsay intervention. It's disappointing as I'd really like to go here again but it was just uncomfortable. Hubby and I pondered the tip, but we recognize this is how they make money so we opted for a review instead. Did they earn my 20%? Not even close, but they are supporting a family. It felt rather like a family business where everyone joins in out of obligation rather than passion. My family and I love this small, cozy, FRIENDLY place for breakfast! The green chili is great and this is the only place I've had chorizo that is NOT a greasy, oily mess. I'm amazed another person gave this place 5 stars. I wonder if she ate there. A coworker recommended it too, so we went there about a year ago. I love supporting local owners and businesses, but the food at this place was so atrocious that it can't be justified or salvaged by having a local owner. That local owner, frankly, should be ashamed to put out such terrible food! Our waitress was very outgoing and friendly. It's not her fault the food that she served was awful. I ordered a breakfast burrito and my husband ordered pancakes and eggs. The green chili on my burrito was cool and bland. The burrito was equally bland. I tried some of the gravy and it was completely bland- no flavor or meat in it. My husband's pancakes were not cooked all the way through, and his eggs were rubbery. Portion sizes were small for the price. The decor is cool, with a lot of local artifacts and historical photos. The owners were lingering around at the diner counter. It's really too bad that the food is disgusting, or we would definitely go back. I would go to the Ralston Road Cafe, Chubby's, George's, or Santiago's instead. And as you can see from my history, I don't give out one star to just anybody.... it has to be earned! And Home Cookin' Cafe has the dubious distinction of earning that one star. We tried again about a month ago and was surprised with super friendly staff with a go-out-of-their-way attitude to help. Stumbled upon this gem on Mother's Day. The food was as their name suggests & their welcoming nature was evident by all of the servers most especially ours named Terri. I was greeted immediately and sat quickly -- within minutes I could tell everyone else in the restaurant knew each other, which sometimes is a blessing and a curse. ;) For this restaurant it was just a fact - I was treated with just as much attention as folks I could tell come EVERY Saturday morning. SushiAji and RibCity were both nearby but we decided to try this diner-like breakfast place and we were pleasantly surprised! We had the stacker which is chopped up chicken fried steak on top of hashbrowns, and then the salmon benedict. I asked for a side of green chile after reading the reviews that it was delicious, and extra tomato and sliced onion for the benedict. They split our plates for us and our drinks were always full. We had a great experience here and will for sure go back, even though it is not that close to home. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Someone had kids that were kind of annoying, but that was really the only thing that I did not like. The service and food were awesome.
