He frequently brought up politics, demographics, and "statistics" at work in ways that felt inappropriate and often came across as biased. It wasn't the kind of environment I expected from a workplace. I personally chose not to engage with these conversations because I was there to work, and I try to keep my personal beliefs separate from my workplace. However, being repeatedly exposed to these types of comments from management made the environment feel unprofessional. I also noticed that he would tell us certain employees had quit, but after speaking with those employees, I learned that was not always what happened. This made me feel like there was a lack of honesty and transparency in how situations were handled. One comment that really stuck with me was when he told me and another young female employee that we'd be prettier if we spoke more intelligently and that men would like us more. We are both very young girls, and that comment was incredibly inappropriate and made us uncomfortable. I was also told that if I came in early every day, I would receive a $1 raise. I did exactly that, and I received the raise on my final paycheck. Just a few days later, I was fired. It was confusing to be recognized with a raise and then immediately let go without being given a meaningful explanation. I was told I was being fired because I supposedly had an attitude with a customer. When I asked what had happened, I wasn't given a clear explanation and was simply told they had decided not to continue my employment. I work hard, take my jobs seriously, and I rarely leave negative reviews because I know everyone is trying their best. I didn't contact them afterward because I felt I had already been treated disrespectfully. After the way I was spoken to and the lack of honest communication, I didn't feel another conversation would have changed anything. As a customer, I also found the food to be average, especially for the price. Before I even worked here, my mom and I had cheesecake from the café on a few different occasions, and every time it had a noticeable freezer-burn taste. For the prices they charge, I expected much better quality. Based on my experience as both an employee and a customer, I would encourage people to support another family-owned café instead.

While the guy cooked my food I started grabbing some bread to take home. The first one I grabbed was soft but then I went to grab a different kind and it hard as a rock. I checked every bread I was going to grab and they where hard. This bread is not fresh and not even a day old. This bread has to have a couple days since it has been sitting. I had grabbed a couple breads so I had to purchase them as soon as I got out the place I threw them out. I get to work to eat my lunch and the torta has a weird smell so I opened it up and it was rotten onion and tomato with dark brown aguacate. Then the ham or whatever it is had a layer of grease. I didn't eat it. I wasted close to 30 bucks for this horrible food. I don't recommend buying anything here. The place was super clean and had a bunch of employees but how are you going to be serving this rotten food and hard bread. Whoever owns this place has to see what's going on here because maybe your going to loose customers and if you are happy with what your selling it's super sad and this business ain't for you.

This small little donut shop puts Dunkin, Krispy Kreme, and every other big donut brand to shame. All the donuts are made fresh, and you know that because there is a glass window looking into the kitchen where you can watch every step. Prices are spectacular. They discount boxes of day-olds, but the day-olds taste better than a box of "fresh" Dunkin' Donuts. The place looks a little older, but it really adds to the charm of everything. I could almost see it being on some sitcom as one of the regular places the characters go to eat. But that's just me rambling. Oh, the donuts! The donuts are like having an orgasm while Brad Pitt proposes to you in a pool of $100 bills on a clear, sunny, 75-degree day. I would recommend the Taffy Apple, Blueberry Cake, and Buttermilk. I really wish this place would branch out into more than two locations...it is way too good for Joliet. read more

Hello, If you know Home Cut Donuts there is no need to read any further. If you do not please pay ATTENTION! I have not had a donut in weeks. I have been feeling very ill and not able to eat much. My son kindly asked if I thought a simple jelly donut would help? I said I could try. Oh My Goodness, or Home Cut Goodness! So soft and light with the perfect amount of jelly. Donuts are great. Service sucks,you have to watch what you're handed. I asked for 1 dozen all filled and I got a dozen filled but not one topping on any donuts all plain C'mon man. Really! Second time I asked for 1 half dozen filled, with different toppings...got 3 filled chocolate and 3 vanilla with frosting. WTF! We love Home Cut Donuts! Great donuts, perfect coffee, and for a real treat get an apple fritter. During the autumn, we'll walk two miles on a Sunday morning to grab a Home Cut donut and coffee. I would recommend Home Cut to anyone. As a bonus, the shop is a throwback to a different era. A glass window near the registers lets you get a look at the guys making the donuts and other treats. The coffee counter is great if you want to sit and stay a bit. read more

Okay so I live literally one block from Home Cut Donuts and I do love the donuts there! I know some people that have worked there and that currently work there! So to me the service is great and I have lived in Joliet my whole life. When the son took over the business, he drove out, from insulting them, or fired, the loyal employees who had been there for years just so he could hire in 12 yr olds who work for less money. Probably some of the best donuts I have ever eaten anywhere period. An unassuming little place that dates back to a '70's style coffee and donut shop I remember as a kid. Fresh, flavorful and not overly sweet. Perfection as far as I am concerned. Simple straight ahead flavors served up fresh and delicious. Recommend to everyone. read more

I love love LOVE coming here. If you go between 1-3am you can get fresh glazed donuts, right from the fryer. They are open 24 hours but this is when they make they're doughnuts the freshest! They are warm and literally dripping with glaze. The best by far! read more
