My wife and I stopped in for a return visit for take out. It's a little hole in the wall type place. I need to watch your food being made. We were greeted by a friendly guy who took our order. We got the cheeseburger with truffle fries and bacon, blue burger, bacon blue cheeseburger with Dutch fries. The Dutch fries have their garlic, lemon, aïoli and curry, ketchup with scallions and doesn't sound like it should go together, but it definitely goes together and well. My first visit to home frite was last year. Had their truffle fries and a frozen margarita. Fries are delicious and the drink was tasty. Visited recently to try their burger. My son and I ordered the truffle burger, via Postmates. They have a Bogo deal. We both agree, it was the worst smash burger We've ever had. The lettuce is spring mix, which we didn't feel paired well, the patty is so bland (his burger was raw) yuck and the the truffle sauce was mushy and not good. I also had a side of fries, which again are tasty. He had a milkshake, which was also not good, half of it was whip cream. Staff was pleasant and the place seemed clean. What sounded like a human answered and tried to find the order and said I did not have an order wasted a few minutes in a phone system before realizing AI bot and had to ask it if it was human. The WAIT TIME at the window! I'm only giving it 2 stars based on customer service at night. Also, it's Saturday so I could be really just in my feelings, but I love this fucking place. The fries are my absolute favorite on the block. So I decided to drop by after a store run, so my hands are full of shit. I'm waiting at the window for like 10 minutes. I mean I get that they are busy, but it would have been nice if the person at the window opened it and asked us politely to wait or just to acknowledge me standing there. We ordered the chicken sandwiches and truffle fries, and a few sodas. We biked over to a nearby park to enjoy them on a bench. Burger was great, not a greesy overload that I sometimes love but nonetheless, juicy patty, nice bitter peppery spice with the arugula, egg and bacon made a good saltiness, and lemon garlic aioli, light sauce. I visited Home Frite about two years ago while driving nearby in need of some food. Now I will briefly tell a funny story... Okay, so I bookmarked another restaurant called Pommes Frites located in Lower Manhattan and a very well known place for Belgian fries. I have been wanting to visit Pommes Frites for a while since hearing about it so long story short I thought Home Frite in Brooklyn was just a closer location,but the same restaurant. Before you all laugh at me, I found out eventually when I asked for their menu which included more than just fries and I compared the names. Now, for the food at Home Frite. I decided to order a crispy chicken sandwich with a side of frites aka fries. I must say it was just okay but would have probably been better if I had eaten it fresh. The sandwich was a bit salty, but the brioche bun was buttered and toasted. The fries were soggy so I cannot really comment much because I did not eat many of them.
