Decent selection, definetely slightly nicer options than other locations, probably because its in Encinitas. Large store!

There's a very long line to pay and there's only 2 cashiers- both slow to process. I left and went somewhere else. Ridiculous!!

Normally everyone is so nice. I'm a frequent shopper at homegoods. Ive probably spent between 6-10k in the last 5 months decorating my new home.. Each time I check out (SD,OC,IE) at homegoods (yes I've been to all in those counties) they always say hello or hi, just friendly. Tonight my husband & I stood in line patiently waiting like we always do. Dawn looked over at us waiting and then once done with her customer she put a lamp on the shelf, looked again and then just stood there over by the other register talking and cracking her knuckles. A min later the lady probably a leader, saw us and told her we were in line. So she walked to her register and pressed the "register 3 please" button. We walked up and she proceeded to not greet us or say anything just said "yeah she's going to be coming back for it etc" so she would not need to talk to us? Rang up stuff, didn't even wrap my breakable gold plates and asked if I wanted to put them in my hamper I got. I said, you can sure. She didn't say bye, thanks, nothing so we just stood there and I said can I have my receipt please she said oh I didn't even know it printed. Look, not everyone will look like you do, but when you work in customer service, you are supposed to treat every soul the same. Please be kind, one day someone that looks like us will Be the ones saving your life. Whom ever told her to help is tonight, Thank you. read more

Love homegoods. Lots of cool stuff. Great selection. A little suggestion would be to hang a divider between the windchimes. I spent 20 min de-entangling a windchime my mom in law wanted to purchase for me in the store itself. Amazing prices on everything! I thought I got bargains at Target, but recently purchased items were $9 cheaper here for the exact same name brand item. Sales staff couldn't be nicer and willing to assist. Yes, it is overstuffed with items and most have to be moved to get to what I wanted but I easily survived (staff jumped in help when nearby). Checkout is very efficient & the, sometimes, long lines move quickly. I do dislike the parking lot, always waiting to be hit due to the tight spaces and angles. read more

Perfect place to find gifts, especially hostess gifts. I come here to find olive oils, condiments, unique pasta... etc etc. An advice is if you see something you like buy it that day- because it will be fast gone. Keep an eye on your shopping cart since I've had things taken out of it- crazy! Don't forget to cruise down the clearance aisle- where even more fun deals can be found! This was the first Home Goods we shopped over 15 years ago. It is conveniently located on North El Camino Real ... the anchor store in a medium-size strip mall. While we are fans of Home Goods in general, this store has its shortcomings. It is one of the smaller Home Goods with narrow aisles -- e.g., in housewares, two carts cannot pass in an aisle. They have one-way markings on most aisles, but customers ignore than more often than not, and customers are impatient, not observing 6' distancing. The selection of things like table linens and coverings has shrunk considerably. Shelves in many aisles are stuffed to overflowing, making it difficult to remove an item without dumping other items on the floor. My favorite section is always the gourmet foods where there are many good buys on interesting items. Staff is friendly and helpful. Check out runs smoothly. Parking is ok. read more

Can't believe it's been 11 years since I last reviewed this place so I thought an updated review was due. I wouldn't call myself a frequent shopper at Home Goods but my husband often jokes and says he knows when there's a season change because he'll see frequent and regular charges at Home Goods on our credit card bills. I had to laugh at that statement because he speaks the truth. I joke back and say, we have seasons here in San Diego? I tend to decorate for the season, holiday or occasion and I don't like to put the same things out year-after-year so Home Goods is perfect for someone like me who seeks regular decor changes. Since things tend to change out regularly, I like to check Home Goods first for small odds and ends because I know I can do it tastefully but inexpensively. In addition to summer approaching, I was recently keeping an eye out for any western themed stuff they had in stock for my daughters cowgirl themed birthday party. I was hoping to find a large wagon wheel (you laugh but stranger items have been found here) to use in the photo booth but sadly, nothing of the sort was ever discovered. At least this time. However, I was able to acquire a ton of rustic wood serving items which worked beautifully for the party. Plus, it's something I'd likely use again. I also found a dozen or so of thin throws made in Portugal that I used to cover the hay bales so we could sit on them. Amazingly, the colors matched our pink and teal cowgirl theme perfectly. They were labeled as beach blankets but they were more like throws. I hadn't planned on it but I ended up giving some away to the guests as gifts because they really seemed to love them. I bought so many so I plan to use the remaining for when we're sitting around the fire pit and just want a little coverage on those extra cool nights. Bottom line, Home Goods continues to be a great resource to find niche items that you wouldn't find elsewhere. And likely well priced too. Most things are thrown haphazardly on shelves so check items throughly for chips, frays or missing pieces before you check out. read more

5 stars for the employee Hudson! It was my first time in Home Goods, but everyone there was so nice. Hudson had also been running rugs back and forth throughout the store-- we had bought one today as well. He is very nice and personable. We even overheard his conversations with other customers he helped, he is a very kind worker! He definitely sold us on the rug we got and went as far as bringing the rug to the register so we didn't have to roll it around the store, and he brought it to our car! Who doesn't love Home Goods!? I frequent their stores often as my wife loves to add an item or two to our home's decor. At times, it takes a while walking down each aisle and deciding if we really need a thing or two. This particular location is clean and spacious. The layout of the store allows you to get in and out of it easily as there is no clutter to slow you down. The associates are friendly and welcoming and always checking in on people to see if help is needed. Parking was easy. This time around, we didn't find what we were looking for - which was furniture for our new nursery. I'm sure we will find something at the other stores. read more

Apparently you are not allowed to switch out the tops of lamps in this store. Despite the fact that most are missing the tops was scolded today by a manager when trying to find tops to match two lamps I was going to purchase. She said that the tops and shades and lamps are sets and it is frustrating when pieces are swapped. When asked why there was no sign to state this she share the company won't let them (probably because the company understands customer satisfaction). So despite the fact that only one of my lamps had a topper and no one could even tell me if it truly belonged with the lamp, they could not find a matching one in the back. So.... The store lost out on a $100+ sale because the manager thought it more important to keep toppers together in an environment where that clearly was not happening. A bit turned off by my experience today at home goods. I bought a $100 gift card and the cashier asked if i want to donate 5 bux to a charity. I said no thanks. Then she asked me for at least just a dollar. I said no. This is totally inapropriate. I went out on a limb to get my mother a gift card for $100, and then I get harrassed to donate more money. Just because I'm white and have a credit card doesn't mean I'm rich. Home goods employees shouldn't be harrassing customers to donate money while shopping there. read more

I love Home Goods, TJMaxx, and Marshalls for all the goodies we love finding in a treasure box of pretty things when decorating our homes BUT nothing out shines the Home Goods in Encinitas on EL Camino Real. They have a store that is merchandised incredibly well, which makes shopping there a delightful even with your husband in tow! he actually enjoys this place! The parking is great, loading helpers are always on hand and the checkers are fast & friendly, they actually like their jobs!! I love coming here, they have tons of pillows, sheet sets, glass ware, kitchen utensils, dog coats & toys, a children's section, and an amazing bath dept. with so many different things you just have to go see for yourself!! Will never ever come back here. Bought a very poor quality bench. Asked if I could buy it, see if it would fit in my space, and return if not. Store associates said "sure, you have 30 days to return." No mention of needing a receipt. Paid 200 total. Come back a week later to return because the bench is crap and bends in the center when you sit on it. Could only return for store credit because I didn't get a receipt. Went home to find a receipt so I could get my money back. Come back again today to return. This time they decided that "because I don't have a receipt, and "the bench is damaged" they will have to take 10% off of the return price of the bench. Because there were "scratches under the bench and paint on the legs) what?! I've had this for two weeks, sat on it twice. It was literally in terrible condition when I bought it, like a lot of the things you tend to find at home goods. Absolutely terrible customer service and a complete nightmare to return anything and get your money back. Oh, but you don't get your money back, you get store credit so you HAVE to come back- and you won't get full store credit, some lady who has never even seen the original condition of the bench decides that it's damaged and won't give you a full refund. Absolutely infuriating. That "ten percent" they get back for the "damaged bench" with absolutely no conversation with me about what shape it was in when it was sold to me, means more to them than keeping a customer around. I hate to say it, but don't bring your men to Home Goods with you. I am not prejudiced, I love my men, but they just do not understand the magic of this store. I am just sayin' this because they will not like it. I come here to shop for tchotchkes, decorations, furnishings, candles, garden art and linens. You can get one of a kind items that intense character for about the same price as their generic counterparts - but you have to know your style and seek out treasures. I get many compliments for the fun mirrors, garden decorations and other items that I have collected over the years. The quantities are extremely limited and you rarely find multiple copies of the treasures. When you see it, snatch it up as it will be gone quickly. The buyer for this particular store has a unique and slightly obscure style that I love. Other Home Goods stores just don't stack up. You will have to spend time, sort through a lot of irrelevant items and even return items that just do not work when you get them home but finding that one of a kind piece is priceless. read more

My wife just returned from the Encinitas Home Goods furious and frustrated. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they have senior hours from 9 to 10. This being a Thursday she visited at 9 AM only to find that she was preceded into the store by at least six 30 somethings, without masks. Upon calling the store managements attention to it, they said there was nothing they could do. My wife called corporate headquarters of TJX, of whom we are a stockholder, They were unsure whether there was anything they could do about it. Costco checks your license to make sure you're a senior for their senior hours. It's bad enough that HomeGoods did not follow their own policy, but allowing the 30 somethings not to wear a mask was beyond the pale! Shame on them for endangering seniors! read more

Since moving to the area, I've been here several times. I love the ever changing goods throughout the store. There's something for every style/decor. Whether you're looking for kitchen goods, home decor, stuff for your pets, gifts or even food; they have it all! Customer service is great and they have a great return policy. My rating is mixed because-- well, over the last few years, my experiences have always been mixed. I agree with other reviewers that this place can be a treasure trove-- all kinds of home decor, kitchen items, gourmet foods, linens, kids toys, and funky knick-knacks. So I keep coming back- great for small gifts and finding that odd or end for your home. The one thing I dislike is the ever-constant disarray. I get it that it's hard to organize when you have a lot of random things sitting together on a shelf or counter. But it's always messy and I have to dig around to find what I need. I posted a few photos of how shelves often look like a hoard of small children came through and pulled everything apart. My other pet peeve is the lack of customer service. I can't remember a single time anyone has actually asked me if I needed help finding something. There generally aren't any salespeople out on the floor to ask questions or offer assistance. As an Interior Designer I appreciate the amazing selection and value pricing of Home Goods, especially for clients on a modest budget. The store is well organized, nicely styled, and the selection of merchandise is both classic and on trend. Where else can you get quality lamps under $100, large scale rugs under $400, and beautiful bed linens (often Pottery Barn and RH dupes!) that don't cost more than your actual bed?! Shopping on the weekend means longer lines but they really do move pretty quickly. You can get great bang for your bucks at Home Goods! read more

I've seen designers on House Hunters Renovation at Home Goods and I can understand why. They have a very eclectic mix of housewares, furniture, and linens (plus candy, coffee, and other impulse items). We re-did our master bath and picked up drawer organizers and two mirrors. Their mirror selection was amazing and reasonably priced (when compared to Lowes or Home Depot). I've both spring-form pans and resealable bottles for Kombucha (never made it, but I have the bottles!). The shelves are overflowing with items. You pull one thing off the shelf and 5 things fall on the ground. You'll leave with some good finds but it's not an enjoyable shopping experience when you're playing bumper carts with other customers. I find that Home Goods stores don't differ toooo much. And I don't frequent the various locations enough to be able to make too many distinctions between them ... I went to this location early on a Thursday afternoon. Everything seemed pretty neatly organized (in preparation for the weekend?) and I was happy to see they had a very nice selection of pots now, which tend to be somewhat seasonal. When we got in line behind about 10 people, it was a little disappointing that there was only one cashier working. But eventually a second and a third came on so it got better.
