Food - good. Service - interesting. Ambiance - decent. Friends and I went there on a recommendation and we were looking forward to it. Sadly, it didn't live up to the expectations. I got there an hour early and but my name on the list for 12:00p for a group of six. After five of us arrived, I let the host know five were here and one was exiting the highway almost here. After we all arrived, and I let the host know, they said it would be another 20ish minutes because they gave our table away due to the one being late. Late?!?!?! It was five minutes till 12:00. Once we finally got seated, our server was friendly but forgetful. He had to be new because he didn't know the menu. One of us ordered the monte cristo and he didn't know what that was. Another asked for carbonated water, he didn't know if they had that. It was just interesting. Once the food came, it was good, but not consistent. Those that got the potatoes, they were not all cooked the same. Some were over cooked and some under. It was just disappointing.
The place is nice when u walk in, host and waiter were great. Food was out quickly for a Sunday morning. Food tasted great
It was worth every single minute I waited to be seated. The atmosphere in here during the wait was so nice, and it was all thanks to the staff. They make the wait time enjoyable by talking, smiling, and kidding around. We all broke out laughing when an older couple in their nineties walked right past me and took my seat at the counter. It was the funniest thing. But I was still able to get a seat at the counter, and what a joy that was. I wished I knew the guy's name and the names of the gentlemen behind him delivering the food. They were the best group of people! I know you all are waiting on the food review! Well, I'll tell you that everything was perfectly made, thanks to a great staff! I hope this place never loses its charm, its friendliest staff, and the fluffiest of pancakes. I've never met a group of people who can make you feel so great and deliver the best breakfast.
Came back to Home Kitchen with a friend for brunch on a weekday. Definitely not busy as the weekends, so if you've got time to have something to eat and chill, Home Kitchen has all the vibes. My friend ordered the turkey club and I ordered a patty melt. Turkey club had generous portions to have brunch and dinner or share with another person. It was very tasty and had great flavor to it. TW: if you've don't like horseradish, don't order the patty melt. The horseradish on the patty melt was over powering that I couldn't taste the patty melt. Unfortunately, I had it sent back and management came back and redid my patty melt without the horseradish. Overall the patty melt was great (w/o the horseradish). Our server was pretty cool and he kept checking in on us to make sure we were enjoying the food. This was really appreciated. Plan on coming back again to try other items on the menu.
Home Kitchen is a great spot to grab breakfast, brunch, or lunch in the Round Rock area where everyone can find something on the menu they will enjoy and you'll receive great service for a reasonable price! FAST FACTS: * Parking - lot around the building with plenty of free parking * Reservations - not available but you can join the waitlist through their website * Online ordering - available on their website during their hours of operation * Closed on Mondays * Weekly specials (check their website or Facebook page) * Join the Home Kitchen VIP on their website and save 10% on your first online order SERVICE - All of the workers were pleasant and hard working! We arrived at 9:30 am on a Sunday morning and were seated right away. Our server took our order quickly, food came out fast, and workers were clearing tables as we finished with them. Coffee refills were offered throughout the meal. Great experience! PRICING - I think the pricing is reasonable considering the food quality and portion size. There are some uncharges for things like swapping out sides or ingredients but that's to be expected. BEST ITEMS: * Oreo white chocolate chip pancakes - fluffy and a great size... I definitely want to try other flavors they offer * Classic eggs Benedict - exactly what you expect... the poached eggs were runny, the Canadian bacon was tender but had a nice crisp on the outside, a good portion of hollandaise, and a perfectly toasted English muffin * Egg white burrito - I love this as a more health-conscious option... it comes with fruit as the side and the wrap is very filling because it's packed with egg whites and turkey for extra protein This was my second time visiting Home Kitchen (first time was for lunch) and I will definitely be back to try other items! I'd recommend it to others looking for a casual but tasty option for breakfast, brunch, or lunch with family or friends. They get crowded on the weekends but have lots of seating and the wait goes quickly.
First Visit: I decided to try this spot after several friends recommended it. Ambiance: Parking is limited, but since I visited on a Wednesday morning, it wasn't too difficult to find a space. Inside, the setup is clean and inviting, with tables arranged neatly and a small bar area that looks into the kitchen. Service: The experience started off a bit rocky. The "host" wasn't attentive and barely acknowledged me when I walked in. Even after seating me, there was little to no interaction until the waiter arrived about four minutes later--despite the restaurant not being busy. Once the server came over, things improved. He was friendly, answered my questions, and kept my water refilled without me having to ask. Food: I like trying something different when I go out for breakfast, and this dish definitely qualified. I ordered a scramble, expecting the potatoes, green peppers, and bacon to be mixed into the eggs. Instead, the eggs were placed on top like an omelet. Not what I expected, but still decent. Overall, the food was okay--nothing bad, just not standout. Overall: For me, the experience was just okay. I'd still suggest giving them a try, but it wasn't quite the hype my friends made it out to be.
Really cute restaurant with a great menu of Tex Mex and American breakfast offerings. Similar set up to a First Watch but their food menu was more unique and I appreciated that they had a variety of sweet pancakes and waffle options for brunch plus a good savory breakfast menu. The service could have used improvement, our first greeter at the table was a young waitress whose attitude gave "IDGAF" and was downright unpleasant while taking our coffee order. Thankfully they switched her out w a waiter who was much more professional and knowledgeable about the menu. We enjoyed our food when it was brought out. Overall it was a good experience, other than the less than pleasant interaction at the beginning. Would recommend if needing a good local place to stop w kids.
Food was average. The omelette was made like something I'd expected. Maybe I'm just picky. Too much cheese can be lot. But flavor was good. Coffee was good. Service was nice.
First timer here! Really enjoyed our visit here. Staff was super nice and helpful even though they were very busy. Decent sized place with plenty seating. We sat at the bar and got service right away. Bigger groups definitely had a longer wait. I chose the special and it was really good. I liked the chicken sausage. Would like crispier potatoes but that's a personal preference. The French toast was amazing. This one had cream cheese in it and it took it to another level. I'd definitely come back again sometime!
First time here. I ordered the classic eggs Benedict. It was good but would be great if eggs were poached soft vs medium. The home style potatoes are fantastic. Made the way they should be always made. Corned beef hash was exceptionally delicious. Perfection. The Monte Christo was good. Bennigan's still makes best. Bacon side is another grand slam of perfection. Great thick strips of perfectly cooked bacon. Definitely a great choice for breakfast. Parking is tight on a busy Saturday morning. Counter seating is great but they need a foot bar for added comfort. I definitely recommend Home Kitchen and will definitely return.

My husband and I ate lunch here after church about a month ago. It was good but not impressive enough to make me review it until a month later when I'm procrastinating at work. I ordered the JJ Sandwich, which was delicious. My potatoes looked promising, but ended up being mushy and a little bland. My husband enjoyed his omelet. The interior of the building was laughably stark. Modern, industrial buildings were a trend, but they jumped on this trend too late and took it too far. It doesn't make sense for the cozy atmosphere they're trying to convey. The whole place seemed to lack soul. It felt like a cookie-cutter business model, and I'm surprised someone would even open such a business when there's competition from restaurants that are truly trying to be something special.
This place gets busy but they seem to turn tables quickly. Our table was small, it was a two top but pretty narrow. I had a special skillet. The chicken was well seasoned and the eggs cooked per my request, but the potatoes can really make or break a "skillet". This skillet was based on a huge pile of red skinned potatoes and they just weren't crisp. In fact it seemed like they were just boiled potatoes. This was a let down. I also tried a side of corned beef hash. The corned beef I believe was canned corned beef, the potatoes were certainly better than the skillet but mainly because they had been better incorporated and cooked longer. My wife chose some gluten free pancakes and she said they were good. We are always appreciative of good gluten free options and this was part of the saving grace for the meal. Overall, the food was ok, but the price you pay for breakfast here just doesn't make it a good value. The place was packed though and it seems people are perfectly happy. Overall it seems they have quality ingredients but maybe the execution is a bit rushed?
I moved to the Austin area from Boston and one of the things I've missed from the northeast is great breakfast place. Not to mention, one that served breakfast all day. But as of two months ago, we have one! Home Kitchen just opened and it's AMAZING. There's so much right going on here to let's take it in pieces. The restaurant: It's beautiful and bright and spacious. While the place was packed when I went it... but it DIDN'T feel packed. The layout of the floor was executed perfectly and allowed patrons and staff to move easily. The Staff: Speaking of the staff, they're great! Warm and friendly and filled with recommendations on the menu. We were lucky enough to get the owners son, he was great! The Menu: Pictures are attached but they have everything from what you'd think of as breakfast staples AND some amazing new choices too! Now...the food: I got the pistachio, white chocolate chip pancakes with a side of eggs (over easy, perfect yolks) and bacon. Hands down, the best pancake I've ever eaten. I HOUSED that meal. I don't even realize I had until it was all gone. Not gonna lie, this is one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Their specials menu changes weekly. I will be back again and again to try the specials AND work through the ENTIRE menu because it all sounds and looks (I looked at EVERY plate as it passed). You have to go try them out. We stopped here after leaving Kalahari and before heading home and it did not disappoint. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent! Delicious breakfast and lunch restaurant alert! So happy to welcome Home Kitchen to the neighborhood. We had the Eggs Benedict with thick Canadian Bacon, Raspberry stuffed French Toast and the "Perfect Combo" which is the plate with eggs, bacon or sausage and pancakes or French toast. Home Kitchen is a cute breakfast/ brunch addition to Round Rock. The interior has a farmhouse feel to it. They're starting to become popular so, there was a wait. I don't believe they take reservations so, it's first come first served. I opted for the Apple Stuffed French Toast and Loaded Home Fries. The French toast was very filling and could've been split between two people (depending on how hungry you are). The loaded potatoes were by far my favorite. We found this place with a yelp and Google search. We discovered via our waiter Maxwell that it had only been open 6 weeks. Due to that it was very clean and new. Nothing really special about the decor, but it was pleasant. SHANA SAYS: THE GOOD Love the selection of french toasts available. Honestly, I also love the selections of sandwiches and omelettes. It's a truly ambitious menu! And having not one but TWO different kinds of croissant-based french toasts is quite creative! The plating and presentation of food (not just ours, but everyone around us, as well) was very impressive. This is obviously something they work at. The coffee was quite good, and they kept it coming. Cute atmosphere, and lots of seating. Lighting was also good for a cafe. I saw several publicly available electric outlets. Bathrooms (there are two) are single-occupancy and unisex. They are large, well-stocked, cute, and very clean. THE BAD Food taste was solid, but only just so. And with the attention to detail evident in presentation, it comes across as a secondary concern. I would suggest shifting the focus a touch from presentation to taste. Back to me. Though Shana nails it. The food looks great, Maxwell was fast, friendly, and answered not just our random questions but everyone's with patience. No TVs or distractions this is a place to talk or read while you eat. As for the food, it's not bad but also doesn't stand out. After waiting 40 minutes, we were seated for brunch. I'm not sure if they take reservations or not, but if they do, would recommend doing this on the weekend. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and it was pretty good. The home-fries (aka potatoes) were not good at all-- they lacked seasoning. I tried the croissant french toast and it was delicious. I would probably order that the next time. We did order a side of sausage with the french toast, but we didn't receive the sausage. Overall, would give this restaurant a 3.5, but due to not having half stars, I'm going with a 4. read more

Ok, second visit to "Home Kitchen", and I hit it at its peak on a Sunday. There were a few people outside waiting, so luckily I had called ahead and asked to be added to the wait list. Thomas as the front door was happy to accommodate us. After about a 30 min wait, we were called and seated. Our server Maxwell, was quite courteous as he introduced himself and took our drink order. I was feeling like lunch, but I was vacillating between several menu items. I asked what was the most popular sandwich ordered by their customers? He replied, the "Roast Beef", the "Chicken Salad", and the "Classic BLT). Since my wife and I were sharing as she couldn't decide either, we ordered the "Roast Beef" with the homemade potato salad as a side. We also ordered the "Chicken Salad", with sweet potato fries. Both were very good. Checking all the boxes on my "Fav List"...Good food, great service, excellent value. This is what you'll find at the Home Kitchen. So check it out for yourself. A brand new breakfast and brunch spot in Round Rock(A W Grimes Blvd). It kind of looks and feels similar to First Watch, except for cheaper menu prices. The staff are all welcoming, friendly and very attentive. They took advantage of every opportunity they had to ask if we were okay and if we found everything to our liking, from start to end. I ordered the PBSO (Potato, Bacon, Scallion, Omelette) with a side of home fries. Was a little puzzled that the entree which already comes with potatoes, would also come with home fries. Seems like a whole lot of potatoes(carbs). The potatoes and home fries did not have a whole lot of flavor, as I typically like my food to be flavorful. The omelette was slightly overcooked, and dry. The portion was good but the quality and taste was not quite there. It also comes with the toast of your choice. I couldn't tell if they added butter to the toast. Looks great in the picture but will not be ordering it again. The energy was very lively and lots of people quickly filled up the restaurant. I would love to give this place another try, and will likely order something very simple like pancakes and eggs, and see how they fare. read more

We had a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and beautifully prepared. The place itself looked very lovely and cozy, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I watched as the building was being erected. I initially thought it was a place to buy home and kitchen stuff! I love being able to support local, but can't find any reason to come here ever again. Cute aesthetic inside. Very loud. Not a comfortable space, ultimately. Yet another restaurant that buys the most uncomfortable chairs on the planet. They put cushions on the black metal ones, but that does nothing for the bars digging into you. Because of this, we asked for a booth at time of check-in. Waited 30 minutes and then called to a non-booth table. Staff was uncaring and unapologetic, stating we would not be able to get a booth seat. The unsweetened tea was cloudy looking and tasted like it might be from a powder. It left an odd texture and aftertaste. PBSC omelette was inedible as served. Like eating the world's most dry unseasoned baked potato. I had to drown it with hot sauce just to get it down. Ordered an English Muffin instead of toast and it came pre-buttered, which was unexpected and could prevent people from consuming based on preferences and dietary needs. Why not just provide butter at the table and give your patrons the choice? Benedict had completely black burnt English Muffin and over poached eggs. The hollandaise sauce was decent. The breakfast potatoes that came with every meal were completely bland. Both servings went uneaten across our two plates. Ordered a side of corn beef hash and found the texture strange, almost like finely ground raw beef. And it was super salty! With everything else being bland, the amount of salt in this was shocking. I think the waiter knew better than to ask how our meal was and just quickly cleared the not empty plates. $60 and 1.5 hours wasted. read more

Just learned about Home Kitchen as a friend and I were looking for a place to meet for breakfast on Sunday. It's located in a small business area, parking can be limited, next door to an arcade. The inside design is very sleek and beautifully built, does not give off a diner feel. I wanted plain buttermilk pancakes (no toppings) so the waitress recommended the perfect combo...the eggs were seasoned well, I asked for crispy bacon and it was too hard to chew, and the pancakes had no taste. My friend ordered the western omelette especially for the home fries the waitress recommended...the fries needed seasoning, the omelette was good (waitress recommended their homemade salsa verde), and toast was kinda burnt. Although my food was just ok, I will say I saw other tables' food and they ordered stuffed French toast and fancy pancakes that were very well plated, looked pretty, and customers were definitely cleaning their plates; I just don't like fancy pancakes, etc.; however, if you do I think you should stop by. As of now, they do not take online reservations so it is first come so make sure to allow for a possible wait especially on the weekend. read more

We were lucky to beat the rush at 9 AM on a Saturday as there was a line out the door as we were leaving. However, it does look like they have a decent amount of seating so the wait shouldn't be too long. For food, they have your standard offerings of a breakfast place--coffee, eggs, sandwiches, omelettes, benedicts, pancakes/french toast, and sides. When asked about daily specials our server shared they are posted on a chalk board, which is next to where the servers get drinks. Luckily I was able to try a bit of everything and based off this would suggest skipping the Specials and stick to their savory items... Cinnamon roll french toast stuffed with banana and chocolate chips-Presentation was pretty but this thing was small like smaller than a fist...I also wouldn't called this stuffed, it was more like a cinnamon roll sandwich with banana and strawberries as the filling and honestly think they forgot the chocolate chips. However there was a chocolate sauce which I liked but the other yellow sauce tasted a bit sour to me. Luckily the whipped cream was tasty as it would be too dry if eaten plain. I also ordered a side of bacon as Specials sadly didn't come with anything else. Pistachio Pancake-Another daily special item and again just a bit meh, but looks pretty in pics. Note, each pancake is your standard 6" pancake and you order and are charged per pancake...so order accordingly. Turkey Omelette-A pretty solid omelette but a bit lacking in flavor, and wished the onions were caramelized as stated. However, the home fries were seasoned and cooked well. Southwestern Eggs Benedict-This was your standard eggs benedict with the addition of bacon and avocado. It wasn't bad but might benefit from a different seasoning to make it live up to it's Southwestern name. Overall, I think the space was fairly inviting, but be prepared to be a bit cozy next to your neighbors. I also found the acoustics inside can make it a bit challenging to hear at times but funny story-- when asked what we would like with our coffee, we mentioned "oat milk" and our server asked if we wanted a cup or bowl. We all look confused and said um cup please. She then brought us the little coffee creamers and we again asked for the oat milk, but then she said only almond milk was available. That's when we realized she thought we meant oatMEAL. We eventually got some almond milk, but honestly service was slow and we had to follow up on our requests a few times and even still was given the incorrect thing. However, I realize they just opened so are probably still trying to find their rhythm but based on the food, service, and atmosphere I probably would give them some time to work things out before coming back. read more

I was able to check out this new brunch restaurant in Round Rock this past weekend. It's a very cute spot and in an area where they need more local restaurants like this. Our server was great and very attentive. I believe they are known for their sweeter breakfast dishes but I was in the mood for lunch so I didn't sample them. My sandwich was good - but not anything stellar. My friend also thought the same about her breakfast dish. I think their prices are a little on the higher end for what they are/serving sizes. I would however give this place another try though because they're new. read more

If any Tri-State area transplants find themselves in Round Rock in the morning, check out Home Kitchen. Got legit NJ style Bacon Egg & Cheese on Kaiser rolls with salt, pepper and ketchup. Or in a one word breath as we'd say, beggineggsncheese. The entire place is nice. Can make a morning out of it with the kids and visit the huge Play for Abilities playground down the road. read more

We discovered this new breakfast spot and had to give it a try. Great ambiance - the decor was bright, rustic and trendy. Our server Makayla was friendly and welcoming. We ordered the MBS (mushroom, bacon, Swiss) and the Western Omelette, both were tasty and as expected. The Egg White Breakfast Burrito was yummy but on the smaller side. We also ordered the Banana Walnut Pancake. Very pretty, but not as moist as I had hoped. Also, they only give you one pancake, which did the price point I would've expected at least a small stack.
