Great smoked King Salmon -- almost as good as mine. I'm taking the remaining of my 2025 Coho down for smoking as I believe it will taste great and last for some time. It's moist, flavorful, and not overly salty. Perfect for anyone who doesn't like a heavy smoke or a salt‑bomb of a salmon. Great for old people. Their smoked oysters are unbelievable. Absolutely top‑tie. Hopefully they took my Norwegian advice -- I'm still the best smoker around, but they're a close second. I'm cooking their bratwurst now, and they look fantastic. They've got a little kick, they're incredibly moist, and they plump up beautifully when cooked. So many brats lack proper fat infusion -- not these. They nailed it. Just the right amount. I haven't tried the Ribeye or Tenderloin yet, but I expect they'll be just as flavorful. Conclusion: This place is outstanding. At the very least, try their smoked King Salmon. It's wild, not farmed, and it's phenomenal. I highly recommend stopping by and trying their Oysters and/or Smoked Salmon. read more

Finally made the extra effort to get to this meat specialist shop!! I had my mind on some sausage, to cook on the Blackstone with some peppers and onions. I had read some great reviews from others who loved what Sweeney's had to offer. I picked up a package of German and a package of Beerbrats. It made a great dinner along with some toasted sourdough bread. While window shopping I purchased some bacon and summer sausage. If you are a carnivore then you should consider a trip to Sweeneys! What a great local meat shop! We stumbled across them searching for a good local place to get something to cook for dinner while staying in Port Orchard and they didn't disappoint. They do everything in house and the quality is exceptional. Plus the service is exceptional too, the lady helping us was awesome!! They are horrible. Processed a deer and charged me $600 for some ground meat and sausage along with their butcher fee. They have no clue how to butcher. Every package labeled backstrap was anything but backstrap. I doubt I even got my own meat back. Previous owners were wonderful. Don't waste your time with the folks running it now. read more

Barbara Sweeney is beyond rude. We have a major complaint about a pig they had processed and she completely dismissed our concerns and said nothing was wrong. Our bacon tastes spoiled and has a fish like smell and our sausage is better but still has somewhat of the same odd odor and taste. They asked us to bring it to them and they would cook it and taste it and they apparently noticed a problem and claimed it was freezer burnt which it is not because it started with the very first pack opened 2 days after we picked it up and as of now we have only had the order 4 months. I also know what freezer burn is and this is not it. Nothing else we got from them tastes this way. The pork chops, link sausages and Italian sausage is ok and has no issues. read more

Just got our first turkey from Sweeney's. Not only was the customer service wonderful but so was the fresh turkey. Exactly the size I wanted and super fresh. It cooked up so nicely and was the hit of the table. Can't wait for our Christmas prime rib from them next!! Oh and if you like bacon tried the slab bacon. Friendly staff. They seems to appreciate their customers. We were busy looking at new breed of apples, didn't realize we've been watched. My child got some candies and she was happy. Off the beaten path in Kitsap is a small marina. Next to it is a tiny convenience store and this butcher shop. After Costco stopped selling our favorite pepperoni, and in preparation for a family visit, I stopped by here to pick up some breakfast meats. Sweeney's has a lot of variety in it's selections. The display case had five different kinds of sausage. There were also pepperoni links in the side display case. I asked about having them sliced up for pizzas. Worth a try, I thought. They replied that they couldn't, so I purchased the sausage and bacon and went on my way. Or so I thought. As I was about to leave, one of the employees ran out to stop me, letting me know that they could slice up some pepperoni for me. Pleasantly surprised, I went back in, bought some and talked to the butcher, who talked about using this pepperoni on his own pizzas. Excited, I brought it home, and we checked it out. The bacon tasted great without too much fat on it. Sausage was delicious both by itself and as a sausage gravy. We used the sliced pepperoni in a regular pepperoni pizza. It wasn't bad, but the texture was different, and it wasn't as spicy as regular pepperoni. If these guys made their own dedicated pizza pepperoni, it would most likely turn out excellent. This place has excellent service and great breakfast meats. We'll be back for the jerky and more breakfast stuff. read more

A mixed bag. Mrs. Jeffd is a major carnivore so we have been searching for a local butcher since the local markets (with the exception of Central Market) where we could get freezer beef. We tried a sampler package that included some ground beef, strip steaks, a couple of rib eyes, cube steaks and some bacon and sausage. It was just ok. They take phone orders, there are package deals, they accommodate for the holidays and every cut is from a local, organic, animal that goes through natural smoking preserving process. I had their smoked salmon and thought it was good. They used to sell it at Larry's Markets several years ago. I was curious as to where they sell their products, I made several phone calls inquiring where they are selling their smoked salmon in the Seattle area, nobody could tell me because the owner wasn't there. Several more phone calls later someone finally told me of a market and I asked her the location of the said market. She didn't know the location and told me to google it. Super lousy customer service. Maybe the reason for Sweeneys not selling their products this side of the sound is obvious I've decided too take my business to Jensen's in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle , their products are carried in more locations than Sweeneys and was told by several people that their smoked salmon are really good. 1 Star for Sweeneys for lousy customer service. read more

Bought 3 half pound packages of Plain Jerky two weeks ago. First package I picked up a faint smell and taste of dish soap or fabric softener. I tried the second bag and could taste and smell it even stronger. The plastic inner wrapping they used smelled the same way. The third bad was perfectly fine. I called and spoke to the lady that had sold me the jerky she said bring back the bag, price tag,and what's left and we will make it right. When I brought back the packaging and what was left she said I cant smell anything and really didn't take much time doing so. Did not offer anything to make it right. Last time I go here. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE AND TO THE CLERK HAVE A NICE DAY! read more

I am not one to write a review but felt compelled to. I purchased a smoked chicken and some other products , had planned to use chicken for chicken salad sandwiches . Got it home and had son start pulling it apart he said it doesn't look right I checked it and the meat on the breasts bones was very pink and rubbery checked thigh against the bone it was also raw and it had very pink juices throughout it . I thought oh great there goes dinner. Went out that night , I called them they assured me it was done , my wife only eats chicken and fish I know when chicken is not done this was not done. Well saved it and took it back today and the young lady at the counter checked it she also said it was done and that I could have stuck it in the oven and cook it more . No I purchased a fully cooked chicken I shouldn't have to cook it . Well she wouldn't refund me or replace with a cooked one that is because I didn't have my receipt . That will happen when boss comes in on Monday or Tuesday . Needless to say they lost a longtime customer. read more
