Incredible experience at Home Town BBQ! I was excited to try a new BBQ spot with my fiance while visiting. We were greeted by the smell of smoked meat, which was incredible. We were seated on their covered patio, which had fans and was comfortable on a hot evening. Our server greeted us right away and gave us the run down of the menu and took our drink order. They had a lot of local beer offerings, which was awesome. We both tried local beers and started with the smoked wing appetizer with the dry rub. They were so tasty and the rub had the perfect mix of sweet and spice. Chef's kiss! For our entree, we split a two meat platter, which came with two sides. We got the smoked turkey, pulled pork, Mac and cheese and their hash and rice, a thick meat stew made from pork. Everything was incredible! We also loved trying the different sauces on the table. We ended the meal with their banana pudding, which was divine. Couldn't recommend Home Team BBQ more! read more

Solid lunch at Home Team BBQ. Sat outside which is always the move here, good casual vibe and quick service. Got a loaded salad with pulled pork on top and it honestly hit. Greens were fresh, nice mix of toppings like corn and tomatoes, and the pork was smoky without being too heavy. The toast underneath soaked up some of the juices which worked really well. Also grabbed a cup of their Brunswick stew which was super comforting, thick, and packed with flavor. Washed it down with a beer and everything came out fast. Food is outstanding. The white sauce is good on ANYTHING. We got some smoked wings and some tots but saw plate after plate of delicious looking dishes going out all around us. Had a great local sour beer that anyone would like. Ambiance is relaxed and clean and home town local feeling. Parking is tight but manageable. nice mind bending frozen drinks that will sneak up on you. Full bar, brew, and food choices for every appetite. Home Team BBQ is a frequent spot for us since it is so close. They have a small lot that gets filled up after 5pm and street parking can be tough, but you can find some spots further down the street. I've had a variety of their offerings, mostly things on their shared platters: - The buffalo chicken dip isn't bad, but not something I find myself really reaching for - The mac and cheese is actually so good! Very creamy, cheesy, savory, and good noodle texture - The coleslaw isn't too bad, on the sweeter side, like a poppyseed salad dressing - The potato salad is good and creamy - The ribs are easy to eat as they come off the bone pretty easily, definitely needs the additional BBQ/hot sauce on the table - I'm not a beans person but my friend loved their baked beans and couldn't get enough of it - I really enjoyed their cheddar jalapeno sausage - bursting with flavor and a kick of spice - The wings are good, especially with the alabama white sauce (like sweeter ranch) - I actually really enjoyed their turkey, especially with the red sauce - The banana pudding wasn't good - tasted like artificial store-bought banana pudding and just had a couple of cookies/banana slices. This is a good BBQ spot, very popular especially on weekends and can garner a huge crowd during big football games, etc. The inside area is nice and there also are plenty of picnic tables outside. I've been to Lewis's, but never home team so it was expecting more of a tray and sit down style, but it is full restaurant come to your table seating. The mac & cheese was very waxy and wouldn't recommend. My friend had collard greens and this was my first time ever trying them, but they were so good here! My sandwich did not come with coleslaw, but was only one dollar to add it on. The prices are pretty high, but you get a lot of food for each meal. There is not a ton of parking out front, but there is a parking lot across the street. It's really only for businesses but if you go on a weekend, the parking lot is empty as they are all closed. read more

Will never cheat on the Mount pleasant location again, it was actual comical how disappointing the service was. Food was great, drinks were great, but we had 2 different servers at first, like they did not know who was supposed to take care of us. We know they are in a tip pool, but this wasn't a helping each other situation, this was a "i have no clue what's going on" and i think what's even more embarrassing is that 2 of the people at our table work for Home Team and they saw how horrendous our service was. 20 mins to take drink orders, and our server who the host said her name was Paige, blonde wearing a pink/red tied dyed with glasses literally disappeared for 40 mins and we had to order drinks up at the bar and ask another server to put in our entree orders (shout out to her cause she was very nice) and the younger guy who actually was looking so hard to find our server! And he could not find her and he was so sweet! Once again, this would never happen at the Mount pleasant location, because 1. They work as a team. 2. This was a second time eating here when we visit! The atmosphere and staff is very friendly! Plenty of seating! Parking is a little tight and you may have to park on the street and walk a little! We all got bbq sammiches! I got baked beans as a side and they were really good! Our niece got Mac and cheese! My wife got Mac and cheese as well! The sammiches were good! Plenty of meat on them! Had a good smoke flavor! The sweet tea is southern sweet so it was great! The Cole slaw was a little on the dry side. The Alabama white sauce was firing on all cylinders! We've been to every Home Team multiple times; Sullivan's is definitely our fave. We're writing this review to compliment the downtown (adjacent) Williman HT on their private party spread. Our company reserved the patio area for our event and provided a pulled pork taco bar, loaded pork sliders (dynamite flavors), crispy tots, and smoked wings. We LOVE HT's wings with Tabasco and the white barbecue sauce. Every station had food in it for a two solid hours. Service was peppy, helpful, and even had time to make small talk with us. Drinks were out quick, which is great considering the warmer temperature and most drinks were frozen. We tried the Game Changer which (yes) was sweet, delicious, and well mixed. One Game Changer is enough, so we switched gears to something less sweet with club soda. HT's bar area is huge, inviting, and every seat looks like it's a great place to watch a/the game. We had one of the worst service experiences here that we ended up, deciding to leave and head over to Rodney Scott's instead. We were there for almost 30 minutes and had only gotten an iced tea to the table. We had asked the waitress if it was OK that we moved our table to a shaded picnic. She said it was fine so we moved ourselves over to a table that recently just had a family leave. We sat at the new table that had yet to be bussed for 5+ mins and watched as other tables were being cleaned around us and servers were taking orders for people nearby. We were basically ignored and then when we asked one of the servers if they would be able to clear the table and that we wanted to place our order. The male server asked us if the hostess had even given us this table and a rather rude way. We told him that yes we were seated at the table next-door and we just had asked the waitress if it was OK that we moved to this other table. he then hastily started to bus the table, but ironically, he bussed. our waters and iced tea that we're actually our drinks instead of busing the part of the table that was the old family's food. We asked him to put the drinks down cause those were ours and he rudely said well you asked me to bus the table so that's what I'm doing. We reminded him yet again that no it was fine, he could leave the drinks there we needed him to do the rest of the table and he said I'll just have to get you other drinks cause I'm doing what exactly what you told me to do. It was completely unnecessary and we were just trying to get some attention. We left. I'm not giving you my money when you're not giving me your time of day. read more

The wings are smoked and rubbed. No sauce. In my opinion the best in town. Not sure why more restaurants do not offer Brunswick Stew but they should. A true low country classic.
