First of all- this is no longer a walk-in deli. This is a sit down restaurant with a walk up coffee counter. Also- the hotel next door provided "vouchers" of sorts, for eating in the restaurant. We used 2 of the three vouchers provided. They are all dated for each day you stay, excepting the last day of checkout. Experience #1-spouse got coffees to go. Everything was fine. Experience #2- dinner, voucher used. Server was chatty and helpful. Dinner was fine, nothing notable but a decent meal. Being able to watch the ocean from our table was nice. Experience #3- breakfast. We chose this restaurant to SAVE TIME. Walk from our room, eat, get going. NOPE- No time saved. We don't know what happened in the kitchen, but we waited too long for our meal, the server eventually started relaying to us that she was working on it. Comped our beverages in the end. But we never even got all our food, and one entree was weird. A kitchen should know how to cook any style of eggs correctly. But after waiting for as long as we did, food just had to be eaten. This was disappointing and frustrating. Wasted a good chunk of our morning. We should have started asking earlier about our order. Hopefully this was a one time thing, but don't hesitate to ask and/or leave if you feel that it is taking a crazy amount of time to process your meal(s). read more

Short of staff, one waitress for ten tables and the host kept seating new tables, the one waitress did it all, delivering waters, taking orders, running food, and bussing tables, with no help, now to the food, I ordered a steak the wife had chicken parm, her plate was huge, but not she did not like the sauce and wished the chicken was pounded before breading. I had a steak I would have seafood but did not like the choices. The Strip steak was prepared as requested but came out looking ran over , and was mostly fat and gristle, it was horrible piece of meat that was hard to cut with a knife, I ate what I could, the waitress apologized for bad meal, but I knew it was management's fault and not hers, do better for your staff As we are staying at the hotel, we were hoping to come back for breakfast, but we afraid we would have another bad meal read more

The best location, the worst food. Food looked and tasted like everything was frozen and then warmed up. Vegetables were inedible mush, chicken was bland with a tasteless sauce. No half/half pizzas available (because they are pre-purchased and not made to order?). This restaurant should capitalize on its primo location and adopt a menu that respects the limitations of its kitchen. Also, no parties of two were permitted to be seated at a 4-top resulting in a 20-minute wait even with 3 tables available. Definitely come for a glass of wine at sunset; but go somewhere else for dinner. read more

This is a bistro/restaurant at the north end of Driftwood Shores resort on Heceta Beach in Florence.We are locals and it was our first time here. We had read that it was under new management and expected a full-on table service menu. Not so, we had to order and pay/tip at the counter before we got our food. We almost turned around and walked out but wanted to try the food. They are trying to get table service back but perhaps there is not enough business to bring it back. We had last stepped in here a year or so ago when it was a deli. Nothing was changed inside. My designer wife said the decor is horrible and screams WAKE ME UP! Tired white paint on the walls and almost zero artwork. There are some pieces of metal artwork in a few places on the walls but that is it. Paint is cheap and could make a world of difference with different colored window trim and wall (and the ceiling looks like it has not seen paint in years). Get some artificial plants and a couple trees. This place needs a marketing wake up call. Get on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and other social media and advertise. Get something to pull in people, especially locals. This is the ONLY RESTAURANT IN FLORENCE THAT IS ON THE BEACH, FOLKS! Take advantage of that fact! Even Yachats does not have a restaurant on the beach. Ona is as close as they get, and it is on the river delta near the beach. Sell some updated sweatshirts, t-shirts and hats and offer a free drink if they wear your garb on future visits. Alicia took our orders at the main desk up front and was friendly, energetic, and was very engaged with her clientele. She gave us recommendations on our food, and we loved that. We both had the smash burgers and fries, and they were excellent - exceeding our expectations. The burgers had great, fresh flavor, had yummy, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato and pickles. The sesame bun was a perfect vessel and did not fall apart. The fries were double fried and had a delicious crispy crunch. This place screams potential and needs some upgrades to bring in more business. We will be back but would really like to see it become a landmark restaurant on Florences only beach. had really loved this place when it first opened- great view but extremely poor service last 2 times. Probably won't bother trying again. Previously waited forever for a sandwich- this time waited 30 minutes for a "bowl of clam chowder" i foolishly thought ordering soup would make service better. couple next to me arrived 15 minutes after me and got their fried food and soup before me :/ i almost walked out. Then finally when "bowl" arrived it was half full (a cup of soup maybe larger if it is full) turned out to be mostly a potato soup -2 small pieces of clam found) with very large potato pieces requiring one to try to cut up within a spoon. "sourdough" bread was white toast and that took longer than the 30 minutes to get, arriving toasted but not buttered. read more

Found this place by doing a quick Yelp review after touring the Sea Lion Caves. It is on the beach but does not have outdoor seating. It is also located in a hotel, which isn't mentioned in the Yelp reviews. There are only a couple tables but it wasn't crowded (and this was a Saturday during the summer). The food did take awhile to come out, but was surprisingly really good. They also have smoothie, cafe and wine available with their breakfast/lunch options. We sat by the window and could see the dunes and people playing in the water. I am going with 4 stars and not 5 because of the lack of fresh seafood, which is what I think of when picking a restaurant on the beach. The homemade pastries were also amazing...but we forgot to grab photos. read more

The service was excellent. The table with ocean view was nice. The food portions were sufficient. However, they'd run out of English Muffins so the Classic Eggs Benedict were on sour dough bread that was tough. The Canadian Bacon was like thick cut ham - also tough. Too much lemon in the H. sauce.The fruit cup with it was good. My partner had regular eggs, toast, sausage, etc, and it was good. We had breakfast Sunday morning here. Everyone greeted us with smiles. We got a window seat with ocean view & noticed things had been changed around a bit from a deli to a full-on restaurant. The breakfast menu had a lot of options & my 3 egg omelet was delicious! The home potatoes were really seasoned nicely & I told the chef so when he came by to check on everyone. The chowder was good and seems about the same as it used to be. we ordered the Calamari and were very disappointed. it was greasy and underdone, probably the worst Calamari I have ever had. This replaced the out dated hotel restaurant. It's eclectic. There is a Market which provides a typical diner menu (eat in or takeout). It also sports a small grocery (think gas station convenience items,) with staple groceries and some fresh produce. The Market also has a good selection of wine and beer. Then there is a bonafide Deli. Not large but a nice selection of pre-made burritos/sandwiches, cut to order meats, cheeses and pastries - the perfect stop to prep for a beach picnic! There are also fun things like kites for the beach and beautiful local artist pieces for sale. We have family here so we'd always had a routine of checking in and then having to go out to grocery store. Tonight was delightfully different. Checked in, then only had to walk across parking lot and brought back some wine, clam chowder, chicken noodle soup (tasted and looked homemade!) and an excellent Caesar chicken salad turned into a wrap. My husband and I got Fish & Chips with both onion rings and fries. We both agreed that the fries were okay as long as they were still hot. The Fish, tarter sauce, slaw and onion rings had ZERO flavor. Our waitress didn't come back to check on us once. Yet there was another waitress at the table next to us talking the entire time we were there. That waitress noticed I picked up my purse and we had pushed our plates away and were waiting for the check.. but she didn't offer to help us or to get our waitress. Finally, I saw our waitress and waved her down. The only reason I gave this review one star was the due to the view. It is a nice view and even though we live close, we won't be back. First impressions are important guys. If I had been the manager I would not have waitress' who ignore the guests. read more

I can't recall actually the date I was there, but I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken on top. The gallata register, checked in the kitchen and said that the chicken was not thought out. Can you believe it? This was at midday, and the chicken was still frozen. So she said, hold on and I'll check to see what it would take and she came back and said, I'm really sorry I can't put chicken on your salad. What else would you like on? It and I said, shrimp, I didn't want the shrimp, but I wanted something besides lettuce, so they put shrimp on my salad, and it was limp, tasteless and pathetic! I almost sent the whole d*** salad back. I will never ever go there again. Terrible! read more

A very small seating area with eight 4 person tables, 2 steps down from the main level-and there was a handrail which was helpful, as one of our party was disabled. Order at the counter. Condiments, napkins plastic cutlery in little cellophane packets, etc. are self-serve. Ordered coffee (also self serve) but the pot was empty, though quickly refilled. I never figured out how to get a glass of water. The server brought the orders to the table and then disappeared. Lovely large Caesar salad, but the burgers came with pickles after pointedly requesting (and repeating three times) that they be left off. One of the burgers got sent back. I decided to try a bit and it did not taste good, it was just regular shredded jack cheese out of a bag.
