Not sure why they're not 5 star. Underrated, local diner with some history. I had the Diablo bowl for breakfast on recommendation of the waitress and I'm glad I did. Bowl of Chorizo, home fries, egg over medium, cheddar cheese, sausage gravy. It really hit the spot. I went with the biscuit on the side instead of toast. Again, glad I did. Flakey and buttery. Next day I came back for lunch. Had the BLTA on sourdough with a side of fries and a Bloody Mary. The sandwich had perfectly portioned bacon and produce ratio. Silly metric, I know but a sandwich with too much tomato or mayo or avocado can spoil the meal with a mess. Fries were great too. What a fun place to visit. Our server was Jason and we sat in the bar and he was very easy to get along with and very knowledgeable about the items on the food menu. The place was very packed and was super busy, which tells you that a lot of people like going here. I ordered a beer while my sister ordered a cider. As well as we only stopped in for lunch to try some the food which I ordered the Tacompton and she had the French dip Jason check back in with us after we had a couple bites. Love the loaded loaded hashbrowns- the gravy is so peppery and delicious! Fries are also so good, we were a little disappointed by the little bit of queso we got on the fries for $3.00. Would probably skip the queso next time. In the past we have come pretty early on the weekend and typically get seated quickly but we got here around 10:30 today and had to wait 50 minutes to be seated. Service was slow. They were short-staffed. I ordered flapjacks and immediately spotted a long hair on top. The server apologized and took them back. Well, when the new plate arrived, I started buttering them. Everything looked good, until I got to the bottom pancake and noticed a chunk missing. At that point I joked that these are the same pancakes and they just cut out the hairy part and hid it underneath. I wish that was the end of the joke. As I kept buttering, I found a hair cooked into the bottom pancake. Not only on it, but cooked into it. You can even see in the photo where part of the pancake is missing. Love Hob-Nob- a Tacoma staple, right on the perimeter of Wright Park, so parking can be tricky. The place is huge- plenty of seating. I've visited the lounge, which is in the way back- stiff solid drinks at a reasonable price. Definitely go for breakfast too- place is always packed, food is solid! I was fully expecting a super dive, but they've done a reno fairly recently and the place has an open and clean vibe to it. The service has always been fast and friendly. The food comes out nice and hot. What isn't there to like about this place?! While it's not their focus, they do have veg*n options and they're on top of it. I recently ordered a vegan scramble and asked for a biscuit on the side - the server knew that the biscuit wasn't vegan and informed me right away; it is, however, vegetarian so I happily went for it (and made a really great sandwich out of it the next morning!). Came for brunch / breakfast and wait was about 15min for 3ppl. Parking is only on the street, so find the place and then drive down a side street to park. One of the dishes ordered was the Chicken Biscuit. Requested the honey butter on the side and used their gravy that is placed on their potatoes which was excellent. The dish can actually feed 2 ppl. The restaurant was nice and cool for a hot day. Sat down in a booth had food crumbs on the seat which was frustrating to have to wide down. The staff were welcoming and our server was great. Highly recommend trying, let's hope their next inspection is higher than "Okay" and they fixed their health issues. read more

We must have come in at a popular time because this place was packed! Unfortunately, when it is, it can get a little loud with all the patrons trying to out talk each other. We waited just under 10 minutes to get a table. It did take a while for our server to help us because she wasn't notified we were seated away from the main fountain area. Hubs thoroughly enjoyed his veggie egg white scramble! He could not stop saying it being so delicious!! I order the waffle breakfast. We came here for brunch (breakfast). Our server was AMAZING! So helpful and friendly. I spoke with her before everyone else arrived to see if they could accommodate my many requests. I was just coming off a juice fast and asked for my vegan meal to be made without oil or salt. She said it was no problem! However, I don't think she put two and two together and realized the home fries are deep fried. But it wasn't that big of a deal. I only ate a few of them. Others in our party are vegetarian, gluten-free, and low-carb. It's not often we can find a restaurant that meets all of our needs, so this was really a treat! After having to re-fire her meal it was nothing but a fake smile from her. In one ear & out the other on autopilot. We asked for the check & a box. Promptly received the check, no box. She went MIA as we sat waiting for a good 10min.... Shit like this made me question my tip & want to stiff. A different server gave us the tiniest box. Again,... Five stars food and services! when my granddaughter comes in from Seattle, that's our place. That's our go to place. We have a favorite server. So we ordered all our food from her, including the appetizers for the bar after we have our eggs Benedict. We go to the bar with our fried brussels sprouts and have lemon drop martinis and the bartender makes the best one ever had. by far.! next time I'll go there I'll get her name. We're so caught up with the eggs Benedict and the fresh hollandaise sauce made daily. I'm really reluctant to give this review because I'm afraid I'll have to park on Pacific Avenue and walk up not something this old girl can do. read more
