Our foodie group came to Homet Hot Pot buffet one Monday night for dinner, and it was quite the experience. I do not know why I have not been here before for dinner, because the concept is very clever and amazing. You can get the hot pot buffet which consists of your choice of hot pot soup for the base and you go to the buffet to pick out your toppings or items to put into the soup. The soup is on a heated table that controls the temperature of the soup and you can adjust the temperature of the soup to make it boil to cook the items you put into the soup such as sliced beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, vegetables, etc. You can also just get the regular buffet w/o the hot pot soup if you so desire. The buffet itself is very impressive and huge! They have a wide variety to choose from, and it is clearly labeled hot pot only for those items you can put into your soup. They have a sushi bar and a dessert bar as well if you are into sushi and dessert. The selection of sushi and desserts are pretty decent. The service is wonderful for a buffet type restaurant. The staff bring you your beverage of choice and help you turn on the table for your soup to get it ready for you to begin your meal. They do an excellent job checking on you to see if you need more soup or refills on your beverage. I chose the mushroom soup for my base and put a variety of vegetables and meat into my soup and cooked it for a few minutes. It does not take long for the soup to cook with your ingredients in it, so you can enjoy the meal within a few minutes. This was one of the more unique dining experiences I have ever had for this type of restaurant, but it was enjoyable and I loved trying something different for a change. The mushroom soup was fantastic with all the ingredients I chose to put into the soup, and for a cold evening ,this was the perfect meal. Homey Hot Pot Buffet is a supreme choice for a hot meal and a dining experience you will never forget in Indy. Everyone needs to come here for dinner to experience it at least once while living in Indy. It is truly worth the time and price. Simply amazing!!

02/16/2024 We opt for the spicy hot soup and herbal. Herbal had more flavor while spicy was mild spicy but they have a well stocked, variety sauce bar that included fresh chilis, chili oil, and dried chili so believe I made that spicy soup "spicy" . My partner got majority seafood which they offer a big selection of from 2 types of crab, 2-3 types of clams, shrimp, squid, fish, crawfish etc. By the end of the meal, her soup was so flavorful and seafood-y, she drank the whole soup. Mine was more meat base which they offer lean beef, fatty beef, lamb, pork belly, and more for all kinds of people to choose from. They make it so convenient and offer a big variety to eat hotpot that it's better to eat here than for me to go buy the ingredients, make the soup base, prep the sauce and set up the table. Staff and manager was attentive with soup refills, napkins, and taking dirty plates. Wish they refill my drink more often but not a complaint. I recommend grab the instant noodle package and use the seasoning inside to flavor your soup even more. Overall, I look forward to coming back and probably tomorrow since it snowed. Hope this is helpful Thanks

Half mushroom soup, half hot & spicy. Both sides loaded with veggies and chicken.

Today, my FDD and I decided to take a road trip for lunch. Yes, that's right, we drove almost 2 hours just to eat at Homey. You know how people say that some of the best places to eat are in the plainest buildings? Homey could be the source of that saying. But inside...inside is a huge buffet of deliciousness. What a cool concept. Your choice of soup (broth, mostly) is brought to your table and placed on a burner for you to cook the meats and veggies gathered from the enormous buffet. If this is your first time here, be forewarned that it doesn't take long for your food to cook once the soup is boiling. While the chicken was extremely tender, my veggies were almost too soft to eat. I've never been accused of being the greatest cook at home, and now I've proved at I'm not much better at cooking outside of it either. Haha. Come hungry, drink the broth, leave happy.

My first time at a hot-pot restaurant. I wasnt really sure what I was doing but it was fun and everything ended up tasting really good. They have a standard Chinese buffet with prepared items you can eat including some quality sushi and good stir fries. But the real appeal is the hot pot bar. You get a bowl of one or two kinds of broth at your seat which sits atop a burner on your table. You then proceed to go to the Hot Pot buffet and pick any of 50 raw ingredients you bring back your seat and braise in the boiling broth: veggies, noodles, proteins...many exotic items I never saw before. Fun and delicious meal for lots of reasons. I'll be back !

As for hot pots this place is not the best. They have a sauce bar but everything is mislabeled. They also didn't have ingredients that are needed for suggested sauces to create. There is a Chinese buffet as well. As well as buffet style hot pot. There is a huge selection as to pick to put in your hot pot which is cool. But the instructions on how long to cook each item were non existent. This spot is cool to experience and I love the idea. The food quality is just not there but the price is also pretty cheap compared to other hot pots. So be cautious on what you want before going.

It is all about the AYCE hotpot! Other things are just added on but don't let them distract you from the prize! Pros: Good hotpot at an amazing price! Cons: The non hotpot things are not good. Five of us got AYCE hotpot! 25.99 each and it was well worth it. Each person get their own pot with their own broth. Ingredients and picked buffet style. Everything was fresh and the selection was huge. We stayed for an hour and a half and were never rushed or asked to leave. Broth was regularly refilled and when we finished we paid up front simple and easy. Just don't order the sashimi. Its sub par (frozen) but wont hurt you. They also have average deserts and other foods but you wont want those compared to the food.

I would give Homey 3.8 rating. Pretty good hotpot. I will be lenient with this place due to the fact that they are still operating during these times. I really enjoyed my hotpot experience. I love that the buffet is still open and that you were able to grab as you pleased. Most places have staff members serve the buffet line, which takes forever. I decided to do the hot pot and buffet experience. I quickly chose a few items from the buffet and sushi bar. I was not really impressed with the buffet line up for the cooked or sushi items. The sushi rice was mostly dry and hard. Sort of like grocery store sushi. The cooked items also appeared to have been sitting out for awhile. -- regardless I came for the hotpot and not the buffet. They have a vast assortment of toppings for your soup. Be sure to look for the beef before you fill yourself with all of the fish balls and vegetables. The sauce bar was great too. I did a combo of peanut sauce, chili oil, red fermented bean curd and white fermented bean curd and cilantro and scallions. The tables are designed so everyone can have their own soups. Staff was friendly. I wish they turned on more lights, the pendant lighting above the tables were off. Desserts at the buffet were just okay. Typical Chinese buffet desserts: jello, pudding, generic cakes, and fruit. Would come here again, just for the hotpot. They might have an all you can eat sushi only option, but again, I think their specialty is the hotpot.

Don't let the strip mall face scare you upon arriving as this space does not disappoint. This was my first time visiting and I was quite impressed. We were looking to start a new family tradition for New Year's Eve and I think we found it. This was our very first time trying out hit pot and it was sooo darn good! We did have to wait a short bit for a table to open up on the hot pot side, but it was well worth the wait. Diners have the option of choosing the buffet only or hot pot and sushi which allows you to get anything. We adults got hot pots and the kiddos got the buffet. If you have a kiddo who actually has a great appetite they may be able to finish a hot pot on their own, but I would suggest this for the bigger kiddos for sure. Upon ordering your hot pot they will bring out your broth and turn it on to heat up individually at the table, so one hot pot per person. You then go over to the hot pot section at their buffet and gather all of your favorite ingredients to bring back to your table to cook in your hot pot. And if you think it takes lo g to cook you will be surprised as it cooks quite quickly. When visit this restaurant be prepared to leave completely full and utterly satisfied. You may also get as much sushi as you want here as well as food at the rest of the buffet as well. One thing I really noticed was how fresh all of their seafood and meats were. Not a weird smell in the building! I have to say this was such fun place to experience. If you love noodles and Asian food I highly recommend checking this place out on a day where you have plenty of time to relax and enjoy.

I've come here twice with my partner now for AYCE hot pot and I absolutely adore this place. You walk in, they'll seat you down, & you'll order your broths & drinks. After that, they will bring the broths & drinks then you do the rest. The service here is great, they're always very nice and they refill our broths/drinks when they get low. For the hot pot itself, the selection is pretty good. Sometimes the cleanliness of the buffet area is questionable, but we haven't gotten food poisoning so I'm not bothered by it. They have a wide variety of seafood, vegetables, meats, ramen, and more. My one complaint is that everything isn't correctly labeled so for some of the rarer options, you're guessing what you're getting if you don't recognize it. For their sauce bar, it is dirtier in that area. Just be picky in choosing your bowl and sauces. They do have a wide variety of sauces, oils, & topping so I love it. You go pay at the front at the end. It's $60 for 2 people, so a steal in my opinion. I love this place and I'm sure I'll be back soon!

Is the buffet part on a separate floor? I read a review that mentioned the buffet is "downstairs." Is that true? How would a disabled person get there? Thanks

There are about 4-6 wide steps with railings on each side to the lower level where the large food buffet is. There may be an elevator off to one side. I don't recall a ramp. Best to call them to get your answer.

Is one hot pot for 2 people or do they each get their own?

Each person gets their own and there was a burner at each place setting. That way, each person can choose their own preferred broth option.

I was wondering if the buffet is self served or if the waitress give you what you've picked? i wasn't sure especially since covid is still around and in a buffet everyone would be touching the same serving spoons, etc etc

Self serve, but there are gloves and hand sanitizer at the buffet. The buffet for Chinese food is limited. The hot pot side is still about the same amount of stuff.

Is there a difference between lunch and dinner options on the weekend buffet? I specifically mean…

I probably wouldn't go with sushi at this place because $25 per roll is New York level price, unless it is cooked from very fresh ingredients to the highest standard. I can't remember her name but she was so detailed in her descriptions, thoughtful with her suggestions, and had the perfect amount of attentiveness. Now on to the fun parts.... Drinks were a hit! We told our server what we like and they recommended a couple options. I again can't remember the exact name of the drink but mine was a gin cocktail. I'll attach some photos for you. As for the food, every bite I took was delicious. Our table shared the fried brussel sprouts and the ginger miso salad. A very lovely way to ease into our meal on a lighter note. They split up the salad onto two plates for us, which was sweet of them. The portion was pretty good for a $12 salad. Very refreshing. Brussel sprouts were absolutely fire. Get them! Along with that, I also ordered the tempura shrimp maki roll. Inside the roll was cucumber and avocado with giant tempura shrimp right on top, drizzled in spicy mayo. The presentation was cool, a slightly deconstructed version of what I would get somewhere else. There wasn't a single bite left on the plate. I would order all three of these dishes again in a heartbeat. Perfect for a date night or special occasion, but also works for just grabbing a bite with friends. Whenever I find myself back in Indy, Modita will be on my list.

We came in on a Friday night at 6:30 with no reservation, and had to wait ~5 minutes for a table of two. We were sat at a high top at the bar, which we appreciated. Our server greeted us quickly, and checked in a few times throughout the night. Service was average, nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about. I had a hurricane to start off. Packed full of the good stuff, and one was definitely enough for the night. Appropriate price for what you get. This drink is what brought my review from a 2 for the food to a 3 in total. We started off with pork Bao buns. The bun was spongy, but somewhat dry. The pork lacked any sort of flavor, and the sauce on it didn't do much for me. The next part of the meal was the most disappointing for me: the curry chicken wings. Let me tell you- I was excited for these. These lacked any sort of flavor at all, and the only thing saving it was the ranch. The wings had a good crisp, but the sauce was lacking taste. I had the Shoyu ramen for my main. It was a pretty average bowl of ramen, but for the price, I expected more. The pork in it was flavorful, but the chicken in it was odd in my opinion with an unexpected herby flavor. Overall, service was average (but we appreciated getting sat fast), drinks were strong (and saved the meal) and the food was average. Would go if invited by a friend, but probably would not return on my own.

I remember the sauce being a little more red last time, but it was still good. Super crispy exterior and no excess batter so we just tasted the juicy chicken. The two entrees we got were the spicy chicken and jaeyuk. The spicy chicken was flavorful and tender. Along with the chicken, the veggies were stir fried nicely and coated in the broth. The jaeyuk was a little better with the pork having a great marinade and also being super tender. The one important thing I would say, is that when you place an online order, they don't mark which dish is which. In my case, my boyfriend is allergic to one of the items in my dish and I had to dig through both bowls to confirm whose order belonged to who.

I had a bowl with sweet potato noodles, some veggies and the Korean crispy chicken. The flavors were good, but the thing that struck me was that some of the items were essentially cold and others were lukewarm, but none of it was really hot. I think it's an inherent property of what they do. They never "grill" or warn all these items together. It would be much better IMO if all the items were stir fried or thrown on a grill quickly together to warm up the dish and meld the flavors. That said the Korean crispy chicken was flavorful and the noodles were a highlight, and seemed to be like Thai glass noodles I've had before. My dining partner got a bowl with the same noodles, some veggies and the salmon. She really like the salmon, and said her bowl was good. The restaurant was clean, the workers were very welcoming and helpful on informing how to pick bowl items, etc. Parking was very easy. Of course they accept all the standard forms of payment, including tap to pay, etc. Overall, if you like interesting yet potentially disparate flavors together in the same bowl, you will likely enjoy BIBIBOP. We had already eaten a few bites when I remembered to take the pics (Apologies).
