Great service and I really appreciated it because I took my 85 year old parents and instead of a nightmare for me, the staff walked along with my parents explaining everything (including talking my mom out of using so many spices. She was just going to pour it all in her bowl.). The food is exactly what you expect... you pick out all the ingredients you want and then you hand it off to the grillers and they mix it up and grill it and then deliver it right to your table. They have a lunch and dinner menu and I find going for lunch. It's plenty whereas going for dinner. I can't eat that much so I do appreciate the options they give. Yummy Bowl was a solid experience overall. The food tasted good and felt like a great amount for the price. It was my first time, so I was a little confused at first, but once I watched how it worked it made sense. You fill your bowl with whatever you want, then they cook it how you like and bring it out. Service was good and it was fun watching them cook everything right in front of you! The staff was friendly and kept things moving. 1st time visiting this location, its a bit smaller than the Avon location. The reason for 4 starts instead of 5 is due to the service. Our server seemed to be in a rush when working with us, it set a weird tone for the experience. The food was great though, the ingredients were full and fresh and the wait was not bad at all considering we were a larger table too. The dining room this afternoon was very loud so it was a bit hard to hear one another when we tried talking across the table. But thats not the fault of the restaurant. read more

Since they give you rice - I always skip the tempting other carbs otherwise I am going to need two bowls and no rice! I built mine with cabbage, bean sprouts, zucchini, broccoli, mushrooms, bok choy, green peppers, green onions, and shrimp (yess I managed to fit it all in!). But really it is the sauce combo that makes the magic so pick wisely! They geniusly have baby tasting spoons (so cute) so you can taste the sauce! I picked 2 as suggested - hibachi sauce for a tangy sweetness and Thai chili sauce for just a touch of kick and a complimentary sweetness (I would say this is low to medium heat). The Mongolian Grill near our house in North suburban Indy closed a few years ago, so I was thrilled when we were spending a couple nights on the south side and I saw that there was one right across the street from our hotel. Other than having a little trouble communicating with the hostess, who also became our server, everything was great. We indicated that it was our first time there, and she struggled to give us directions as to exactly how we needed to proceed, but we kept at it and eventually got the information we needed. One thing I loved was that the meat was unlimited. You could have as much as you thought you could eat and fit in your bowl. I've recently gone to a couple Mongolian grills in a couple other cities, and they limit your meat portion by adding it to your bowl after you add your own veggies. I also liked the plethora of sauce choices, and everything came to us very hot and freshly cooked. In my case, I combined chicken, pork, and shrimp, along with several different vegetables, and selected teriyaki and garlic sauces for them to add as they cooked it. I liked that we could add our sauce in little cups, to control how much or how little we wanted of each. It was all delicious. We greatly enjoyed our meals, and look forward to going back when we're in that part of town again! read more

Very loud when it's busy, there's not a lot in the restaurant to dampen sound. Some changes I've noticed is the prices keep increasing, which we didn't see the price for the yummy bowl on their menu at all. Last time I came here (06/13/2025) a lunch bowl was $12.99, and as of 07/20/2025 it is $14.99 for a regular lunch yummy bowl. Stopped in on Sunday after 1pm and the parking lot was almost completely full, but it was a Christmas shopping weekend and there are six places to eat all right together plus some stores mixed in as well. I did find some empty spaces out next to Emerson Ave. There was what looked like one party waiting for a table but the sushi bar has a counter that seats six people and it didn't look like anybody was there so I asked for the counter and was seated right away. Having recently ate at their Avon location I was ready to fine tune my last Yummy Bowl creation. This time around I only went with four meat choices instead of six. Much better that way. I added an egg this time. I might add two next time. I stayed with the same veggies as last time but I think I need to increase the onions so I'm still looking for perfection. Service overall was great and efficient. My server brought my bowl direct from the grill. It didn't sit on the counter and get a bell ring. That is exceptional service. The process is a little daunting at first, but our server Jackie was super helpful in helping us through. (Especially since I have some food allergies, the shared prep area is a little nerve-wracking, but he put a sticker on my board to make sure it was prepped separately.) You either get one bowl for a set price, or unlimited -- but keep in mind that you can't take your leftovers to go if you get a second bowl (because you're unlimited now.) I only got one, and was impressed by how inexpensive it was given the amount of food you get! There's absolutely an art to stacking your bowl, which I apparently just need to make more trips to perfect. If you go with a more experience friend, follow their lead -- don't try to figure it out on your own. We both opted for the "yummy bowl", where you go through a buffet line of raw ingredients and sauces, then they cook everything up on a large round stone. It was fascinating watching the process. They deliver the finished bowl to your table. I loaded mine with veggies - there are lots of choices and they look fresh - chicken and shrimp. You can also add eggs on the side (they don't go into your bowl) I sprinkled some spices on top for extra flavor, then selected hibachi sauce and brown gravy ( gravy!!!). Seriously one of our favorite places to eat. Unless you are absolutely ravenous, just go for the single bowl and learn to stack. We actually use the carrots to go around the inside of the bowl to make the rim higher. Select your base m, rice or noodles and then go fill your bowl with veggies and meats.
