First time having Ramen , I had the spicy garlic miso ramen , it was delicious. I would gladly order from here again.

Totally amazing! I liked the spicy ramen and the chicken ramen was good but not as great. Great ambience and vibes.

Finally decided to try this establishment, so glad we did. The ambiance was nice and inviting. Our server Michelle was attentive and did a very good job on checking in on us, service was on point. We were hungry, so we decided to go all out. We ordered the veggie rolls to start out with, and a couple beers to wash it down with. Good flavor, and nice and crispy. The sauce complimented the spring rolls well. The popcorn lobster was very tasty as well, perfect bite sizes and just the right amount. The Hon roll was really good. The shrimp with the crab, omg...the eel sauce was a perfect match. The Veggie ramen w/ jalapeños was warm and tasty, make sure to ask for chili paste, it put a bang in the ramen. I must say, from the atmosphere, to the excellent service from our server Michelle, and the tasty food. I give Hon Ramen, 2 thumbs up. The food, service, and ambiance were perfect until the very end. Then, they cornered my partner and me, demanding a tip and completely changing their attitude when I said I had no money left--despite just spending around $80 on their food. The owner gave me a sob story, claiming that the cost of cleaning the kitchen comes out of the employees' paychecks and that they depend on tips. That makes no sense and is illegal. Tipping culture in America is insane--businesses have forgotten what tipping actually means. It's not a fee; it's a token of gratitude that the customer voluntarily gives. I genuinely enjoyed everything, but I am not obligated to tip. Had they asked nicely, I might have tried to find some extra money to leave one. I had the Hon Ramen and although I've had a more flavorful broth at other establishments the chashu was cooked to perfection. I also asked for a soft boiled egg and it was a bit over cooked. Overall the ramen was good and I would come back for another try. Also had the takoyaki which was fine. Nothing extraordinary but I would order it again. Nice spot I stumbled upon while downtown for the first time. I would give 3.5 stars if possible. Give it a try. Solid ramen choice. I'll have to try some sushi next time. read more

We asked her if we can move to an area against the wall that has better lighting so we can see our menu and she told us only a party of 6 or more can sit there, even thought we can CLEARLY see a party of 2 sitting there on the booths, she was extremely rude about it too. We've eaten here in the past and that has never been a thing, I've came with my sister and we've sat in that area with no problems. In terms of food, I think it is okay at best, the broth can be a little bland and the chicken isn't the best, it's pretty rubbery, I hope this place can improve their service. read more

I've been there multiple times and every time before has been an excellent experience. the last time i went their cups were dirty. she brought them out 3 different times. they seated me and then waited over 14 minutes to ask for my drink.. i had to pull a server to get it then they came with dirty glasses not ONCE not TWICE but THREE TIMES. i don't mind the wait but for the drinks?? make me wait for my food not drinks. then she was fairly rude . it was an asian lady i usually get the tall white boy as my server and he has always been amazing but once i got her it went all downhill. they didn't even discount the dirty drink which is fine im not looking for a hand out but maybe some hospitality? she sat and chatted with the table next to us even told them about the yelp review and to leave her a nice one for discounted drinks.. she sure. knew not to ask my table she knew she messed up and did NOTHING to fix it is my problem... you knew you were wrong and did not try to help fix it or anything . as much as i love the food and the kale noodles i unfortunately wont be back here. solely based off of the customer service on my last experience.. one bad experience can mess up all the good ones smh. read more

My pal got the classic Hon Ramen and the noodles were delicioussss, he said the meat is tender and the broth is "very brothy" (his words not mine. This ramen is so authentic and freaking delicious! I just went to Tokyo and when I say this place compared, I'm not kidding. I got the spicy ramen and my husband got the miso and both were delish. If you prefer spicy, highly recommend. Service was a tad slower but we weren't in a rush and I know they were packed with few staff that night. read more

Amazing food, me and my husband have been coming here for so long it's our favorite ramen spot in Bakersfield, however this last trip our waiter was very pushy on the reviews and on top of that was pushy on leaving her a tip. My family and I love going to Hon Ramen so much that we honestly go at least once a week. The ramen (best in town), sushi, and appetizers we've had since discovering this spot have all been so delicious, every time! And the service is unlike anywhere in Bakersfield in my opinion. They're so attentive, polite, and friendly, I would be happy being friends outside of their work hours haha. Also, one of the first things we noticed the first time we went was how awesome the ambiance is. It's so clean and cozy. I told my husband I wanted to decorate our house how they have it in there hahaha. Overall 5 stars, would recommend!! We've visited other spots in town over time but this is our favorite and it's truly the most authentic! We will continue supporting this restaurant and enjoying everything about it. :) read more

The chashu pork is divine and always melts in your mouth. The soft boiled egg is always perfect. The add-ins are simple and elevate the elegance, the richness, and the brilliant umami of the tonkatsu broth that's the base for both the spicy tonkatsu and spicy garlic miso ramen. The noodles are always cooked perfectly. This review has been a long time overdue but Hon Ramen is simply, far and away the best ramen in town. As the weather gets cooler/colder in Bakersfield -- my being just craves another hot bowl of the spicy garlic miso ramen. I could not recommend it more to anyone who asks where's the best place to get ramen. The answer is simply and only Hon. Also, shoutout the wait staff. They are always so kind and respectful. Came here on a Thursday and took a spot at the bar. There are some wine options as well as a couple of beer, no crafts. I settled for a house red that helped to compliment the food. I ordered the seaweed salad and Hon ramen. Good flavor of sesame oil throughout the seaweed salad. The ramen arrives as I'm still working on the salad. The server notes it's hot and to be careful, so by the time I had finished the salad the ramen was at perfect temperature. The broth is rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of salt (generally my main criticism with ramen spots). The noodles are perfectly cooked and half cooked egg was perfection. I ordered the veggie ramen bowl and the others ordered the spicy pork ramen bowl. Mine was so delicious I could have drank the broth. It was that good folks. My brother-in-law did just that. He drank the remaining broth. The spicy bowl was too spicy for my husband. And he loves spice. You can order the spice in the side or even just mild. Good to know. The service was great. A bit of a mixed bag. + House salad was basic ingredients but came with a fantastic ginger-spiked dressing + Hon roll was fine but was unappetizing to look at smashed into a to go container and didn't come with any pickled ginger. It could have used a little kicked. + Veg ramen broth was OK, ingredients meh, but the egg was perfect I get that Styrofoam containers are cheap and keep prices down, but they are terrible for the planet and just as bad for the dining experience. I have been holding off on this review for quite some time now since ramen places have been popping up more frequent in Bakersfield. I think Hon Ramen is probably # 2 for me from all the ramen places in Bakersfield. Restaurant is located downtown. Food is really good, but I don't think the ramen is the star for me. You're gonna think I'm crazy, but the pot stickers were the star. I honestly believe they make the wonton from scratch. It tastes super fresh and delicious. As far as portion size on the ramen, I believe other ramen places give a little bit more and that's not something that would stop me from going here, but for some people who have a big appetite may not like the portions. I definitely would like to come back and try other items here. Staff here seems like they are a family owned business and are really friendly. The downside is that it's kinda dark inside and I wish that it was much brighter because it's hard to read the menu for me. Restaurant is a decent size and they can accommodate to a large party. Parking can be an issue if you come during the busy hours. I do know that they don't only serve ramen here, so if you don't like ramen they also have sushi and poke. They also have the pork buns, but I wasn't a big fan of their chashu in the pork bun because to me it wasn't as flavorful as some other places I have tried.
