Ambiance: Rustic restaurant in Fredericksburg with a charming patio area - we chose Hondo's because they are dog friendly! The patio area was kept extremely clean and the fans actually made it bearable to sit outside for lunch at 11am in August (impressive!) They were setting up for live music and the service was fast. Enjoyed the quesadillas and loved the curly fries. Street parking out front, pet friendly, and a chill spot to eat after perusing Main Street.

Hondo's is a five. They have hot cheesy Tex-Mex as it should be, live music and dynamo cocktails. The pineapple infused marg is alike the pangalatic something or other brain smasher Douglas Adam's describes in his Hitchhiker series. Olde Irish Proverb "you aren drinking all day unless you start before lunch. Hondos is so inclined. I'm a fan of live acoustic music and there's plenty of that here today. Tones of Jonny Cash, John Melancamp and such like. Very nice- the crowd is clapping between songs. Update: Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster is considered by the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy to be the "best drink in existence". While almost impossible to make on planet Earth, its effects really are similar to "having your brains smashed in by a slice of lemon wrapped round a large gold brick."

Hondo's is exactly what you'd expect. An open, outdoor seating area and live music add to the ambience. The counter service is a nice touch for a quick ordering. We had a well-balanced meal of fries and salad, lol. Nothing over the top, but a nice meal as always at Hondo's.

The food was delicious-- Tex-Mex meets classic American bar type food. The matchsticks and queso were standout appetizers, some of the best I've had. The margarita was also delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly! There are both indoor and outdoor seating plus live music, overall a great vibe!

indoor and outdoor venue and is self service restaurant. i got the chicken sandwhich and curly fries and really enjoyed it. It's a LOT OF BREADING and very little chicken. made it seem bigger than what it is. regardless i left full and satisfied. my bf got a chicken fried chicken and he didn't like it that much bc its more breading than chicken. next time he's gonna swap the side out instead of mashed potatoes.

Nice place to hang out on Main Street in Fredericksburg, with outdoor seating and live music. The food is decent, though about what you would expect from a tourist-focused spot. Overall, it's a fun little place to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and spend some time downtown.

This spot came highly recommended from friends of ours on our trip to Fredericksburg! It's super casual, but the food is delicious! Portions are huge and if you're looking for a hefty dinner after wineries all day, this is your spot! The live music is also a nice touch! We were here in July so it was hot out but once the sunset it was pretty nice! We had the chicken fried steak and the fried chicken and both were delicious! Both were fried great and super tender! We'll definitely have to be back to try some of the other items on the menu!

If there is one thing you shouldn't do in this life, it's get the "enchiladas" from Hondos. Also my sandal broke in the restaurant. Bad omen. The BURGER WITH CURLY FRIES HOWEVER WAS SOMETHING SERIOUS. I ate it so fast i couldn't even get a picture.

Hondo's is super casual, so come as you are. You can tell everyone (including the locals) enjoy this place. Parking was pretty easy on the side street nearest. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. My friends and I went in mid-May, and it was already getting pretty warm. So, we were seated at a table inside. I found it to be pretty warm inside. The doors are kept wide open and I think that might've been the only air circulating. The space gives a nice Texas, country feel with lots of pictures on the wall. There was live music to enjoy, as well. Although you're seated, it's pretty casual in that you go to the bar to order your food and drinks. They'll give you a buzzer and you get your food from a pick up window inside. We really enjoyed our food and drinks. I can't remember the drink I had but it was strong and pineapple. I remember the pineapples being soaked in the alcohol as the selling point for me. We ordered a burger to split, curly fries covered in pulled pork and goodness, and queso with steak. Loved all of these but the queso was really more than I expected and it got cold fast. So eat it fast. All the portions were actually huge. I really liked Hondo's and would go back (earlier or later in the year).

Came here during Oktoberfest on a Saturday early afternoon and was seated right away on the open patio area. Live music was nice and the ceiling fans above the outside tables was much appreciated. We stuck w appetizers and margaritas and had a great time overall! Definitely would be back to try more items and the atmosphere.

She also has helped me by showing me some of her favorite drinks and plates. I am blown away at how they keep up the great service even when it is packed, and this place definitely gets full, especially on weekends. I prefer coming on a random weekday to get a break from the lines. But I will definitely wait in line for this place if I get a craving during the busy times. This is a must try spot for those unsure where to go for some amazing brunch and goodtimes.

Vibe is euro-bistro and the staff is perfectly attentive. Prices are high, but honestly aligned to the quality of the food, at least the dishes we had were worth the prices. Food: Buttermilk Fried Chicken, with Onion/Bacon flash fried collard greens, whipped potatoes and house gravy and Jalapeno Cornbread for $32 Reuben on Marble Rye for $24 16oz Stella Artois for $10 We agreed that the fried chicken (5/5) was the best we could remember having. Whipped potatoes (5/5) were light, fluffy and perfect taste/texture. The gravy was like brown butter (5/5). The collard greens (5/5) were flash fried and if you've never had them like this, it's like eating collard green potato chips. Cornbread (3/4) was a bit too delicate and sweet for our taste. You couldn't pick it up without it falling apart. The Ruben (3/5). My wife loves a good Ruben sandwich. This one had the makings of a good one, but they use a Thousand Island sauce (too much of it) on the sandwich, and it hides the flavor of the meat. Next time we would ask for the sandwich without the TI sauce, see if that improves the rating. The sandwich came with house made potato chips (5/5), a small house salad with vinaigrette (5/5) and a large, pickled cucumber. I know, that's a pickle, but these are cucumbers that have gone maybe a third of the way through the process, so the cucumber taste is really prevalent. Lastly, we had the Creme Brulé (3/5) for dessert. It was nice, but the custard was coffee and caramel flavored, and we prefer the standard custard look and flavor. The caramel should come from the top layer, not the custard. The top layer was a bit too thick as well. We liked it, just didn't love it. Overall, quality food, service and vibe with prices that are aligned to more special occasions than everyday eating out. We'll be back to try the Monday Crawfish Etoufee and the Tuesday Duck Confit daily specials...look too good to pass up.

There is a covered attached patio that helps during their busy times (weekends). Even though they have gotten more popular, their service and food quality have not suffered one iota. Our food was brought out after a bit and it looked good. However, there were problems with both dishes. My wife's dish, advertised a Greek Yogurt was more like they scooped some Yoplait into the bowl instead. There was some fruit chunks, but not near enough to justify the $13 cost. She said the carved strawberry was the best part of the dish and the granola was good, but certainly did not taste homemade. My dish was barely warm, the beans were way too soupy, and I had asked for over-medium eggs, but they came over easy. I sent it back and told the server the dish was lukewarm and the eggs were not prepared as requested. She quickly came back with another plate that pretty much had the exact same issues. Lukewarm beans and potatoes and over-easy eggs. Rather than send it back again, I ate less than half and called it quits. Our bill came to ~$40 and it was probably worth less than half that. Another tidbit is that we had to ask twice for coffee refills. The place was not really busy either. Not sure why it gets 4+ stars because I struggle with giving it 2. Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

From the moment we arrived, the experience fell short. The live music should have added to the atmosphere, but the vocals were frequently off-key with an unpleasant, nasal quality that made the music more distracting than enjoyable. The beverage service was equally underwhelming. Water was served at room temperature without ice, and the beer arrived in a glass with a noticeable metallic, unclean odor that made me question whether the glass had been properly cleaned. We decided to order Cokes instead, only to find that soft drinks were available by the can rather than from a fountain. Unfortunately, the food did nothing to improve the experience. I ordered the Caribbean shrimp tacos, but the shrimp arrived barely warm and did not seem freshly prepared, so I sent the dish back rather than eat it. My wife's pasta was extremely bland and under-seasoned; she had to request salt and pepper just to give it some flavor. My friend ordered a burger, which appeared to be a basic frozen-style patty served on a plain white bun. Nothing about the meal reflected the level of quality we expected. Taken individually, some of these issues might have been easy to overlook. Taken together--the disappointing live entertainment, lackluster beverages, questionable glassware, and low-quality food--they made for an experience that simply wasn't worth the time or money. This was essentially our final dinner in Fredericksburg for the weekend, which made it particularly disappointing given how many enjoyable restaurants and wineries we experienced during our visit. I do want to give credit where it is deserved: despite everything else being well below expectations, the wait staff and manager were genuinely kind, professional, and apologetic about our experience. They listened to our concerns and ultimately comped the food because of the problems we encountered. I sincerely appreciated the way they handled the situation, and my criticism is not directed at the staff--the service and their response were easily the best part of the experience. Unfortunately, good service couldn't make up for the overall quality of the food and drinks. Based on our experience, I would not return and cannot recommend the restaurant.
