The food was very good here and I really appreciated how it tasted authentic; however, what had me a little taken aback was the guest service. When me and my first party had seated we had a wobbly table so we moved to another table that wasn't shaky. When the manager saw this he yelled at the waiter who was directing all the people to tables and I felt really bad for him because it wasn't his fault and to yell like that in front of all the customers is very embarrassing and rude. Also when we got our food this same manager just came and slid the food tray on our table and walked away as fast as he could. I get that the restaurant is busy but I think he could've at least asked if we needed anything else or at least looked like he wasn't angry and irritated. This is my favorite place to go for Indian street food- they have such great variety and so many vegetarian options to choose from. My top three are the grilled Chicago style honest sandwich, the Indian pizza, and the dabang dosa! They are so cheesy and flavorful and not too spicy. Honest indian restaurant is located in the strip mall right next to Patel Brothers. The dining area is fairly large, with numerous tables and booths. You go to the front counter and order from the menu there, and they bring the food out to you. I love all types of indian food, vegetarian, or meat, so I've had my fair share. I'll be honest with you (see what I did there?) The food itself is OK, but the customer service is really good. I have a tree nut allergy, meaning, I can have peanuts, but not cashews, almonds, pecans, etc. Honest Restaurant, although they are explicit, and there is a sign for peanut allergy, I thought I was good. I ordered the masala dosa, and luckily after getting my order, I asked (although I should have asked beforehand) and there apparently was cashews in it. I felt bad having to send back and reorder, but the people there were so nice about it. The people there were very accommodating and explained all the menu items, specifically, which didn't have any nuts in it. I ended up getting the Bhaji Pav, which out of most of the menu, didn't have any tree nuts. I never had Bhaji Pav and it was A-OK. The order came in this cardboard togo box thingy and came with two pieces of bread. Overall A-OK food. But extra star for the customer service. Well mixed with enough chutneys and dhai to make sure its not dry like many other places. This place can definitely get busy and crowded, especially on the weekends. HONESTly (couldn't help myself), words that best describe Honest are decent and consistent. Been here quite a few times now. Most of the employees are helpful and kind. They are quick to serve and clean up empty tables. The place is a little cramped. We were lucky as one of the employees accommodated our larger group by putting a "reserved" sign on a few tables as soon as people left. On a hot summer day, you can't go wrong with their dahi puri. This is my favorite item here as it is served ice cold. Its tangy, sweet, spicy, and satisfyingly crunchy. Their pav bhaji is very good. For those who are new to Indian food, specifically pav bhaji, think of it as vegetarian sloppy joe. I have heard complaints from my family that they don't give you enough pav (soft, buttered buns) per serving. Sorry guys, but their "pizza" can just barely be classified as pizza (thumbs down). Their dosas are okay. Their sambhar is not classic, its their unique version but it is tasty.
