Let's do a little.... W. O. R. D. P. L. A. Y. I hate to "bee" a "buzz" kill.... But this is gonna "sting". And to Honey Girl Cafe... If you haven't learned this lesson yet... "You catch more bees with honey than vinegar" ------------------------------- On our recent stay in the tiny town of Cayucos, my wife needed a little boost of coffee to get her day started off right. She went on Yelp and decided that she wanted to try Honey Girl Cafe. Sounds sweet right? Well, the service we received from here... Left me a bit "salty". Not sure what it was... But the staff seemed very unhappy and acted as if we had just poked their "beehive". C'mon Honey Girl... It's coffee, it was 10am and if you step outside your shop, you can literally see ocean... Why you gotta act like you're the "bee's knees". As far as your Honey Lavender Latte, it was decent... But your service made me want to "make a beeline" to the exit as soon as our drink was ready. If it was up to me, I would have just left as quick as we had walked in... But my Queen Bee wife needed her honey and no crap service from any worker bee was going to change the Queen's mind. Before I wrote this review, I was truly hesitant about even wasting my energy on this place so I decided to do a little further research into the honeycomb. Apparently, according to another Yelp reviewers, The Honey Girl has been naughty in the past and it seems that customer service just isn't their strong suit. Multiple reviews talk about the rude staff and issues arising from behind the counter... So I decided to add a little vinegar (my experience) to the honey pot. All in all, I wasn't impressed with this place and for me to go out of my way to leave a "bad" review means you really left a bad taste in my mouth. How does "Vinegar Girl Cafe" sound? Nah, not as catchy. As for how others customers, locals and tourists alike feel about this place... That's none of my Beeswax!! I Truly hope you have a better experience than mine. read more

I managed a deli for years and took pride in making delicious sandwiches for my customers. Seeing them come back time and time again was so satisfying. Well this establishment will not see me again. Just look at the pictures of my bagel sandwich. Bagel fell apart. The cucumber was so thick it flew out as I attempted to eat this mess. The cucumber and tomato was close to an inch thick WHY?. No mayo or cream cheese so it was dry. No seasoning which made it bland. Hubby ordered a BLT said it was ok which says a lot. It took them close to 15 minutes to make 2 sandwiches again WHY and to top it off it cost $26 for two sandwiches that I could of and should of made at home and would have been 10 times better and half the price. Lots of syrup flavor options as well-i've never seen the "almond" flavor before so i'll definitely be coming back to try that one! We wanted to grab breakfast while in town. We chose this place. We ordered coffee, cocoa, and breakfast sandwhiches. It's really cute with a few seats inside. It's clean and their are coffee and smoothies and a nice variety to choose from. Our breakfast babel and coffee and cocoa hit the stop. The staff was super friendly and we enjoyed our visit here. My husband and I wanted to grab some breakfast so stopped into Honey Girl Cafe. We shared a breakfast bagel sandwich (we chose ham and cheddar cheese - it's nice that you can pick what you want) and a lemon scone. Both were very good and hit the spot for what we were looking to have. I also had a Chai Tea Latte which was very tasty! We would definitely return when we are back in the area. After a multi day camping trip in Big Sur, the simple pleasure of eating a sandwich made by someone else was mine to enjoy. Imbued with that unmistakable Cayucos-elan, Honey Girl Cafe is small, unassuming, and a delightful find amidst a long row of decidedly touristy retail stores. Sure, you could pull off in Cayucos and purchase a couple of those yard pinwheels, a t shirt, or even a conglomerate of petrified sea creatures with Googley eyes affixed with glue. Or you could buy one of the best BLT sandwiches this side of your Great Aunt Mildred's kitchen table. It's a big sandwich, and definitely not a diet meal: huge slices of sourdough bread, just the right amount of Mayo, then slathered in avocado, and layered with butter lettuce, tomato slices, and more bacon than a guy in his 40s should eat in one sitting. Everything is made to order, and served with a smile. Despite the unseasonably hot weather (it was 101° when we passed through!), the staff was cheerful and kind to my kids. My Keto app said to lay off the bread, but I will not hesitate to stop here again the next time I find myself a little peckish on the 101 freeway. read more

Sunday 1035a to 1125a I would return. There is indoor and outdoor seating. With water for dogs and some treats. No masks were worn over the staff's faces (if that is one of those big concerns for you). I was greeted coming in. Not the friendliest greeting but still, they said, "Hi." Here I felt like a customer and not so much a guest. Like I wasn't welcome and at the same time I wasn't unwelcome (aka this is NOT Starbucks where the store lights up with your presence because all the baristas are smiling so brightly and their voices are so high the clouds clear. Yeah no, none of that here). It wasn't too busy at the time that I came in so I had time to stare at the menu and debate for a good 5 minutes (evaluating ).I was picked back up by the cashier as soon as I looked ready when I had finally decided on the Lox Bagel with no capers on the everything bagel which took about 5 minutes. It was sooooooo good. The salmon was very tender. I also decided on the lavender honey latte which took a whole: 2 minutes! Talk about fast. It had a good subtle taste. Not too sweet, with the lavander being more a smell than a taste. I could taste the honey. It was a pleasant simple drink. I recommend stirring it before drinking it in its entirety. And for those coffee buffs out there: they use Peet's Coffee brand. And they have milk substitutes available: almond, coconut, soy, and oat. There are a few tourist items to buy shirts and postcards that sort of thing. The store is clean. And the workers recite the menu quite well. read more

I'm from out of town and was looking for an omelette or sit down style breakfast place. I walked into Honey girl cafe and realized it was more of a coffee shop with light food. I asked if there was more sit down type restaurants near by. The woman at the cashier was friendly and warm. She didn't have suggestions and said maybe just walk more into town. The man (not sure if he is the owner?) making coffee in the back looked at me and said "Do you have a phone? Does it have internet? Do you know what google is?" It took me a minute to realized he was being mean and patronizing. I could feel his contempt as he spoke to me. It felt really bad and unnecessary. The coffee here is much better than the other establishments in town. The espresso is also fantastic. Attention to detail and love is what comes to mind when he makes your breakfast goodies and coffee. If we stay in Morro Bay, we drive here to get our coffee and breakfast bagels. A plain bagel with copious amounts of fresh avocado and a sprinkling of everything bagel spice blend is an excellent choice. read more

My first stop every morning on vacation. Great coffee, cheerful and quick staff. I get a black coffee and stroll the half block to the beach to enjoy it, walking along the sand. Maybe even all the way down to the pier. I'll get a scone too, and they'll warm it up so it's extra good as the chill off-season morning winds come off the ocean. There's tables too, if that's your mood, a couple seats at the bar inside which always seem to have a few local retirees reading the morning paper and chatting, and some outside tables popular with the tourists. On my way back after my walk, I pick up the more complicated orders for my family, so I can confirm they do just as well with fancy flavored oat milk lattes and salmon bagels as they do with oldschool black coffee. Come on down, listen to the locals gossip, listen to the waves as you sip your coffee, and relax. read more

A nice little Cafe, good for a nice light breakfast. The owner knows his stuff and cares about his customers and the food they make. Great coffee and the Almond Joy Moche is fabulous. Hot chocolate is great. The Bearpaw is one of the best I had, light sweet and great almond flavor. We had the egg bagel sandwich, spinach egg croissant and yogurt bowl, all of which were tasty and wonderful. The food comes out randomly, but worth the wait. They have some tables outside, and you can see the pier and hear the ocean. Nice and relaxing place for breakfast. read more

This is a great place to stop and get a bite, early morning or early afternoon. I love the coffee it is soooo good! I have had the muffins and cookies they are fresh and yummy! We absolutely loved our food from Honey Girl Cafe. The staff was very friendly and everyone was wearing masks and sanitizing the restaurant. I ordered the yogurt bowl which was super fresh and delicious. Yogurt, granola, blueberries, strawberries, bananas and honey. So so so good! The coffee (latte, white mocha) were the best in town. Tried again this trip hoping I could upgrade my review because I felt maybe they were having an off morning the last few visits, and boo... an even bigger fail. Coffee is weak, the Mexican mocha I loved so much at Top Dog was ...ooops! Just a regular latte, and barely lukewarm. And still not a friendly experience. I mean it's coffee!
