On a trip to meet with friends (nyc escapees) and they took us here for dinner. It's pretty tempted to move down here after this meal. Oh my goodness. I am so full that I can barely move. And it was only meal for 3 for 4 of us. Food isn't something they diss appoint you on. The grill meat and the side dishes will satisfy your every taste. I have tried a couple of Korean barbecue places, but this one is at the top of my list. Honey pig has the best quality meats and most variety. I also like how fresh the side dishes are, and they always give me a heaping serving of corn cheese (my weakness). They are grills are different from what I've seen before, but they make sure the meat is heated evenly. It was about $35 per person for all you can eat. Every penny was worth it. They have all sorts of different meats and flavors, which can satisfy anybody's taste buds. My favorite is garlic pork belly, beef bulgogi, and beef brisket. Honeypig is the first KBBQ experience I've ever had. A long time ago back in VA. There was definitely a sense of nostalgia heading her on Sunday. The decor in the front is full on different renditions of pigs, including custom tee shirts you can buy. So cute and cool! Once seated we decided to go with the all-you-can eat. The reason for this is if you want to select one meat ala carte , it only around $10 or so cheaper than the all-you-can eat. The grills are on very unique large cast iron lids. I have learned these are very prevalent in villages in Korea. The heat is dispersed very evenly and slowly which reduces burning of your food items. Where to start. The brisket and beef belly are thinly sliced very soft. Soft but not too fatty which I prefer but overall it's still very tasty. The regular pork belly is the better between beef and pork here in my opinion. Very thick cut but fatty to where it dissolves in your mouth like a wonderful bite of heaven clouds. The pan Chan includes mashed potatoes, bean sprouts you can grill which is my wife favorite part, and radish slices among some other things. The egg soufflé is fluffy and tasty, and included in the all-you-can eat. The corn cheese was ok nothing special not did they doll it up that way. Rice is unlimited. Overall, I gave 5 stars because it's as good as a KBBQ can reasonably be. We didn't have thick beef but the meats we did have don't get much better in quality maybe slightly more fat on the brisket and beef belly but that's it. Not enough to drop a whole star. Service was impeccable and friendly. Environment was chill and not too loud. I will definitely visit again, can't beat this classic. read more

Recently I went with my husband and we just missed lunch for $24.99 per person AYCE, and since it was just me and him, we just got two meats and shared. I'm glad we did that instead! Each meat cost around $20 and we were stuffed walking out. There was plenty of banchan and items that came with our meal that consisted of salad, radish, rice paper, sauces, lettuce wraps, rice, cheese corn, egg fluff, kimchi soup, jalapeños, kimchi, and mung beans. The portions of the meats could have been a little bit more considering you're paying $20 each but I guess since you get all the extras included--you're really paying for that as well. Garlic pork belly was a great choice. You could taste the marinated pork and I like mine a little bit charred so he left it on the burner a little longer for me. Bulgolgi came out inside a tin foil and had too much juice it seemed to just boil the meat rather than cook it more dryer like the pork was cooked. It was fine though, we still ate it no issues. The foods tasted low quality and not fresh. Meats and squid was not good. Unappetizing. Once you take a bite, you don't want to eat anymore. Made me nauseous. The rice paper was old, dry, rubbery. To make you lose your appetite even more, they have posters of food in the bathroom. The chopsticks were heavy and they are not rounded edges; the flat edges made them hard to use. Tongs were hard to press together and make your hand tired and sore. They only offer basic options like brisket, pork belly, bulgogi and charge $40 for dinner. To summarize, we were there for a little over an hour and a half & had 4 servings of meat. I typically have that the first 20-30 minutes of being at a KBBQ joint. Honey Pig was featured on the Travel Channel as the best Korean BBQ in Atlanta. I knew I had to try it and it just so happens that my Korean friend wanted to come here for lunch. Perfect timing! The restaurant is open and spacious with round tables placed throughout the restaurant. The waiters are very stylish and look like K-Pop stars, plus they are nice and provided great service. My friend was well-versed on the menu so she ordered the sides and the meat selection. I enjoyed trying the kimchi and potato sides. The bulgogi was definitely my favorite meat, perfectly marinated and rich in flavor. The last time I visited Honey Pig was roughly 5 years ago... and I know that there was a lot of talk about how much it had went downhill - a primary reason why I didn't visit. I completely forgot about its existence, but my friend and I were craving KBBQ on a Saturday night, and we wanted to go somewhere pretty quiet, so we thought Honey Pig would be the perfect place. Contrary to our thoughts, the place actually had a wait. It wasn't too bad - roughly 15-20 minutes. We were seated, and we decided to get the AYCE A, which was $38.99. Comes with brisket, bulgogi, pork butt, marinated pork butt, pork belly, garlic pork belly, gochujang pork belly, soybean paste pork belly, wine pork belly, gopchang, daechang, spicy squid and more. They also give complimentary corn cheese, soybean paste stew, salad and steamed egg souffle. We also got a somaek tower, which comes with one bottle of soju and 4 beers mixed in a huge tower. A unique aspect of Honey Pig is that they use a pot lid shaped grill (the only one in ATL KBBQ world actually) and it's WIDE, allowing them to grill a lot of meat at a time. They also have BOMB kimchi and they grill that for you too - it's actually one of the best kimchi I had in my life. I was so surprised to see that their brisket was NOT FROZEN. Something RARE to see in the AYCE world! The brisket was very good. Perfect and chewy and cooks fast. We also ordered an order of pork belly, garlic pork belly, wine pork belly, marinated pork butt and daechang. I've always noticed this about Honey Pig, but their seasoning tends to be on the lighter side. Even for the marinated pork bellies, it was lighter - that doesn't mean it's bad, I actually really liked it (and pairs great with their sesame oil salt) and it makes me think that this place caters to Korean people fresh off the boat. Despite this, when I visited, it looked like the restaurant was half Korean guests and half foreigner guests. The pork bellies were amazing too. The marinated pork butt was actually really tender and very good. This was one of the best marinated pork butt I've tried in my life. Daechang was OK - not the best. It wasn't very flavorful. You have to really dip it in the salt sauce to have some flavor. Because it's so chewy, once you suck out all the salt flavor, it becomes bland again but then again, all the other meats were so good. Our server was on top of things, making sure we were taken care of. She made sure our banchans were refilled, our sauces were refilled and she was extremely kind despite the busy night they were having. After being homesick, I was really happy to find an AYCE KBBQ restaurant. When we arrived, a server told us that there would be ~20 minute wait although there were multiple open tables. After waiting, we were finally seated and ordered. The grill was legit according to my korean coworker. Our server brought us various banchan and immediately started placing kimchi (the sour variant) and bean sprouts onto the grill. The meat came and what was cool was that the servers essentially cook the food for you. They'll cut the pork belly and place the meat onto the grill for you. Additionally, they'll place bulgogi items in an aluminum boat so it won't cause the grill to burn. Overall, all the items were good. I highly recommend the bulgogi and gochujang pork belly. At the end of the meal, you can also request the servers to put rice onto the grill and essentially make kimchi fried rice in front of you which is cool! Overall, Honey Pig is a great place but the only thing that prevented me from rating them 5-stars was the service. We eat here every chance we get. The food is always packed with flavor. My favorite is the squid - that sauce! I could eat the sauce alone with rice, egg, and corn cheese and be quite contented! The bulgogi is very delicious, so is the Honey Pig signature. I have not tried anything here that I did not enjoy. Every time family comes to visit, I bring them here so that they can get addicted too. As for the cons, as a small business owner, I completely understand staffing issues. Depending on what time you go, they might be limited. Do not be afraid to turn the meat if you see it starting to get a bit crispy. Atmosphere/service: parking is easy as it's located in a plaza with a large lot. They have booth seating as well as just general tables. They use a gas fired grill - unique point is that they're grill top is a large pot lid. The surface area is pretty huge which means you can fit a lot of food on there! Service wise I think was a bit disappointing. I definitely understand short staffing but when we arrived we were the only party there and yet it took 30-45 minutes for us to receive our first meat order. As time progressed it did get better. Food/price: weekend is dinner pricing only FYI. They do provide complimentary steamed egg, corn cheese and soybean paste soup but it's a limit to two per table (no matter how many people are at the table which doesn't seem fair to me). Their side dishes include radish, spicy cucumber, fish cake and they do bring kimchi and bean sprouts. We asked for our kimchi and bean sprouts to not be put on the grill so that we could just do that ourselves. You get three sauce options: ssamjang (soy bean paste mix), sesame oil with salt, and a hot chili dip I didn't use. - Meats: they have two options (A and B) - we chose the one with the most because it had brisket on there. It's about 2 hr limit for it. But tbh they give extra time because it does be crowded. I love that you can grill it yourself or they will do it for you.. the Banchan is always fresh. My favorite combination you should try would be the following, lettuce kimchi pork belly garlic and a dab of Ssamjang close the lettuce and put the whole thing into your mouth for one big bite! We literally eat at Korean BBQ every week and so we are pretty familiar with how it works and we don't mind cooking the food ourselves, but sitting there being left alone without anyone helping us with anything we needed as far as sauce, and other sides. We just didn't feel welcome at all. And we literally saw our server maybe 3 times....only to come in the end to ask how it was. We asked for eggs for my daughter and we signed our check and everything and still nothing came. So we left....We smiled and still gave 20%+ tip, but honestly. It was the worst service and experienced ever..and we left without my daughter getting the egg she asked for. It was disappointing! So unfortunately, I have to give them 1 star. If 0 o would.. Obviously, if you know Korean BBQ, you know how it works and it's just like all the others. So obviously, they give you the meat choices, the variety of side dishes, and of course the drink choices just like all the others. What sets Honey Pig apart from the rest is the type of dishes they offer and the method of cooking is vastly different from the others which set Honey Pig apart from all the other places. The most glaring difference is the cooking method. While sure, the other places use charcoal and an open flame style cooking method, Honey Pig cooks on what appears to be Captain America's shield! It looks like a cast iron lid and this is the exciting this. First off, the server places kimchee and sprouts around the edge of the shield and then with whatever meat you choose, it's placed in the center. All that fat that's rendered off then seeps into the kimchee and sprouts and cooks that stuff. Genius! I saw this method of cooking on a Youtube channel before but have not seen it in action in real life so when I found this place, I knew I had to try it!!! Also, the sides. It's basic Korean but other places do not serve it as they give you the fermented soybean stew, corn cheese, and other basic amenities. But the show stopper here is the shield they use to cook the meat on! This place is great for large parties and accommodates the small 2 person parties as well! Highly recommend this spot but come hungry and order wisely as the meat is the most important part and they have variety and some of the cuts should only be reserved for the adventurous as pork skin and beef intestines (large and small) are the "nasty bits" you may not want but worth getting because, ignorance is not bliss and frankly, the nasty bits also contain some of the healthiest vitamin and nutrient content you will need so... At any rate, Honey Pig is a 5-star place for me and while pricey, you should be hungry before coming here because you will need to get your money's worth but they give you quality and quantity! read more
