The kind of place you smell before seeing. Flavors were creative and scrumptious. They have dairy free options and sorbet, too. One flavor on my visit was called 'Holy Cannoli', complete with chunks of ricotta. So neat! I settled on a cone of the hazelnut and sat outside pretending I was in Italy. A very friendly, clean, and upbeat gelato spot - I'll definitely be popping back in to see what new flavors are on tap!

I'm also happy to see a new business in the Oxbow! But, tho I'll give it another chance soon, I wasn't really happy with the Roman Holiday scoops. The flavors were fine and the density was similar to other gelatos, but I found it to be very sticky and gooey -- more like cake frosting than ice cream -- rather than creamy and milky. In fact there was no sense of dairy terroir at all, which is really one of the things that I look for and truly enjoy in a local ice cream or gelato. I'll give it another shot since I live around the corner. Will update here if I get a better impression.

Good as in an Asian guy saying that it's not that sweet but lots of ube flavor good! The cotton candy had a good taste of cotton candy with a little spice kick at the end. Both totally enjoyable! Service is fast and friendly. The owners saw us with kids and they offered an extra cookie for the little ones. Totally family friendly! The space is open with tables and a couch in the corner. It is 100% worth it to come by here and try their gelato. They have other options as well such as the strawberries with Dubai chocolate but that will have to be for another day!

First time, and a while since we'd been at a gelato place, many of our favorites having closed their doors. I also was curious how it would compare to our super premium ice cream haunts. Lots of flavors! You can get two flavors in a small cup ($8.99) - my wife chose a combo of ube and espresso. I went with chocolate and salted caramel. Although not cheap, the cup was packed with a generous amount. There's a decent amount of seating - and our parking spot had one hour before it turned into a pumpkin - so we could relax and enjoy the gelato. Wow, this is the real thing! Made fresh daily, obviously with quality ingredients. My Filipino wife loves her Ube, but has a hard time finding some that meets her standards. She loved this ube gelato - continually commenting on its creaminess. Her espresso gelato had that nice coffee-infused zing. My chocolate gelato was amazing, and the salted caramel wasn't bad either. This place definitely gives that super premium ice cream a run for the money - and that's saying something. We'll be sure to return.

The shop itself is tiny, with just a couple of small tables outside, so plan on taking your treats to go rather than settling in. We went with the flight, which is a fantastic way to sample the menu: 3-4 flavors for $10 (as of August '26), which is a great value considering a single half scoop runs $4.50 on its own. It was plenty to split between two adults and a kid. We tried the peanut butter M&M, a-lota-choco-lata, salted caramel, and butter brickle (a butter pecan base loaded with toffee brittle) and all four were excellent. They also offer sorbet and vegan options, so there's something for everyone in the group. For the price and quality, this is a great choice if you're wandering the plaza and want something sweet.

Staff were delightful when we visited. I had the coffee ice cream, which was absolutely delicious. A great sweet finisher to our stay in Sonoma.

Thanks to an acquaintance who told me about Caravaggio Gelato, we checked it out when a family member was visiting from out of town. It was a treat to be served directly by the gelatiere artigiano who crafts the recipes. Among us three, we tried 4 flavors. We spotted the Gianduja (Hazelnut & Chocolate) later, and it will be on the list for the next visit. * Piedmont Hazelnut (Nocciola del Piemonte): The overall favorite--rich, creamy, and nutty. * Orange Blossom Honey: Our guest's top pick from the regular menu. He exclaimed, beaming, at least three times how good that flavor was! * King Pluot: One of the special flavors of the day, the gelato captured the taste of summer - bright, sweet, and refreshing. * Black Sesame: I was curious how black sesame would taste in gelato, and I was not disappointed - the flavor was deep and earthy, made with Japanese sesame seeds. There may be a dozen gelato and ice cream shops in Berkeley, but Caravaggio is where you'll relish the science and art of gelato making.

I recommend sharing a triple scoop because that's cheaper than buying 2 singles. I think gelato at this price is unheard of in the bay area, let alone in Blackhawk/Danville of all places. I guess the rent isn't too bad because the place is small, but it is nice and the service is really good too! Definitely will be back! I'm actually no longer as surprised at the stellar ratings. I mean 4.9 star average is still insane, but I'd expect nothing less than 4.5-4.7 to be honest. I like the pistachio, biscoff, cookies and cream, stracciatella, vanilla, and dubai chocolate flavors. The waffle cone is included in the price so make sure to specifically ask for it, I made the mistake of not specifying and it would be 50 cents on the side (probably due to sharing, the single scoop is $5.99 and the triple scoop is $7.99)
