Service is fast and friendly. The owners saw us with kids and they offered an extra cookie for the little ones. Totally family friendly! The space is open with tables and a couch in the corner. Near downtown Concord one weekday afternoon my wife had an ice cream craving - that's how we ended up at Milano Gelato. First time, and a while since we'd been at a gelato place, many of our favorites having closed their doors. I also was curious how it would compare to our super premium ice cream haunts. Lots of flavors! You can get two flavors in a small cup ($8.99) - my wife chose a combo of ube and espresso. I went with chocolate and salted caramel. Although not cheap, the cup was packed with a generous amount. There's a decent amount of seating - and our parking spot had one hour before it turned into a pumpkin - so we could relax and enjoy the gelato. Wow, this is the real thing! Made fresh daily, obviously with quality ingredients. My Filipino wife loves her Ube, but has a hard time finding some that meets her standards. She loved this ube gelato - continually commenting on its creaminess. Her espresso gelato had that nice coffee-infused zing. My chocolate gelato was amazing, and the salted caramel wasn't bad either. Came for gelato this evening as a weekend treat and I don't feel compelled to return. The cups are majorly expensive ($10 for a small). Considering the luxe price the rest of the experience was not. Gelato was fluffy, not so much creamy almost a marshmallow consistency and almond tasted like extract. The person who rang me up didn't look up at me when taking my order or speaking to me. The bathrooms could use some attention. Mop the floors and dust the vent, restock paper towels, put an air freshener, etc. Unfortunately, this place does not justify the price tag. read more

We parked in front of Milano and saw the picture of their viral final chocolate strawberry cup and just was so inviting we decided to come in and try it. We lucked out and had the place to ourselves. Sept 2 2024 I read mostly good reviews on Yelp and we have been searching for a gelato shop so off we drove. A special trip from Crockett specifically to eat at Milano. Pretty impressive that they make the product they sell in house daily. The banana split we shared was a little on the small side but tasty. We may have size envy from eating at Fenton's too many times. They won't serve you water in a cup and they were out of bottled water so $13 for the split and $3 for a Jarritos soda. The employee was friendly and business seemed brisk with several customers following us in. The walls and doors wouldn't complain if someone with a sponge mop gave them a wipe down. The seat next to me had dried gelato on it and the waste basket needs a solution to open it without smearing gelato on the lid. I asked for a taste of their signature Afghanistan gelato dish but was told I would need to buy the dish with the rose water etc in order to taste it à la Nancy Pelosi in 2010: "We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it." Strawberry and Mango Sorbetto: I first want to say that the gentleman who helped me answered all of my questions and was super helpful. He was very patient when I was not sure what I wanted and was very caring in his approach to me. Anyway, the mango flavor was very strong. I love mango, so this hit the spot for me. It was very smooth and not icy at all. The Strawberry was more subtle, but still packed a flavorful punch. I really enjoyed how the gelato was not overwhelming and the texture was perfect. The sweetness level wasn't overwhelming and the gelato still felt "light" when you're taking the first taste spoonful. There was a definitely a texture difference between gelato and ice cream. Ice cream is a lot creamier and smoother and gelato is a lot lighter and has a "coarser" taste but in a good way. The dulce de leche tasted exactly like caramel despite not looking anything like caramel. Delicious. Banana - I liked this one out of the two flavors I got. The dude and I came to Milano's Ice Cream on 12/26/21 in Concord, Ca. The dude wanted to take me to a "Princess Place" so I can have a princess day meaning a day where he doesn't do the most ! Anyways, we showed up around 2:45pm and the doors were locked :( totally bummed out as we initially thought they were closed. A young man runs to the door and we ask if they are open and he says "Yes, I forgot to unlock the door. Sorry I was making ice cream". The dude asked him what time they open and he said 2pm!!! WOW they left their doors locked on accident for nearly almost an hour. Losing business this way. But we were their first customer of the day! But it was dirty and not fully stocked :( it needed attention. The inside is absolutely spacious with a few tables nothing fancy. The best part about this place is the GELATO!! And it should be!! After consuming some hot wings, I decided I needed something cold to balance it all off. Finally got an opportunity to try this place - really happy that Todos Santos in downtown concord is diversifying with a lot of new food spots. The person who helped us was very friendly and he really made us feel welcome. The gelato is made on-site and is very fresh and tasty. Thankfully you're allowed to have samples and tried his recommendations. We had the mango and the Italian.
