My wife bought me my favorite piece of pie, Banana Cream. She heard good things about their pies. She brought it home and surprised me with it. 1st thing is $19.59 for 2 pieces of pie. REALLY!!! 2nd thing was that it was the Most bland Banana cream pies I have EVER tasted. The whip cream had zero powered sugar in it. The pudding had no vanilla flavor to it. It also had very little Banana slices in it. Plus I think that they added Banana chips (dehydrated). Final take is WAY Over Priced and the worst piece of pie I have ever had. I didn't think you could mess up Banana Cream pie, Honeypie has achieved that. read more

The cream pies are better in my opinion, but that could also be because they have many more options. The chai pie is subtle, light, and delicious! This time we came in person and the banana pie my husband got was good but nothing special. My almond joy pie was amazing with different flavors, textures, and levels of sweetness throughout it was perfect! This was our first time trying their food and I'm annoyed with myself for not trying it sooner! I got the short rib melt that was packed with delicious and tender meat and cheese with perfectly crispy bread. The fries were also perfectly salty and crispy. We went for a late lunch on a Saturday. Service was great. I had the pesto chicken salad and my husband chose the pork belly bahn mi. Do not sleep on this place. Just don't. The restaurant is beautiful and it's warm and inviting, but let's be real - I came here for pie, and I left a changed person. The salted caramel pie was out of this world. I love cream cheese-based pies in general, but I melted in my seat with every bite. There was definitely salt in the pie, probably more than any pie I had ever tasted, and it not only worked as a flavor combo, but the salt totally accentuated the creamy caramel filling and whipped cream. But the ultimate surprise of this pie was how the salted caramel actually accentuated the crumbly sweet crust even more. It was kind of a reversal of flavors and every ounce of the pie was a gift from the gods. The black bottom banana cream pie was equal parts amazing - from the banana slices and how they melted into the creamy vanilla custard to the chocolate custard and the crispy chocolate chips. The graham crust added another surprising element to the pie, all of which came together in my happy mouth. Finally, I had to try the chai cream pie. I love chai spices and it was the perfect flavor combination to bring into a pie. The custard melts in your mouth while your brain can't stop thinking, "why is this the first time I'm trying chai spices in a pie? this goes together like... cinnamon and nutmeg!" Oh my god. Visited Milwaukee a month ago and was told to check out Honeypie. My partner and I bussed from downtown and had the intention of hanging out in Bayview for the day. We got to Honeypie around 10am on a weekday. It was so good I could cry. What we ordered: hot tea, lemonade, ham biscuit, and the honeypie burger. Lord. I'm still thinking about this meal. It was UNREAL. Pics and videos don't do it justice. Just mentally picture two plates that are meaty, buttery, cheesy, eggy. Every single bite was perfect. The burger was the for sure winner of this meal. But my biscuit gave it a run for its money! Could not even eat half of this meal and had to get boxes, but that's just more for later!!! We asked the server if she thought we had a good chance of taking home a key lime pie, not a slice, my dudes, a whole ass pie. She came back and told us there were three key lime pies in the fridge, so we'd be good. I have zero shame in saying we came back later in the day and brought our pride and joy, a key lime pie with us to our hotel. I was sunburnt and the only thing to cheer me up was pie. This area of Milwaukee is cute, and the surrounding homes are cute and quirky. I stopped in here just for pie, but it's a full-service restaurant. When you walk inside Honeypie and turn right, you can see all the pies in the counter. Wow, these are some thick pies! I got a slice of Almond Joy. I would describe the pie as follows: whipped cream on top with shredded coconut, next layer was custard-like with shredded coconut, followed by a brownie-like bottom layer, and topped on a graham cracker crust. Needless to say, it was delicious. I only had a few bites as of this writing. I don't even want to know how many calories are in a slice. :) No idea if the other food is any good, so this review is just for the pie. read more

It's been a few years since we've been to Honeypie, so when we had some out of town guests who wanted to check it out for brunch, I was pleasantly surprised to find it was better than I remembered! Honeypie is a Bay View staple, however in the past I have felt like it was a little overrated...always a long wait with no option to make a reservation, a little pricey for what you get, etc...but this visit has me wanting to go back soon! We signed up on their waitlist after walking in around 11AM on a Saturday, and we were told about 25 minutes. Our wait time was accurate, and they now have a system to text you when your table is ready, as well as an online wait list you can view. Much better than the old way of the paper list sign-up and trying to squish your party near the bar to get a Bloody Mary while you wait. We ended up on the patio, which was perfect for a nice summer day and a great atmosphere. I started off with the Bloody Mary with jalapeno-infused vodka which was excellent. The pickled jalapenos were a nice touch and the Bloody was the perfect amount of jalapeno without being super spicy. I ordered the Ham Biscuit plus a side of potatoes, my significant other chose the Breakfast Casserole, and our dining companions went with the Biscuits and Gravy. All of the food was excellent - everyone enjoyed their meals. I really didn't need the side of potatoes as the biscuit was so big, but the potatoes were great. I could go on about the biscuit though - probably the best biscuit I've ever had. So. Delicious. Flaky, buttery, perfectly cooked, and nicely balanced with the ham and cheese. I want to go back soon just to order it again. I tried some of the Breakfast Casserole as well, which was also delicious, if a little on the salty side. We had a great brunch at Honeypie, and the next time we have an excuse to get brunch, I will definitely be voting we return! As the name clearly suggests, pies are their self proclaimed thing. This is definitely a local haunt for the area with an eclectic mix of patrons! The food is often very good but often very inconsistent. Sometimes it's on point, but often it's just off noticeably seasoning or heat wise. Just flat some times. Again as the name suggests, pies are their thing but they too are often hit or miss. The serves are often off the mark on what is or isn't available which can be a bit frustrating when you're jonesing for whatever, are told, yep, two slices coming up, but alas, they've been out for awhile. We like coming here because it's honest and authentic, not trying to be something more than it is. It is real people, working honestly to deliver to their best ability for real people. It's a refreshing take considering how processed and homogeneous dining feels most everywhere else. Pies here are so good!! My sister and I had a slice of the honey salted pie and the Milwaukee mud pie (oreo, fudge, and chocolate). Honeypie is one of our favorites. I've been trekking down to Bay View so much the last few years that we finally moved and we're just a few blocks away from Milwaukee's best pie. Salted Honey pie is my absolute favorite and it's always on the menu. My partner is less dedicated and has tried everything. He loves their fruit pies, their double chocolate pie, and my dad LOVES their cherry pie. Besides pie, their new location is gorgeous and the food is awesome. Their servers are so nice and I'm pretty sure they're one of the restaurants in the city that pays their staff well, so it reflects in the good service you get. I know this is a hot spot in Bay View and people love it. It's pretty small inside and always busy, so they are doing well. I personally never had to wait too long and usually sit at the bar where I can be seated pretty quickly. Service has always been great! The waitresses and bartenders are prompt and friendly. Hands down to the service and cute decor. There is a pretty chill and fun vibe while sitting at the bar. The food is okay in my opinion. I tried the pork belly scramble with caramelized onions, pork belly, cheese and spinach. It came with roasted potatoes and sour dough toast. On my deathbed, I hope to be surrounded by my family, friends, and a Honeypie Cookies & Cream pie. I cannot get over how creamy and delicious it was, and my only regret is that I did not discover it sooner. The wait for a party of 2 to be seated on the patio for Sunday brunch was about an hour, so we decided on takeout. The surrounding area has many cool shops, though, so if we had more time we definitely would've explored the area and waited for an open table. Ordering takeout was quick and easy. This review is specifically for the pie and not for the rest of their menu. If I'm in the area, I always come in for pie! I normally like to eat my pie at the bar, warmed up with a scoop of ice cream. Their pie menu changes daily, there is no set schedule. I would come in early in the evenings on the weekends for the best selection as a lot of their pies will be sold out. If you're craving a specific flavor, I suggest calling ahead of time to see what's available. The blueberry citrus was wonderful warmed up and had a crumbly top that added the perfect texture when melted with the ice cream. A recommendation if you like blueberries with a lemon zest. My all time favorite pie is their white chocolate cream pie. I have not seen it in rotation for a long time but I was able to order it for my birthday.
