We've been to many of the breakfast spots on this particular block of Encinitas. This was the last one we wanted to try and stopped there before heading onward. Honey's Bistro was a nice place. You ordered at the counter and found a nice table to wait for your food. I went for the eggs and potatoes and my girlfriend stuck with lunch and had a wrap with fries. It was good food and a nice day outside. I'd definitely tell people to come by. read more

I'm a sucker for a good breakfast, especially when they have an al fresco dining option. Honey's was good, there was a line but plenty of seating options. It's order and pay at the cashier then they bring out the food to you. Nice patio seating area that's puppy friendly and spacious right off the 101. I was overloaded by their menu but in a good way. They literally have something for everyone which is wonderful, except when you don't know what you want to order. I love asparagus and Benedicts are my go to so veggie Benedict it was! It didn't take too long to come out and when it did, it was beautiful. Unfortunately our order wasn't right, my friend ordered fruit vs potatoes, I asked for hollandaise on the side, it was served on and both of our potatoes were very well done, but all in all, it was a tasty meal. read more

There are a few breakfast/brunch spots around this area that are worth a visit and Honey's is definitely one of them. The vibes are modern and clean, with good food and friendly service. While they have both inside and outside seating, as well as taking over the establishment next door, this place gets busy and you'll often see a line out the door. I got a hazelnut latte to start and while it was definitely tasty, it was a tad sweet for me (I absolutely don't have a sweet tooth). We ordered the chilaquiles with verde sauce and the lobster eggs benedict. While both were pretty good, I'd say there wasn't anything that was amazing. I did love the verde sauce and the tortilla chips they used, however, when the food was served to us the chips were already soggy. The lobster tasted so good and the potatoes served with it were crispy and well seasoned. It may just be a me-thing, but overall I didn't love the texture of the lobster on this egg benedict. They have a pretty expansive menu and I'd love to come back next time and try a few other items when we visit SD. Overall a great place and it is definitely well-loved by locals and visitors. Honey's is my Goto breakfast place when I'm looking for that special flare. A place that isn't the same o same o breakfast lineup. The vegetarian omelette is awesome along with the asparagus omelette. Simply amazing!! Every bite melts in the mouth. I tell all my friends and every one of them said they loved the food. This review is primarily based on the chilaquiles, which were not to my taste. I specifically requested no onions but still received them plus had kale or some leafy green in the verde sauce. It was spicier than expected as well. Saying that, my mom had the two egg breakfast and loved it and I appreciated the friendly and efficient service. An indoor party left so we were able to snag an inside table instead of braving the cold outside. read more

Decided to come here for brunch with my girls. I've heard about to online and seen so much hype. I'm gonna start off with the good: The place is really good for big group and a chill, laid back outing. The location is fun too, there is lots of places to shop afterwards. I also liked that they had a big menu, so it's perfect for those who aren't too sure what they're feeling, or picky/ light eaters. Now the not so great: As a coffee lover, the coffee just wasn't it I got the lobster Benny and it was okay. My friends felt the same about their food, pretty basic overall. I was expecting a lot more from all the hype I seen online and based on the prices of certain things. That said, the drinks and mimosas looked really good, so I'd come back for those if I'm in the area. I rate it a 3 just because it wasn't the best but it also wasn't the worst read more

On a main street in Encinitas, it's not uncommon to see a long line. I got here around 11:30, and placed my order just after 12:00, so the line can be a bit slow. The ordering process is very fast-casual with ordering at the counter and having things brought to your table. The space inside is nice, but seating is limited and may be difficult since you can't reserve a seat. We ended up having to sit at one of their outdoor tables fully in the sun, as they only cover the larger tables with umbrellas. The mimosas were very cute, and the food did come out pretty quickly for us. My friend did not have any complaints about the chilaquiles aside from it having kale. I was very disappointed in my order. I ordered the steak eggs Benedict with a fruit cup for the side. On delivery, there were two napkins under the fruit cup and both were dirty/looked used. The steak itself was cooked fine, but large fat caps were left on which resulted in very unpleasant bites. I took off about 2oz of fat from the 8oz portion they state on their menu. The eggs were cooked well, but shell was somehow left in the poached eggs; I had a few bites where I crunched down unexpectedly. read more

Their brunch is so good! I can see why there is a line out the door! My friend got a Chai tea, while I opted for a hot chocolate. They added whipped cream and little flowers to my drink. We also got a couple of mocktails and they were both so beautifully decorated and so refreshing. For food, we shared the smoked salmon bagel and lox and red velvet waffles. Their presentation is on point! My waffles tasted as good as it looked. Too bad they are so far from me because I would definitely frequent this place if they were closer. read more

My friend and I love eating here when we're in the area - it's our go to breakfast spot: You go up to the register and order and they bring the food to you. The servers are warm and welcoming. It's a cute little restaurant along the 101, with large open windows, ceiling fans and a touch of plants here and there. Their avocado toast and ABC breakfast croissant are delicious! We never finish either because you get so much for what you pay for, which is great. The croissant is soft and flaky and the avocado inside as well as on the toast was perfectly ripe. The side of fruit is pretty good, I just wish the honeydew I've gotten in the past was a little sweeter. Besides that, Ive always been pretty content with whatever I get. They have to-go containers/bags, water glasses and a water dispenser out for convenience too. I can't wait to visit again! read more

I didn't realize it was fast casual service before coming up and realizing I needed to decide what I wanted while waiting in line. Decent amount of seating since they utilize a big space outside even though inside is pretty small. If you want water, it's coming out of spout from a bucket. Coffee was self serve as well. I got the abc croissant sandwich and it seemed like the already buttery pastry had more butter added to it to get toasty. The corned beef hash didn't look anything like fresh/homemade but resembled canned meat instead. The fruit was actually the best part! Super fresh and delicious. Nothing tasted bad at all. We enjoyed our meal. But this place is way overhyped and I'll be trying other spots out when I'm in this area. read more

Dropped by a few days ago on our way to San Diego for the weekend. At first I wasn't too fond of waiting in line, ordering my food and drink and sitting down but it was prompt service! The food was delicious, i had the chorizo scramble and my partner enjoyed the abc sandwich. A lot of parking is offered near this restaurant since there's so much to do around encenitas. Chilaquiles were ok. The sauce wasn't so flavorful and chips got soggy underneath.. definitely not my go to. Benedict was pretty good. Pancakes were great, pretty standard. Steak was flavorful and tender. I would say overall pretty good but would choose somewhere else for higher quality for the same price. read more

I am very surprised that I have left a review previously as this is one of our go to places for breakfast. We typically walk the Cardiff coastal rail trail and then end up here for breakfast. They have multiple options and are very flexible to switch things up. Our go to is the chilaquiles and breakfast veggie quesadillas. Both super delicious. And don't forget their coffee. It is so so good. Their service is great. Stop by and you won't regret! read more

My wife and I came here for brunch and really enjoyed the upbeat vibes. Good music, good energy, good vibes. It's an order and sit type of spot and for how big the line was, we had no problem finding a spot to sit. We ordered a bottle of champagne for the mimosas (mango, orange,cranberry) all very good. After being seated by the host, order at the counter, and some almost-too-young-to-not-be-in-school surfer kids will bring out your order relatively fast. I do enjoy this spot the couple times Ive been. Standard brunch fair. Mimosas etc. First visit had a straight fwd breakfast. Second time had an atrocious reuben, so definitely avoid that at all costs. Coffee is good. Service is nice. Line can get intimidatingly long but usually moves quickly. Occasionally after a long rough shift, my coworkers and I will drop by here for breakfast, since we work night shift and get off during breakfast time. Service has always been absolutely delightful everytime we've been here. The staff is so accommodating and welcoming. The decor of the restaurant is trendy and overall, they provide such a welcoming and cozy atmosphere to unwind in. Food has always been on point everytime we've been here. Very tasty and comforting, with big portions that provide a second meal for many of us. We recently decided to try their mimosas and our server presented the juice in such an aesthetically pleasing way too. Overall, I can't recommend this place enough. We got brunch here after our hike. You wait to order and then take a number and seat yourself. The interaction we had with the staff was super limited. The girl who took our order was helpful and nice but nothing extraordinary, didnt expect it to be either. We sat on the patio which was really nice. We got 2 omelets. Both of them were good, a tiny bit too wet for my liking but the flavors were great. Fruit was fresh. They have tons of options on their menu and that's something I appreciate at any establishment. Overall, it was a nice experience and although it wasnt anything amazing I would still come back to try their other options. read more

Having said that, it was an extremely generous portion so he was filled up. While I didn't try it, our friend that had the chorizo hash also said it was okay so I'm guessing the ratio wasn't quite right. Anyways, ask for their chili sauce on the side, that's actually quite surprising. It had really good heat and was more like a chili crisp than a vinegary hot sauce. The plates that did score favorably at the table were the carne chilaquiles and the divorced eggs.

It was in what looked like slices of Texas Toast bread. The food was good and glad we didn't give up on the parking situation. They are still cash-only and thankfully an ATM inside. I recently visited this restaurant with a couple of specific things in mind: their gluten-free options and breakfast. Parking was a bit tricky since it's street parking, but luckily, we found a spot a street down. When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't too busy, and we were told to order at the counter, pay and choose our own seating. The staff member at the counter let us know that water and a selection of coffee were available to help ourselves to. I ordered the gluten-free pancakes (which you can get in a 1 or 3-pancake stack) with a side of eggs and my husband went for the Ruben with fries. We didn't order any drinks, just water, and our total came out to about $31, which seemed decently priced. The food took about 15-20 minutes to arrive, and I was pleasantly surprised by the pancakes--they were actually pretty good. My husband, however, felt the slices of corned beef on his Ruben were a bit too thick, making them harder to chew but still tasted good. The experience, unfortunately, didn't leave much of a lasting impression. Service could use improvement--while the girl at the counter was ringing us up, she spent the rest of her time sitting at a booth chatting with another person, and no one came by to check if we needed anything. I felt bad for the one man who was running around cleaning tables, bringing out food, and taking care of everything while she sat idly by. Overall, while the food was decent, the lack of attention to service left a bad taste. I'm not sure I'd be eager to come back based on this experience. read more

The cashier was really rude. I normally love this place. But he was so unpleasant it really turned me off. I went in for an espresso and ordered a latte. He proceeded to just stare at me and raise his eyebrows. I asked for the total and he asked if I had ever had a latte before because I was supposed to pick a flavor. I forgot to say caramel and he made fun of me and treated me like I was stupid. After I paid and walked away he turned and spoke spanish to someone in the back and pointed at me and laughed, when he thought I wasn't looking. One of my favorite things to do in San Diego is to go up to Encinitas for the day to hang out at Moonlight Beach and I never fail to stop at Honey's while I'm there. The food is very high-quality and it is sure to fill you up. There's limited out door seating on the 101 coast highway, but the inside atmosphere is really nice with a beautiful Encinitas mural on the wall. All of the employees are so positive and helpful and quick with requests. They have such a diverse menu so you can get ANYTHING! I decided to have brunch there but when I arrived everyone was watching a soccer game...rooting for the French Team. It was pleasant to see the owners, staff, and guests so into the game. It created a welcoming and fun atmosphere...making my French experience more authentic. Just be aware, that majority of the seating is outside with an overhead shade. I looove eating outdoors so the setting was perrrfect. When it was time to order, I went inside to place it at the counter. Not too long afterwards, my warm latte came out then my breakfast...I didn't have to wait at all. Everything was sooo yummy. C'est vraiment bon!! I can't wait to go back to try the other menu items. I highly recommend Madeleine to the Yelp Community :-)

But today I needed a little extra je ne sais quoi because my morning was annoying, so I decided to splurge on lunch and not just a pastry here. I asked Steve, the (très beau et gentille!) co-owner what the quiche of the day was. There were two: one with jambon (ham) and one with épinards et fromage de chèvre (spinach and goat cheese). When I hesitated, he told me that the spinach one was amazing. Even though it's $20 for a quiche plate, I decided to go for it. I thought I was going to get a sad little quiche slice for that amount and might regret it. But OMG, it was more than worth it! Already they have a lovely patio on this pretty street in this fancy design district. But it was also a HUGE and exceptionally savory rectangular slice, alongside a DELECTEABLE petite salade. I asked Steve what mustard they use in the vinaigrette, and he said plain old Dijon - but the proportions and the seasoning were EXCELLENT. So it was salad perfection, not heavily dressed at all, just delightful. The patio was full on a Friday with ladies who lunch - but did that include me, as a solo diner, since I am a lady who had lunch? I'm not sure, but you can feel comfortable here no matter what. And now I know Madeleine Cafe is much too good to just come for coffee and for ordering in French from Steve or his co-owner Emmanuel. I don't want to spend that much for lunch every day - but I'll be back!

Costs have risen for all of us not just restaurants. At least work the supplemental fee into your prices.

I went for the OG award winning Rosemarie's smash burger and Cajun soft shell crab slider. The crab was fried crispy with bay seasoning. The crab was sweet. The breading could have a little thinner to let the crab shine. The smash burger was comforting with melted American cheese, a thousand island dressing, grilled onions on a fluffy bun. The pickles cut through the richness. Lots of different fries options. I went for classic. The fries were crisps. Service with a smile may be cliche but it was such a great warm atmosphere that I would definitely come back when I want to grab a delicious burger in Encinitas.
