After the initial sticker shock of the prices I ended up ordering an original fried chicken sandwich combo and my boyfriend ordered a 3 piece combo. I really enjoyed my sandwich and the honey I added just enhanced the flavor so much. In my opinion it would've been a lot better with just a big piece of lettuce instead of the mixed salad (with carrots and all) in it though. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his 3 piece. I also ordered a lemon cheddar biscuit on the side and I would honestly go back just for that biscuit. It took me by complete surprise because it was just that amazing. I will say the inconstancy of seasoning on the fries in the same order really threw me off. My fries were so good and very well seasoned while my boyfriends were unseasoned and extremely bland but they give you a really good amount of fries so I shared mine with my boyfriend. To be fair, I usually drink coffee with flavored creamer, and they didn't have any available. The service was average, but the food made up for it. One suggestion would be to wash down the patio area more regularly, as there was a strong odor during my visit. This was my first visit to this establishment. I ordered the three-piece chicken with the blueberry biscuit upgrade, a regular mac and cheese, and a strawberry lemonade, totaling about $41. For that price, I expected to be impressed. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. We ordered our food to go and the weight from the time we order to pick up was 15 minutes. They pack your items in boxes and then placed in a bag. The price is very pricey for chicken. The premium sides are all extra cost, the standard sides is macaroni salad or coleslaw. The chicken is coated with a beer batter, not your typical flour coating. My husband was not a fan of it but I thought it was okay, nice balance in seasoning. Finally decided to make a trip to this place (after surviving the 405!) We parked in a structure at the back, it's one hour free and they do not validate but the price isn't bad at all. The place is really cozy and has family vibes. We ordered our food and after about 15 minutes, we got our chicken! It was so crispy and so good! Honey's has been around a long time, so it's crazy that I just stopped in for the very first time. It's a comfy, fast casual spot on one of the busiest stretches of Washington in Culver City, with dark wood tables, family style bric a brac, a couple of TV's playing sports, and a uniformly friendly staff that tries to accommodate every request as best they can. All the food is cooked to order, so you'll wait 15-20 minutes for your chicken to fry, and that's great because it comes out piping hot. My wife ordered 2 pieces (breast & wing) with sweet potatoes and their biscuit. I ordered 2 thighs and their "country boy potatoes, which were fried cubes of potato mixed with fried veggies and some grilled green peppers. Chicken is tender and very juicy, perfectly cooked. The crispy skin is a treat, but there's very little seasoning in the batter, so I found myself leaning on hot sauce more than I would have expected. The biscuits are perfect, packed with flavor, and when dressed with butter and honey they satisfy big time. Country boy potatoes were initially very tasty, but the ubiquitous "frying" of everything eventually caught up to me, and the meal started to feel heavy, which also started to make me feel guilty. Creamy Cole Slaw has a nice flavor and offers a much needed contrast to the fried items. They also have house made lemonades and pies for dessert, though we left something for next time. So this is a sometimes place, serving (what should be) Cheat Day food. My main gripe being: please add more seasoning to the batter. I can take care of balancing the amount of fried items on my own. When I was in Culver City to check out a movie screening, I had to come by to check it out for myself! The good is that the chicken is moist and the skin is very crispy. The batter is reminiscent of what you'd find in battered fish and chips (which they also sell here). For me, the cons to the chicken were that it wasn't very seasoned and it was quite oily/greasy, which I didn't prefer. The chicken came with a vinegar based hot sauce that was pretty standard. The chicken meal came with fries that were very, very lightly seasoned with a cajun seasoning and a honey biscuit. So glad I learned about Honey Kettle on You Tube! We had an upcoming trip to LA and our lunch venue was determined. Contrary to what we had read, parking was painless (covered lot around the corner), but parking would otherwise be a challenge based on our observation so do build in time for parking. So many options to choose from, we ordered the four piece with fries, biscuit, two lemonades, pecan pie and sweet potato pie. The chicken was perfection..hot, crunchy and flavorful. The skin alone was incredible. You know you are in a good restaurant when the fries are fire! Perfectly seasoned, hot, crusty on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. Texturally the fries tasted double fried..absolutely delicious. The biscuit took me back to Saturday mornings as a child, waiting impatiently for my grandmothers hot biscuits to go with breakfast. My biggest regret is not ordering a half dozen to take home with us. There are a number of lemonade combos and we weren't sure what to order. We decided on the blueberry mint and the cherry melon. Both were hits, wish we could have purchased gallons to take home! Hubby loved the pecan pie (and he is a pecan pie snob for sure), the sweet potato pie wasn't sweet enough. A simple, no frills fried food joint with delicious food. The location is great, the staff were nice, and it had an authentic local comfort food feel -- down to the loud music and un-bussed tables. The fried chicken is fantastic. The crispy breading was great, and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. The sweet potato wedges were awesome -- kind of like sweet potato tempura -- and the biscuit was perfectly warm and buttery. Definitely best to eat it while it's still fresh, though the leftovers reheated pretty well in the air fryer, too. The regular fries were pretty decent, though maybe a step below the chicken and sweet potato. And we also tried fish sticks, which were great. Same breading as the chicken and super flaky. People left their empty trays on their tables and they weren't cleaned up for awhile, so it felt more full than it was. We decided to eat outside but then were caught in a whirlwind of Honey's Kettle's loud music and Jameson's even louder music competing from across the street. Fried foods are always best when eaten right away, so I wish it was a slightly better environment to dig in (plus it's hard to resists when you get a whiff!), but next time I might opt to take it home. The portions are also HUGE and best to share, or plan to have it for lunch the next day! Plus the 4 piece chicken meal is a much better deal than the others so you may as well go for the extra chicken. I threw some leftovers in the air frier a few days later and it was good as new. The chicken, biscuit, and sweet potato wedges were definitely the star of the show. I was a little surprised when I got the sweet potatoes because they are actually battered sweet potato rounds that were kettle fried. Incredible. The fries were fine. I wanted to try the fish sticks too, and the texture was phenomenal. They were so crispy and delicate and flaky at the same time, but the flavor fell a little flat. The music was playing at perfect volume level and the wall decor made you feel at home. Love the fact that the restrooms were further to the back. Very neat, wide and spacious. Love the space between tables for customers dining in and there's also tables outside as well. They have a peculiar entrance towards the back near the restrooms. Also a table for two outside which was nice. The prices I assume are reasonable if you choose their quality of chicken. As for myself the chicken was ok and just a bit overrated.
