After 5 years I thought I'd see if things changed. They did... Kraft honey in the package?! Yikes. At least the terrible service didn't change. SMH. Never order it for there because they prioritize takeout and delivery orders and you'll be left waiting as numbers WAY past yours are called, and delivery drivers leave, as you're left sitting, starving, and listening to the employees who hate each other argue behind the counter. It's been a few years since I went to Honey's Kettle. It used to be a 5 star but now it's closer to 3-4. It's never been cheap, but now it's more expensive and the quality has gone down. The sides are good, the waffle is terrible, but the chicken was rubbery and dry. Seemed like it had not been brined enough or lower quality chicken is being used. The chicken and biscuit were delicious, and the chicken was my favorite I've had in LA so far. The potatoes were fried a little too hard for my taste, and the coffee was just okay. To be fair, I usually drink coffee with flavored creamer, and they didn't have any available. The service was average, but the food made up for it. One suggestion would be to wash down the patio area more regularly, as there was a strong odor during my visit. I'm writing this review out of genuine love for this restaurant because I truly want to see Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken continue to thrive. This has become my go-to comfort meal and one of my absolute favorite takeout spots. The food is consistently outstanding. Their fried chicken is the best I've ever had--perfectly cooked, flavorful, and incredibly comforting--and the gravy (oh the mash) is exceptional. What makes it even more impressive is the value. For the quality of food they serve, their pricing is remarkably reasonable. But what I appreciate most is the consistency. I walked up to the counter on a Sunday around 6pm. There was a line to pick up, but no line to order. I stood at the counter for quite awhile, while a line formed behind me, before someone nudged the girl to take orders. You know when you can tell that someone is actively ignoring you? She was doing "busy work" that clearly was not something that needed to be done. Stacking stacks that don't need to be stacked. The food was not great. The chicken didn't have much flavor, and the wing not much meat. The thigh was juicy. There were plenty of medium thick fries, a few pickle slices and a biscuit. No butter for the biscuit. So I want to give this place a 5 but the lady at the front counter was rude and had a VERY BAD ATTITUDE. Other than that the food was AMAZING. I'm in LA for a certain amount of time and trying to try all the LA staples and this was one of them. The fried chicken was so goood, crispy and juicy. The mac salad, the mashed potatoes and gravy (so yummiful) the pickles were top tier, the beans and rice were good but it had a hot dog smell but they were still good, the fries were yummy. My friends boyfriend got the chicken sandwich and he said it was really juicy and flavorful and he said he doesn't care for coleslaw but it's one of the ones he actually enjoyed as a chicken sandwich connoisseur. The green beans and yams were okay just a tad bit dry for me but I do know it was giving more like midwestern soul food. But everything else was yummy. The music is good and the overall atmosphere is pleasant. So why only 3 stars? The prices are just way too high for what you get. Four mixed pieces of chicken are $17. The coleslaw in the photo was $6 and the portion is tiny. Mashed potatoes are $7 and also very small. An 8-piece family meal is around $50. I understand it's Culver City and an expensive part of town, but the portions just don't match the prices. Parking can also be tough. I recommend using the parking structure next to Flynn's Arcade -- the first hour is free. Good chicken, nice atmosphere, clean restaurant... but wildly overpriced for the portion sizes. read more

We had to wait nearly 10 minutes just to get our to-go order, standing there while two female employees chatted, laughed, and one even went on her phone. Worth mentioning, they just shoved everything inside a bag and it was very messy. This was especially frustrating because it was a busy Sunday around 1:30 PM with around 8 people in line. Customer service should be a priority during peak hours. As for the food, it was just okay. The fries were nothing special, the fried chicken was underwhelming and lacked flavor, and while the pie was pretty good, it wasn't enough to make up for the poor service. Honey's has been around a long time, so it's crazy that I just stopped in for the very first time. It's a comfy, fast casual spot on one of the busiest stretches of Washington in Culver City, with dark wood tables, family style bric a brac, a couple of TV's playing sports, and a uniformly friendly staff that tries to accommodate every request as best they can. All the food is cooked to order, so you'll wait 15-20 minutes for your chicken to fry, and that's great because it comes out piping hot. My wife ordered 2 pieces (breast & wing) with sweet potatoes and their biscuit. I ordered 2 thighs and their "country boy potatoes, which were fried cubes of potato mixed with fried veggies and some grilled green peppers. Chicken is tender and very juicy, perfectly cooked. The crispy skin is a treat, but there's very little seasoning in the batter, so I found myself leaning on hot sauce more than I would have expected. The biscuits are perfect, packed with flavor, and when dressed with butter and honey they satisfy big time. Country boy potatoes were initially very tasty, but the ubiquitous "frying" of everything eventually caught up to me, and the meal started to feel heavy, which also started to make me feel guilty. Creamy Cole Slaw has a nice flavor and offers a much needed contrast to the fried items. They also have house made lemonades and pies for dessert, though we left something for next time. So this is a sometimes place, serving (what should be) Cheat Day food. My main gripe being: please add more seasoning to the batter. I can take care of balancing the amount of fried items on my own. On my way back from a meeting, there was someone I met that really wanted some food. And he knew exactly where to go! We went down the street to this beautiful spot, and I was so excited to try it. This dude ended up being a quarterback from my hometown, which immediately makes him a foodie. The service was amazing, I've never had chicken like it ever in my life. We ordered our food to go and the weight from the time we order to pick up was 15 minutes. They pack your items in boxes and then placed in a bag. The price is very pricey for chicken. The premium sides are all extra cost, the standard sides is macaroni salad or coleslaw. The chicken is coated with a beer batter, not your typical flour coating. My husband was not a fan of it but I thought it was okay, nice balance in seasoning. We ordered a family pack which was a whole chicken cut up, 2 side but I sub for a corn on the cob and 4 biscuits and 2 large French fries and a side of pickles ( they were sweet pickles). When I was in Culver City to check out a movie screening, I had to come by to check it out for myself! The good is that the chicken is moist and the skin is very crispy. The batter is reminiscent of what you'd find in battered fish and chips (which they also sell here). For me, the cons to the chicken were that it wasn't very seasoned and it was quite oily/greasy, which I didn't prefer. The chicken came with a vinegar based hot sauce that was pretty standard. The chicken meal came with fries that were very, very lightly seasoned with a cajun seasoning and a honey biscuit. This spot had been on my list of places to try for a while and we finally got to try it. After the initial sticker shock of the prices I ended up ordering an original fried chicken sandwich combo and my boyfriend ordered a 3 piece combo. I really enjoyed my sandwich and the honey I added just enhanced the flavor so much. In my opinion it would've been a lot better with just a big piece of lettuce instead of the mixed salad (with carrots and all) in it though. My boyfriend also really enjoyed his 3 piece. We came on a Saturday evening the place is always packed today we had good timing not to crowed. As we waited for our food it became more crowded. The food never disappoints!! Chicken, fries and biscuit was on point. We had tried two different lemonade blueberry and strawberry. Both were delicious not sure if $18 for two lemonades are good price points. The fried chicken is fantastic. The crispy breading was great, and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. The sweet potato wedges were awesome -- kind of like sweet potato tempura -- and the biscuit was perfectly warm and buttery. Definitely best to eat it while it's still fresh, though the leftovers reheated pretty well in the air fryer, too. People left their empty trays on their tables and they weren't cleaned up for awhile, so it felt more full than it was. We decided to eat outside but then were caught in a whirlwind of Honey's Kettle's loud music and Jameson's even louder music competing from across the street. Fried foods are always best when eaten right away, so I wish it was a slightly better environment to dig in (plus it's hard to resists when you get a whiff!), but next time I might opt to take it home. The portions are also HUGE and best to share, or plan to have it for lunch the next day! Plus the 4 piece chicken meal is a much better deal than the others so you may as well go for the extra chicken. I threw some leftovers in the air frier a few days later and it was good as new. The chicken, biscuit, and sweet potato wedges were definitely the star of the show. I was a little surprised when I got the sweet potatoes because they are actually battered sweet potato rounds that were kettle fried. Incredible. The fries were fine. So glad I learned about Honey Kettle on You Tube! We had an upcoming trip to LA and our lunch venue was determined. Contrary to what we had read, parking was painless (covered lot around the corner), but parking would otherwise be a challenge based on our observation so do build in time for parking. So many options to choose from, we ordered the four piece with fries, biscuit, two lemonades, pecan pie and sweet potato pie. The chicken was perfection..hot, crunchy and flavorful.
