Where do I begin? Over cooked, dry, chewy, overpriced and that was the beginning and end of my experience. Ordered the 2 wings, 2 catfish filets, shrimp and tried to order lobster bites. They were out and offered me two sides instead, the fried green beans and Mac and cheese bites. I also got the sauce size of coleslaw because the pint is 9.50. No, that is not typo. 9 dollars and 50 cents for cabbage and sauce. They claimed because it's the labor put into the food. Didn't realize Cole slaw is so difficult. Why doesnt the food taste better if it's all house made? My package to go was light. I now understand why. Lots of over fried breading and sparse proteins. Catfish was dry, chewy and overdone. Shrimp was dry, chewy and overdone. Chicken was just okay but measly and the drum part was dry. Fries were a mess. Coleslaw in it's tiny container, spilled into bag. That was the best thing to eat and I should've just had that. Mac and cheese bites are mostly breading with like Kraft Mac and cheese inside. Fried string beans were just okay. I threw most of the food in the trash. My total was 50 dollars. I will not be back. Tried to call just to let them know so they can do better for next unsuspecting victim but they didnt answer. I don't care about a refund or speaking to a manager. This was awful. My original plan was to go to Panda Express. I should've just done that or even 5 Guys next door. After hearing about Harold's and its popularity in Chicago, I was a bit excited to try the one in Los Angeles. I thought the menu had a good amount of options and the prices were reasonable so that added to my interest. The service was helpful but the desserts were highly spoken on and told us "we should try the desserts before the meal" but thank God we didn't because the peach cobbler was not good at all and that would've lessened our interest in the rest of the meal. I think this place deserves a lot of love as their food is tasty and crispy! Just a quick background, this food chain originated from Chicago and they currently have two locations - Hollywood and Culver City. What I'm going to rate: - 1 perch and 1/4 chicken - 1 catfish and 1/4 chicken Food: I loved the perch the most followed by the catfish. They were crispy on the outside but oh-so soft on the inside. You follow that with their crispy chicken and dip that on a sauce of your liking. You can easily get full with that and you are set. Strawberry bundt cake - this one we took home and actually forgot it in our fridge until the next day. It was REALLY GOOD even after a day in the fridge. I will not mind stopping at this place just to get me some sweet cake! Price: $$ and a half. We probably spent about close to $60 for 2 people which is probably in the MID-TIER for fried chicken but it did come with fish and all that food was MORE THAN ENOUGH for us that we had leftovers for next day. Parking: Plenty. This is located at the corner of the Culver City Mall by the old Forever21 spot. Service: I do want to personally thank Cheyenne for exceptional customer service! I visited Harold's today for the first time after seeing several videos online and was excited to try it while I was in town. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. When I arrived, the restaurant was completely empty. A young man took my order. I ordered a 4-piece wing with an extra fish and was given the option of four sauces. I asked for hot sauce on the side. I also chose greens, which came in a very small portion, about the size of a sauce container. After driving off, I realized there was no sauce in my bag, so I returned to the restaurant. The fish itself was good, and the chicken was just okay. The bread was crumbly, and the fries were not great. The main issue, and the reason I most likely will not return, was the customer service. When I went back to ask for the sauce that was missing, the woman working acted as if I was trying to get something extra for free. She questioned me about my order for at least a minute, clearly doubting that the sauce had been forgotten. There was no acknowledgment or apology for the mistake. Eventually, she gave me the sauce, but the interaction was uncomfortable and unnecessary. We didn't even receive napkins. Two other customers sitting nearby witnessed the whole exchange. There are too many other restaurants to choose from to feel like I'm being accused of lying over a 2-oz cup of sauce. I'd rather go to Louisiana Chicken in Inglewood. read more

Being a Chicago native, I need my Harold's fix every now and then. It's essentially a takeout restaurant, so your order is taken as soon as you walk in. The food is made to order, so it takes a bit of time, but it comes out piping hot. The only downside is they are not consistent with the sauce. Most people from Chicago like a nice amount of sauce covering their chicken and that is not always the case here. That's the only downside at this location. read more

Tried Harold's Chicken for the first time after spotting the new location while heading to the Fox Hills Mall (Culver City Mall). As soon as my partner and I walked in, we were greeted with warm, welcoming hospitality. I didn't catch the names of the man who took our order or the woman helping at the counter, but both were very friendly and attentive. Everything is made to order, and our food came out piping hot. I got the four-piece wing dinner with lemon pepper on both the fries and the chicken, plus their signature mild sauce and it was excellent. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Fries tasted re-heated, and the potato salad was average. For some reason they do t allow greens as a side dish. Restaurant was clean and well mai twined. $12.50 for fries and two sides. The worst experience i have ever had to endure... save your self the trouble and just dont go. I will break this down further, but 100% will not be going back ever. As all the reviews say. Horrible old food with no consideration for charging 7$ for 7 mushrooms and the 3 oz side of potato salad. I have been to harolds before in the east coast before, and this is not it.... bbq shrimp was just their fried shrimp with franks hot sauce on top, old okra had been frozen and refried, no fried green tomatoes, chicken was not prepared correctly. They gave the chicken no soak time in buttermilk or brine and just took it out of the freezer and fried it. Complete rubber. Food was trash would not recommend and thats all I will say about that. Inedible I cannot believe the staff at this establishment. Upon entering the worker running the cash register was sitting at a table relaxing scrolling on her phone and eating cottage cheese out of a starter bros bag. She took my order, got bbq shrimp fried okra friend mushrooms kids chicken strips and fries and a large soda...... upon finishing taking my order the worker continued to sit on her phone right next to me at a table. When our food arrived I asked from my large soda and she proceeded to grab a can of sprite from a fridge. When I ask for a fountain drink she just said no. The second visit noticed that the the food didn't taste as amazing as I thought it did the first time. Thinking perhaps I was tripping I gave your menu a 3rd try and my expectations were met a little bit. Harold I think you can work on offering a consistent experience when it comes to preparation. Harold it seems like you also forgot to add seasoning to your fried chicken batter. It's a pass for me on all the sides with the exception of the french fries. I usually go for collard greens no matter how one may cook them but, I did not care for the whatever sweet ingredient was added to the greens. I was not impressed by the potato salad either. On my second trip I was invited to try a tasting portion of Gumbo. ADD THAT TO THE MENU HAROLD!!! The first time I went, I walked in and a young gentlemen looked at me and just said "yes?" and I was so confused because that is not a greeting. And that is now my first impression. About mid way in my meal, I asked Cheyenne for mild sauce and it felt like I was bothering her with the way she responded to me also with a "yes?". She asked if I had already gotten one and I mentioned the mild sauce tasted like ketchup (I genuinely thought it was a sweet ketchup) and she was like that is mild sauce. I guess in my mind I thought it would taste more like hot sauce. I had never been there so to me this could have been a simple, "Our mild sauce can taste more like ketchup to people but it is mixed with ..." She just kept saying "that is the mild sauce" and then gave me a hot sauce. I did appreciate the sauce because I was willing to pay the extra $2 for the small sauce but she gave it to me on the house. Maybe she felt bad for me. Okay so that experience happens, I tell myself they have good food let me uber eats my food for pick up. I was on a time crunch but really was craving their chicken. Knowing it took almost 40 mins last time I figured a pick up order was the best way to go. NOPE. I put the order in at 11:55am. The app says it will be done at 12:09p. I head over and get there at 12:22p. I walk in to see three people are sitting, one Cheyenne, and one got up to assist me. I see no food ready and nothing cooking so I am thinking "ohhh no". And I was right. The woman that was assisting me asked if I could wait 10 mins for them to cook the food and I was so confused because what is the point of a mobile order that was 30 mins ago if you are not going to have it done (and I purposely gave the extra time from the quoted 12:09p). I didn't want to wait because I didn't have time plus last time it took 35 mins even though they said 15 so I couldn't take my chances on my lunch break. It took a minute for them to cancel the order and I really couldn't understand why my order wasn't ready ESPECIALLY after seeing it written down at the counter. I didn't feel like talking or arguing because I was truly disappointed that this was now my second lackluster experience here. I was also disappointed because there didn't seem to be any sense of urgency and barely an apology. I ended up hungry and missing lunch because I was unable to get anything in the time frame I had left.
