Yuck! We just pulled into town and I was looking for some good take out food to bring back to the hotel. I had scouted the menu on Yelp and chose Hong Kong Buffet. The woman at the counter was SO nice and personable. I ordered cashew chicken with an egg roll and cream cheese wontons. When they brought my food, which they did make fresh and didn't just take it off the buffet, I asked for some sweet and sour sauce, specifically the red sauce used for sweet and sour chicken etc. She told be it would be an additional couple of bucks. No problem. She brought me a 1/2 pint of sauce. I returned to the hotel and we were excited to dig in. I opened up the container and found something very unusual. The chicken was breaded fried chicken in some sort of brown sauce with some chopped scallions and a bunch of cashew nuts over the top. It was a pretty small order with not a lot of chicken, but that was OK because it tasted awful. I mean it was really bad. It had a strange smell to it and was just nasty. We could not eat it. The egg roll was also bad. It had very little flavor. The cream cheese wontons were pretty good. Definitely will not be going back. The best thing was the food, which is important, of course. However, you are greeted by the staff outside smoking, who graciously held the door for us. Then you take in the entryway with dirty doors and countertops, tables to the left and right with the owners' or staff's personal belongings, spread over two or three tables. This is your average Americanized Chinese Buffet, decent food at a decent price, similar to most of their kind. Panda Express is somewhat better but has less variety, no desserts, nor self-serve all you can eat. If you're looking for excellent Chinese food, buffet or otherwise, you'll likely need to go to a Chinatown catering to the local Chinese, or curiously, Texas, where locals expect bold flavor. Coming from a local resident, this is the only option for a Chinese buffet in the area. The only place remotely close would be at the Shanghai Star oriental Chinese joint in Branson West (which is Outstanding and cooked to order and there are only a few tables to sit inside) or Springfield. The food is spotty, but I would definitely recommend coming as soon as they open or after 4pm when the food is fresh. read more

Such wide opinions for this spot. Our experience was this wasn't close to a 1-star review, but definitely not a 5-star place either. There were a variety of chicken or beef and veggie items for the Chinese selections. Chinese soups, egg foo yung, and sweet mousse cakes were also available. Some standards, like General Tso's chicken, were missing. However, for a Chinese buffet about half the food trays were filled with American comfort foods: fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet corn, sweet rolls, waffle fries, BBQ ribs, etc. Back on the Chinese side there were some odd options, such as cheesy fried shrimp (which looked too awful to try) and "burbon" chicken. Service was acceptable. There are discounts for seniors, veterans, and others but you won't get them unless you ask or note the tiny sign away from the price menu. read more

Save your money my son and I just stopped for lunch going through Branson. It was almost $20 apiece with our drinks. The food bar from start to finish was a disappointment. The stirfry every different type was ladled with grease and mushy vegetables, not quality food at all. Everything else was fried and swimming in grease. This was the worst experience we have ever had. We have gone to this location for years. Tonight we had the worst experience ever. Our waitress was very inattentive. The gentlman next to us got up 2 times to refill his drink himself. We are locals there are not many places for chinese in this town. With that said, hong kong has the market corned. They offer no local discount. If it werent for the locals in this town supporting them in the winter and through the season they would not be as successfulas they are. My question is if we support your business why cant you as a company share that same support by offering a local discount. With that said me and my family will no longer be supporting your busniess. After a long day, this was a stop on the way back to our lodging. They had something for everyone. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. The buffet itself, is traditional Asian buffet fare. A variety of traditional dishes, cream cheese rangoon, egg rolls, a salad bar, and dessert bar. My favorite item was the orange chicken paired with steamed rice. We were hungry and tired after a long day out and just looking for a place to eat, so we just randomly selected a Chinese ayce. There's some standard stuff like lo mein, beef and broccoli, sesame chicken, crab rangoons. You can also get your share of American food like Mac n cheese, chicken wings (which were pretty decent), and mashed potatoes that worked out decently with kids. There's also a good number of desserts and sealed ice cream cups. The main downer though was the cleanliness - it smelled like cleaner solution at our table and at the buffet area, and the tables didn't look too clean, making it a little hard to feel fully relaxed. The area also looks so-so in the parking lot and could use better lighting to make it feel safer. I was definitely full at the end, so mission accomplished, but I'd say a good scrubbing of the tables and floors with some carpet shampooing could really boost the experience. read more

I got there late in the afternoon 345, and the waitress was very kind and attentive, the food was hot, but you could tell it had been sitting there a long time. I even stirred it up to make it look better. The flavor was really good even though it looked to have been there awhile. This has to best Chinese Buffet in Branson. The food was good. The Service was great.

First off, this place is filthy and the furniture is dirty, broken, and not even straight. Booths are crooked and tables are wobbly. That, unfortunately is the good news. The Chinese food, (Cheesy shrimp? More like popcorn shrimp swimming in melted Velveeta) what there was of it, was horrible. Besides being dry and old, it tasted sour and some of it wasn't even recognizable. I had a plate of it and quickly abandoned that idea. I went back and got mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and chicken. Two bites in I realized that the chicken was sour. Less than an hour after eating, and almost before I was in my hotel room, I was sweating and trying to get to the bathroom before a very embarrassing event occurred.
