Today, 05/26/21, I ordered Orange Chicken and Combination Fried Rice with an Egg Roll. The entire meal was awful. The Orange Chicken was actually fried mostly orange flavored bread, with an essence/hint of chicken. The Combination Fried Rice was unbelievably dry and the egg rolls were completely devoid of moisture as well. This restaurant has always been mediocre at best. As such, I have come to expect very little from this restaurant and today, I got even less. And, it really did not help their cause when I walked in and the broom was propped against my bag. I truly enjoyed the food most of the time. I every time I call and I have the worst experience with the individuals that answers the phone their customer service is horrible the food is delicious I wish that they can send them through some type of training when it comes to customer facing and being on the phone with customers. I ordered a contactless order with instructions to be delivered to my vehicle per their website. Instructions stated to call when you arrive. I called 61 times before they answered the phone only to be put on hold for 15 mins before I had to get out and go in. Nothing about my experience was good including my food. I asked the cashier to bring my order to my vehicle when it was ready and he stated he didn't know if he could do that. I asked him why not since I paid online and put that I wanted a contactless experience. He walked off and answered the phone in the middle of me speaking to him. Not sure why all the one stars are here. Been here three times since moving to Forney, mostly because our kids are enamored with chains, so Panda Express usually wins. However, my wife and I have been okay with the food here. Not great, not bad. I used to work in the food service industry and have seen some horrific back of the counter/kitchen scenes and poor food, so I am as picky as they come, but not seeing it here. If you think this is bad, I suggest trying one somewhere else and you may recalibrate your Chinese carryout food compass. I don't know how anyone even gets to order any food. When this place opened it was wonderful and we loved it. Now, the past few times the phone is either busy OR rings and rings forever. When they did answer one time they hung up on us. Another time after finally getting through again, they put us on hold for 11 mins and THEN hung up on us again!!! Service has gone down hill and this was it for us. We will not be trying and spending the amount of time we just spent sitting on the phone waiting just to order when we could have been halfway back from Mesquite where the food is better anyway, that's where we used to go before this place opened. This may be one employee but it's happened many times now and they are taking the business down with them. So disappointing. Couldn't be a pizza shop. It's one of our 1 different shops. My first time here. Staff not super friendly. In my opinion the food is really bad. I got shrimp lo mien and it was terrible. Reason: it had a sweet taste to it, wide noodles, very few vegetables, and didn't taste like lo mien at all. I also got the wonton soup.....and it was tasteless. Tasted like flour that was wet. 0/5 I also got egg rolls.....they were really bad because they had very little (if any) cabbage. A grocery store would have better egg rolls. I read the poor Yelp reviews on this place, but I decided to try for myself. At this time, I would not recommend this eatery. If I could give them less than a star, I would. This was my first and last experience with them. I walked in to place my order to go and the employees were sitting down at tables on their phone and seemed annoyed when I walked in to place my order. When ordering the cashier was rude and I should have taken that as a sign to just leave and not order. I ordered the chicken fried rice and could not even eat the chicken because it tasted TERRIBLE. The chicken tasted like it was reheated one too many times and as way too chewy. The rice was overpowered by the chives that I couldn't taste anything else besides the chives, since I threw the chicken out after tasting how AWFUL it was. The food there used to be really good, but in the past year not so much. The last two times I placed an order, the staff was not friendly, the egg rolls were old and our order was wrong. I decided to give them a last try. I ordered beef fried rice and shrimp fried rice, extra spicy and with no onions. I even informed the manager about the problem of not getting our food as requested and she assured me it would be right this time. I would give this place no stars!!! I ordered the sesame chicken with fried rice for delivery, as a whole bunch of other girls in the office ordered food too. When it was time to eat, they forget a few items, and orders were wrong. I called and told them what they forgot, and the manager said, "Yo friends ate it". So I literally drove up there, and they still kept telling me the same thing over. The sesame chicken had gristle and and bones it it, and the rice tasted like they burnt the oil. It's not far for a place to try to live up to Chan's in Mesquite but not wanting to drive out that way late on a Thursday night. Found this place after leaving wally. Decent size place the staff very nice and it's a good place to dine-in for lunch or dinner. Having a choice of 2 different sizes lunch and dinner. With lunch being med size and dinner being a decent size. Coming in black square boxes with the dinner box being a bit deeper than the lunch. Went with my favorite dish beef lo-mein it was okay i guess Chan's has spoiled me with their portion size. String bean beef being good as well. I will be coming back here whenever i feel the need to stay home or want to enjoy a nice quiet lunch read more

When this place opened, it ruled. Friendly staff, excellent food, reasonably fast service in-house AND on delivery. Within the last year or so, I have come to agree with most of the recent reviews. Last night might've well been the last straw. We ordered food that took almost 2 hours to arrive. Thought I would try Mongolian Beef.... Our food was barely warm (probably in deliveryman's car for an hour,) AND my entree was barely enough to feed a 6th grader. I seriously thought maybe they accidentally dropped part of my order from pan to to-go container & were too lazy to cook more. We spent $36 for small-quantity lukewarm food. I felt totally ripped off. They'd better wise up and fix all these problems or they may not be around much longer. All I wanted was for the combo fried rice to be spicey. Did not happen. Not only that, the taste of the food is nor as good as it was in the past. This was our first time there and I have mixed feelings, it was busy but I was greeted as soon as I entered, I ordered my food to go and had a slight wait. Once I got home I was surprised to see the fried rice was basic rice with no vegetables or egg , disappointed in that. Then came the entree which was supposed to be spicy beef but it was extremely bland with more onions than anything else so I'm undecided on whether I will be back or not which is sad because it is so convenient. read more

The food has really improved and is now great. We used to eat here because it was convenient and because it was something different when we got tired of the other restaurants in the area. Back then the food was only mediocre--ok, but not great. If I had done a review back then, I would have had a hard time deciding between giving two or three stars. Things have changed in the past several months and the quality of the food is now excellent. The last three times we've eaten there it has really been great and we now look forward to the meal. I always order the Chicken Lo Mein and it is very good. My wife's favorite is the Sweet & Sour Chicken and they do a very good job with it. The Chicken On A Stick (Chicken/Onion Skewer) is a great deal and cooked perfectly. Lots of meat, great flavor and not overcooked/dry as is sometimes the case with this type of dish. I also like the Hot & Sour Soup. I don't know how they could make it any better than it is. I'm giving four stars because it's not the best Chinese Food Restaurant I've ever been to and because I think the egg rolls could be better--I'd rate the egg rolls a 6 or 7 out of 10. They have a great crunch and are not oily, but I think they don't have quite as good flavor as some I've eaten. My wife disagrees with me on the egg rolls, she would give them a 9 or 10. It's a great place to eat. One other thing. They have never gotten anything wrong on any of our orders. We eat a lot of takeout and it can be really irritating to get home and find that you didn't get what you asked for. That has never happened at Hong Kong Express. I don't really understand the other reviews on this place. I was visiting family and wanted to get delivery. I always look at reviews before trying something out of town. I guess I was expecting more from this place. It was not the best I had ever had. We had Orange Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice, Sweet & Sour Chicken and Won Ton soup. The two chicken dishes were edible, not great, but the Rice and Soup was disgusting. The soup tasted like it was burnt and sat for days and the rice had a funny flavor too. I really, really wanted to try this place! We'd been driving several hours before stopping in Forney, TX. We hadn't eaten a real meal in nearly 12 hours, so when I saw this place recommended by our hotel, I wanted to try it. We drove over and walked in. The first thing that hit me was a sewer smell. When we lived in San Angelo two years ago, this was fairly common and I remembered it well. I seriously wanted to eat here after seeing another guest get their food just in the couple minutes we stood in line to order. Ordered food to be delivered 6/6/14. Only ate the wings appetizer and the cup of won ton soup. Within an hour got sick with both vomiting and diarrhea. Ended up with severe food poisoning. Called manager to advise, he told me no one else got sick and it couldn't have been his food. This is Tuesday and still having stomach cramping and bloating. Food is ok, service is awful! To make sure you don't get over charged, I recommend you pay in cash. I ordered my food then went to set down. The cashier took a phone call while I was waiting. She was very rude to the person on the other end saying that they charged the person the correct amount. After she hung up she walked over to another lady behind the register and said the machine had over charged multiple people. According to the cashier, one person was charged $70. So she bold face lied to the person on the other end. I recommend paying with cash but mainly recommend eating somewhere else. Once my food came out my order was wrong. When I stated my order was wrong, the same cashier from behind the counter yelled at me that she repeated my order back to me so it's my fault. I ordered fried wontons/ crab Rangoon she placed the order as dumplings/ potstickers. The other lady who brought out my order replaced it. Now to hope I am not over charged! read more
