Michael, the owner, greeted us and took care of us! We started with the Jumbo Crab Fingers which were really good - I'm honestly not huge on seafood, so I enjoyed these a lot more than I thought I would. Ironically, I'm not big on oysters either, so I ordered the Jumbo Golden Fried Shrimp which hit the spot real good. Large shrimp, well fried, flavored, and the tartar sauce was addicting. The fries that came with it were perfectly seasoned, carrying a bit more of a cajun flavor rather than just regularly salted. My parents definitely enjoy oysters, so they ordered the Charbroiled Oysters and really enjoyed it, as well as the Uni Oyster with Quail Egg. They also got the Cowboy Lobster Shrimp Roll that was gone before I even took a second look their way. We finished the meal with a yummy, dense basque cheesecake! Every customer that came in during our time there was personally greeted by Michael, and it seemed like they were all repeat customers. It was really cool to see that kind of connection, and it really showed how much Michael cares about his customers, and how much we like his food! Indoor seating is a bit limited - all bar stool seating. I rarely comment on the music that a restaurant plays, but I quite liked it! Made me feel like I was on the bay enjoying some fresh seafood at sunset. Heard they'll be opening up their newest location at POST soon!

The place is clean, and the staff is super friendly, though I'm pretty sure our server didn't realize I'm Filipino because she kept asking if we liked the dishes like we'd never had them before. It cracked me up lol! Most of our cravings were definitely satisfied. I was disappointed they don't serve sago with the gulaman anymore, and the crab fried rice didn't seem to have actual crab in it. I could smell it, but I couldn't see it. The pork BBQ sticks were huge and flavorful, while the inihaw na pusit was on the smaller side, but dipping it in their vinegar sauce made it extra good. My husband tried pork sisig for the first time, and the server explained it's best eaten while drinking, aka as a "pulutan" which again confirmed she didn't realize we're Filipino. The halo-halo was perfect for cooling off in this Texas heat, though I remember the serving being bigger when they first opened. Overall, a friendly spot with solid Filipino comfort food with a few misses, but still a great place when the cravings hit.

Everything was super delicious and flavorful. The lechon and pata had great texture. A small portion of the pata was a little dry, but overall, tender and juicy. Pata was lightly seasoned so dipping it in the shoyu sauce is recommended. The Kare Kare was perfect and the Halo Halo was refreshing. The staff are very friendly. Lots of tables to dine at and lots of parking. This is a huge restaurant with a stage where they have scheduled live music entertainment. They have a full bar as well with a pretty good selection of liquor. To be honest, probably the fancier Filipino restaurant that I've ever eaten in lol. They have a small private room area that can be reserved for parties. The food came out so fast and made fresh. We'll be back whenever we're in this area again.

It was a huge portion and not a heat it up dish. It was so well prepared and the linguini and Brussels sprouts were great. I had the potato soup that was excellent. The service was great. I got to see my Hero Jacob, the manager, who saved my friend's life the day before. He was wonderful as usual, welcoming and warm. I think I could eat there every day. You need to eat at 491. This is what I would consider to be an upscale dining restaurant with a unique assortment of specialty dishes. Ordered hot honey chicken bites, Brussels sprouts as starters and they both were excellent. In fact everything was excellent. Greek salad, Sonoma chicken salad on wheat with orzo salad and the chicken skillet pot pie. All very good. Neat feel to the building and kept impeccably clean. Specialty cocktails, happy hours etc... Would expect to find this restaurant in the heart of First Colony or in premium dining downtown. So great to see upscale dining in Bellaire. Found prices to be very fair given quality. Wood fire pizza on site. Tons of options. Will definitely be back. Well done!

Unfortunately, the visit ended up being a bit lackluster. When we arrived, there was no greeting at the door and it quickly became clear they were pretty short staffed and interviewing. One bartender appeared to be trying to manage the entire place by himself. To his credit, he was working hard and doing his best to keep up, so no knock on him at all. They were also out of quite a few things. Most of the alcohol options weren't available, including the shots that were advertised and even well tequila, which was surprising for a daiquiri spot. The vibe didn't quite match the promotion either. R&B was advertised, but that wasn't really the atmosphere when we were there. The highlight of the visit was definitely the wings -- they were phenomenal and easily the best part of the experience. The drinks we were able to get were decent as well. Maybe it was just an off day, but overall the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. 2-3 stars. I'm not sure I'd make the 30-minute trip again, but I do hope they get the staffing and inventory situation worked out because the food definitely has potential.
