I have never been so shocked that a place has an average star rating much lower than I expected because of just how amazing the food, service, and ambience is. In fact, I'm writing a review while eating my quiche from here because everything is *that* good. As a disclaimer, I arrived at the shop right when they opened (around 6am) on a weekday. I needed a place that was open early to kill some time before my conference starts. The prices are a few dollars more than what I would normally expect to pay at any other coffee shop but I thought I would give them a try. Seating wise, there are 8 chairs all at a connected counter facing the walls of the shop. Probably best to go by yourself or one/two people if you plan on eating/drinking inside. There are also chairs and tables in front of the shop as well as in the back. Decent amount of parking in the back of the building and it's reserved for Honolulu Coffee customers - 1st hour is free. There's also metered parking in front of the shop. Here's a breakdown of what I ordered: Iced Local Latte (16oz - $9.40): I like my coffee drinks sweet and this drink definitely hit the mark. I was surprised that I could actually taste the distinct honey flavor while drinking my drink (yes, even after stirring my straw and not just sipping from the bottom unmixed). If you're a traditional coffee enjoyer, you might want to go for one of their pour overs instead since this drink was pretty sweet (to my personal liking though!). If you're the type to usually order frappuccinos from Starbucks over regular coffee, this drink's for you. Spinach Dip Quiche ($13.75): Served warm in a compostable container. It's got a nice crispy crunch! The cheeses, egg, and spinach blends nicely with each other for a nice savory bite. Not too salty, not overly cheesy. Definitely filling enough for me to call it a breakfast instead of a small snack. read more

Tried this place for the first time having high hopes because all of Honolulu Coffee Co usually tastes delicious. I thought the drinks here were just ok and severely overpriced. I got an iced local latte and was told it only comes in the 16oz. For me, I value quality over quantity. I like a good tasting cup of coffee than the quantity in the cup. I substituted oat milk and added a shot of espresso because, I like to be able to taste my coffee flavor. It was severely overpowered by syrup and milk and just didn't have the taste you find consistent with the store at Ala Moana. And I paid around $12 which is above average for a cup of coffee. I do like that they have parking, it's free for the first hour if you scan their QR code. And I do like that they have outdoor and indoor seating (although indoor seating is severely limited). read more

Honolulu Coffee Co. on King St features flaky, buttery crossiants out of this world. Their Hawaiian Latte was okay (3/5); I remember really enjoying it previously at the Ala Moana location but when I had it here, I didn't taste the mac nut or coconut flavors that give it the tropical flare. The ube croissant though was a 6/5. The Chantilly cream was at the perfect sweetness and "ube-ness", and the croissant was so flaky I kept making a mess but it was worth every bite. One of the most memorable croissants I've had in my life, including those from Japan and the US mainland. Coffee was okay but the bakery here was highly underrated. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I was craving matcha & remembered that I seen their strawberry matcha on Ig. It looked sooo good. I'm glad I got it because, YUM! So so smooth. The strawberry puree matches so well and it's not too sweet. A bit pricey but it was worth it for $9 something. The workers were super friendly and very welcoming. The service was also super quick! I love Honolulu Coffee and finally got to check out their newest location on my day off. My mom and I parked in the back lot (1 hour free and each hour after $3). Parking was ample and super convenient. This location is very clean, has spacious outdoor seating (we brought our dog along too!) and has great hours--I really like that they open at 6am, I think the Ala Moana location that I usually go to opens a few hours later. For drinks, I ordered my usual iced matcha latte, half sweet with oat milk and my mom got a soy latte. The matcha is like $10 here, which is kind of crazy, but it's always consistent. Though it's pricey, I think their rewards program is pretty generous because they always send me $5 on my bday and I unlocked a $6.70 off my next drink on this visit. My friend and I came here for a quick bite and coffee, and I was surprised with their food selection! In addition to the good looking pastries in the front, they had a bunch of other items you can order from the kitchen. I ordered an iced local latte and a quiche Lorraine. I asked for my latte to be half sweet and it was just right! I enjoyed the quiche Lorraine, it was nice, moist and had a tasty filling. The crust was pretty good too! My friend ordered the strawberry matcha latte and she thought that was ok. Her breakfast sandwich looked good though! Overall, not too bad of a place to get a quick coffee and breakfast. I'm always on a hunt for the best croissants & this place did not disappoint! I saw this place on social media and knew I had to check it out! Located on King Street with free parking for an hour in the back. I came in knowing what I wanted and was so happy they had it still! I came in around 10:45a and they open at 6a. Here's what I got: 1. Cinnamon Apple Morning Bun ($6.50): besides croissants, I love morning buns. This one was flakey, sugary, cinnamony, and had a generous amount of apple. 2. Ube Chantilly Croissant ($7.85): This thing was huge!! Super flakey, the coconut flakes on top added a nice crunch. The ube was delicious! ( I love anything ube!) 3. Chocolate Brownie Croissant ($7.85): Just as the name states, this is stuffed with an actual piece of brownie. The brownie was fudge & again, the croissant was flakey & buttery. Doors open both onto King Street as well as to the parking lot out back. Baking and roasting are done on site so that eats up a lot of space. The chill, shady lanai out back is where you'll enjoy your coffee and treats. Food and drinks can be a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. This coffee is excellent. Grateful to this business for investing locally and bringing life to an important historic anchor for Mō'ili'ili. I know they'll be a great success! read more

Bakery on King... Honolulu Coffee is finally here and after much patience I decided today was the day as I didn't want to search for parking and is nice that they do have a lot of stalls in the back along with direct access from the lot and was impressed with how they made this former Kokua Market location work for them as they took the Kapiolani location and shrank it to a smaller scale though still had everything including the coffee roaster. With both seating inside and outside along with the huge display of baked goods you line up against to place your order is a nice touch to draw you in and it did work as I couldn't resist the Corn Chowder Croissant but wished that I didn't as it just didn't work for me but what did was their Strawberry Matcha a light and refreshing drink that wasn't too sweet really got my cravings in check. The staff was nice not that forwarding besides asking me "if that was all" but the barista was really nice and friendly made my drink perfectly and is nice to see that they have some self service water as well to keep hydrated. The vibe here is like a great gathering place with many lounging and catching up which is nice as it's very cool in this well air conditioned shop you can basically just keep coming back especially as I found out I had points to redeem bringing my treat a real treat. Heard about a new eatery in the university area and had to try it. Got there around 11 and the parking lot had some open spots. There is a QR code to scan with the first hour free. Table seating outside was packed on a nice sunny Saturday. There are a few seats inside to beat the heat. We got a variety of croissants and ended up snagging their last cereal milk (fruity pebble) one. There are food items and beverages but we came for the pastries. My favorite croissant was the corn chowder since it was different, had a gooey corn filling, and I love soup. The fruity pebble one was also good with a fruity cream filling. You can't go wrong with a plain croissant. The almond croissant looked good but it lacked in flavor of almond. I think there was an apple filling but it truly needed more almond flavor. The breads and bagels looked good. The burrito didn't look so good. We also got a meat pie but I didn't try it. Looked a bit dry. Service: we didnt have to wait long in line nor to get our pastries. I think they deliver food to your table if you eat in but we got a box to go. Location: there is a small parking lot and street parking. There is also the parking structure across the street. Honolulu Coffee has replaced Kokua Market and given S King street a fresh replacement! The coffee shop has a large parking lot and plenty of outdoor patio space to sip on a drink. The interior seating is limited with the majority of it dedicated to the kitchen and coffee bar. This may be purposeful by design to limit folks loitering in the interior. They have an extensive menu of drinks, pastries and food. The standout is all of the pastries including unique items like croissants with flavors like kimchi and ube. It was unique to see that they also have made to order hot food items on the menu. Prices are a little high. My husband got a plain small drip coffee that was $5. Honolulu Coffee - one of the local companies to help usher in the strong coffee culture that exists in Hawai'i - has taken over the Kokua Market location on South King Street. A welcome sight in Moiliili...with Glazers Coffee shutting down a year ago. They have a roastery and bakery inside the cafe. Counter space is available for dining in and patio seating is available outside in the back, adjacent to a small parking lot. A couple of tables are outside of the storefront. Visited late Monday morning while killing time with my vehicle at the garage...lots of tourists to go with locals. I had takeaway this Monday. Tried the Hawaiian Frost...an ice blended cold brew concentrate with coconut and mac nut syrups....disappointing. It was akin to a Haole masquerading as a Kanaka Maoli...a joke...not trying to make a socio-political statement . Guava Hand Pie was too doughy and not crisp enough. Egg and Cheese Sandwich ( on an English muffin ) was alright. Are they trying to upscale McD's offerings?!? You could say the subsequent iterations - Kai Coffee and Kona Coffee Purveyors - have surpassed the OG artisinal coffee company...but they are still worth a try. Grand Opening Day 07/21/25! Long line to get into HCC. Shout out to @brevenchym for his Instagram post alerting me to HCC's grand opening day! Fellow Yelp Elite All Star Nadine C. joined me in the crazy line! Opening day chaos lol. So many people waiting for the orders, wanting to place their orders, VIP guests, and people looking around! The line to place your order was unclear, no directional signs. We finally figured out which way to go, thanks to Nadine's Eagle eyes. Looking at the gorgeous pastries, I noticed there were no prices on the items. I checked the menu board and no prices as well?! I had to ask an employee what was the price point and he gave me a range? Well, I ordered the Liliko'i croissant, the @brevenchym recommended kim chee spam croissant, almond croissant and the Hawaiian Açai bowl at $17.00. and of course I had to try HCC's coffee! I ordered the Mocha latte. Unfortunately, the Hawaiian Açaí bowl was underwhelming. The menu lists: made with organic super fruits (none specified), and topped with granola, bananas, almond butter, macadamia nuts (missing from my bowl), & coconut flakes. The bowl was refreshing on a warm sunny day, but the açai flavor was lacking. Unfortunately the bowl was also missing the macadamia nuts. Wish it had more fresh fruits, other than sliced bananas. The size of the bowl was on the smaller size. See photos. Overall: 3/5 stars Service was difficult to access as this was on Opening Day. The ambiance was celebratory, noisy, and exciting! The coffee was the star of the day! 5/5 stars for the Mocha Latte. Super smooth taste! The Mocha flavor was not overpowering to the coffee. I absolutely loved HCC's coffee! The pastries were good. The kim chee spam croissant was 5/5 stars. Delicious, savory, a kick of spice, in a flaky croissant! The Liliko'i croissant had a meringue like topping and it was filled with Liliko'i jelly or cream? Loved the different textures of this croissant and you can really taste the Liliko'i flavor. 4/5 stars The Almond croissant was also filled with an almond paste and sliced almonds. We saw Honolulu Coffee was open but wasn't able to visit during their soft opening. The day we decided to go was actually their Grand Opening so we decided to wait. I ended up meeting a client there before going with Mink. This location has a private lot in the back but it gets full fast. There is metered street parking if it's full. If you park in their lot, make sure to read the signs! I came back to a citation on my windshield because I didn't register my vehicle when I was inside. Thankfully it's just a warning. Make sure to follow the instructions on the signs. Since they are new, the place is busy. Decor inside is nice and they have a good display of all their pastries as you stand in line to order. They offer inside and outside patio seating. You just need to get lucky with the table because some seats are in the sunlight and it'll get hot really fast. There is trash bins near the door that you can dispose of your trash in. If you like pastries or coffee, this is a spot to check out. They also offer WiFi but they were still having issues the day I visited. Their tech person is working on it and hopefully it'll be working soon. Nice replacement for Kokua Market. read more

I talked my family into waking up early and coming with me to the grand opening of Honolulu Coffee and we all agree it was NOT worth it! We drove from Mililani, to make the 8am opening we left the house at 7am. Traffic was great, we made it there around 7:40am and there was already a line outside. We parked in the small lot in the back where we could see the outdoor seating and staff having there blessing. I waited until 7:50am to join the line thinking it would just be a 10 min wait before we would start moving. The doors didn't open until 8:22am. From the time the doors open it took us about 30 minutes to make it inside, then we were in line another 20 minutes before we got to the register to order. Luckily a staff member came outside and handed out menus a little before the doors opened so we had plenty of time to decide what we wanted. Omurice was good. The egg was nice and fluffy and there was a good amount of kalua pork. The pork was a little on the chewy side. The best part was the gravy. Loco moco was very good. Patty was thick and juicy. Egg was nicely cooked and that gravy was again the stand out of the dish. Grilled cheese was good. The bread was a little too thick for the amount of cheese. It would have been better with just 1 slice of bread. Pancakes were horrible! Salty and dense. The coconut Whipped cream was runny like a syrup. The coffee infused maple syrup was tasty. Drinks were also disappointing. Iced matcha latte was good. Chai Latte tasted like cinnamon milk. Local Latte tasted like pure milk, I did not taste the espresso at all. Mocha was okay but honestly I just expected more coming from a coffee shop. All drinks were ordered as the largest size and seemed more like a medium. The pastries are still under review as we haven't tried them all but I can tell you that the monkey bread tasted off, it had like a sour taste and maybe like there was apple in it. The ube Chantilly was yummy and the brownie croissant was the best so far. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and we were given 2 tokens to redeem for free drinks for the salty pancakes. Honolulu Coffee - New Location Food: So many tempting options fresh croissants, bagels and my personal fave, the banana bread (so moist and flavorful as always!) They also offer breakfast and healthy menu items that I can't wait to try next time. Service: A+ for the staff! There were a lot of them working fast and all smiling. Service felt smooth and welcoming. Ambience: Spacious outdoor seating with lots of room to relax. Inside is a bit smaller than their old Kalakaua Ave location which I kind of miss. This spot is tucked in a quiet neighborhood so it's important to be mindful of noise, especially early in the morning. Free parking is a huge bonus fits about 15-25 cars! My Drink: I tried the iced strawberry matcha latte with oat milk. It was creamy, strong, and sweet. A little too much for me I prefer lighter, less sweet drinks. I'm a sucker for pastries and Honolulu Coffee's newest spot absolutely delivers! I couldn't even choose between what I should try first but settled on the corn chowder croissant and turkey cheddar hand pie. I was not expecting the corn croissant to actually have a filling but was pleasantly surprised it was oozing with corn chowder. My only gripe is that I wish it was warmed through. The hand pie was also delicious! Very flaky and happy that they warmed it up. We got ube lattes and I don't feel like I tasted too much ube but the coffee was definitely strong! I'd want to go back to try their strawberry matcha lattes and maybe more pastries--this time, something sweeter! This location has a lot more outdoor seating than indoor, and there is a single-room restroom for customers. I observed a roaster, and presume the roasting experience can be found at this new location. Much smaller than the former location near the Convention Center. Honolulu Coffee Co - Underwhelming Coffee, Decent Bakery Stopped by Honolulu Coffee Co and ordered a large drip coffee, black. For a coffee company, I expected more--the brew tasted watery and slightly burnt. Definitely not the kind of cup that makes you want to linger. Bakery Experience: I asked the cashier for a recommendation and she suggested the kimchee spam croissant. It wasn't bad--the kimchee gave it a nice spicy kick--but I couldn't taste the spam at all. There was so little in there, it was hard to tell it was even included. That said, they do offer a wide variety of baked goods, which is a plus. Pricing & Service: One thing I wish they'd improve: clear pricing labels for the baked items. My total came out to $16, which felt steep for a drip coffee and one pastry. The line was long, and it seemed like many customers had questions about the bakery items. There was only one cashier handling orders, while three baristas worked behind the counter. Seating & Atmosphere: Inside, there were just four bar stools with high tops, but outside in the back, there were quite a few tables and seats. The overall vibe was more contemporary than cozy--not the most inviting atmosphere for a coffee shop. Final Thoughts: I might give it another try if I'm in the area, but I wasn't impressed with the coffee. Having gone back to try a bunch of their special pastries I've come to update my review and share my ratings haha. Seasonal drink- strawberry matcha 10/10 so good and it's beautiful! Corn chowder croissant- 8/10 cheese on top is a little hard but the corn chowder filling is delicious. Full of ham and corn and kind of sweet. Really messy lol not an eat and go kind of croissant. Not good cold get it warmed up lol Hot dog croissant- 7/10 only had one bite and it was cold but I had it in the fridge. Yummy honey mustard glaze. Don't care for a baked hot dog texture. Would probably still get again though. Kimchi spam croissant- 7.5/10 too spicy (I'm a wimp) love that the spam is ribboned throughout kind of thinly. Nicely executed! Almond croissants- 9/10 nothing new but definitely one of the best almond croissants I've ever had. The baked chantilly on top is a nice texture contrast to the soft chantilly filling inside. Delicious. Guava hand pie- 10/10 great warm or cold, pie texture is smooth and buttery. Like an elevated pop tart in the best way. My favorite of everything I tried surprisingly! Ube chantilly- 9/10 strong ube flavor and LOTS of filling. Also very messy!! Chantilly is a tad runny but still good. Cereal and milk- 9/10 like a fruity pebble flavored custard cream inside?? INSANE. SO GOOD. Just a regular icing on top but adds a nice texture. Lilikoi- 5/10 I was most excited to try this because it sounds so yummy and it looked gorgeous but the filling was SO SOUR. Not just tart- SOUR. Like biting into a lemon. And there's a lot of it. The cream texture on top is okay. I thought it would balance out because the top is sweet but there's just so much of the sour lilikoi filling. I'm hoping it was just an unripe batch of lilikoi. And I love sour!! I spent too much money here but I love this place so much lol. The workers are all so sweet and personable Pro tip- sign up for their rewards. It's free and easy to rack up points. Honolulu Coffee has been a favorite local brand for many years. They recently had an experience center outside Waikiki, that closed after a few years. While they have many smaller cafe locations, this new one is their main roastery and bakery. This is the old location of the Kokua Market, parking is the same out back and word of warning, you have to register your car online to avoid a ticket. It's also easy to walk here from the other shops and restaurants in the University Avenue area. I hope this is one of many anchor tenants to help this area regrow. They redid the building and painted it a verdant green. A new mural adorns the alley side to beckon drivers in. They have a bunch of 2-seater tables out front, with a few more inside and various sized ones out back with umbrellas to shade from the afternoon sun. The main counter area is a circle in the middle, you order around the back near the menu, pickup in the front. They also have their equipment behind glass. The workers were friendly and welcoming, drinks made to order efficiently. To the front is the bakery counter to see what's fresh. The menu is for sandwiches and breakfast items. Prices all around are reasonable, if a little high for the area. This is a great addition to the area and hopefully sticks around a long time! read more

Went there around lunch time on a Saturday. They were busy. Just a little bummed because it looked like we missed all the pastries already! There was still some left. We got the strawberry matcha, the blueberry corn muffin, the banana bread. My friend got the guava bread, and my husband got the hawaiian frost. Some seating inside but most of it is out back. There is a parking lot out back that you get a free hour but you have to register to park. Guess I gotta give it some time or go back at an earlier time. Must be because I went on a weekend, midday. I want to try the pastries so I'll make sure to go early. Little disappointed in the matcha. It was a little clumpy, you could see bits of the matcha and while drinking, you could taste it. But I would still like to try again. read more

Came at 8am on Saturday and it was pretty crowded but not too bad. The outdoor seating is spacious and nicely shaded, however all the spots were taken so we just took everything to go. Small parking lot in the back. The cold brew was pretty strong and I'd say average. The ube croissant had a good amount of ube filling in it & I love ube so it was great! We also liked the spam pastry - the spice on top was good and overall a unique pastry. The chocolate croissant was also good - it has some type of brownie inside. Overall I'd give this a 7/10. Coffee is ok, pastries are pretty good. I really like the interior and outside design - very spacious, lots of natural light! read more

My fave out of the 3 croissants we got was the corn chowder. These would have been even more tastier if I popped them in the air fryer. So glad this place opened up! Love their Uber Latte with Almond Milk! The Kimichi Spam is so good! It's spicy which I did not expect at all! They have plenty of parking which you need your cell phone to scan to park there. Don't forget your phone cuz they do check. Even if you are running u. And getting something quickly I suggest scanning for parking. I was there this morning at 6:10am and by the time I left someone was checking license plates. There is plenty of outdoor seating so if you want to enjoy your morning coffee before driving off there plenty of room. read more
