Opening day to the public and the line was long. The line moved quickly and the morning went by nicely. Ordered coffee, some food items and pastries to go. The Hawaiian Latte and Local Latte iced drinks were awesome. The bacon breakfast sandwich and avocado toast were delicious. The pastries were for later but they all looked so yummy. Located in the old Kokua Market building. Great location with parking in the back or on the street. Students will love this place, and those who work have a place to get their coffee fix plus the neighbors in the area have a nice coffee shop to walk to. Definitely thumbs up. read more

We stopped by this coffee shop and ordered a regular iced coffee and the Ube coffee, both were delicious and easily our favorite coffees on the island. There was a bit of a line and service was slightly on the slower side, but the quality of the drinks more than made up for it. You can really taste the care and craftsmanship in every sip. This flagship location is a cute stop! There's parking in the back and the shop validates with a purchase. I love getting matcha lattes here and there's a ton of interesting pastries like corn chowder croissants that are gooey and super corn tasting or fruity pebbled donuts and croissants. They also serve regular sit down breakfast too. Love this place! read more

Service was excellent. The male cashier was so friendly, kind and thankful. 10/10! No tables inside. Several outside. Restroom inside is clean but could use some restocking. Toilet paper and paper towels were both not refilled but sitting there so at least it existed. It was like day 3 of business since grand opening so I'm sure they've been slammed. 8/10 What I am peeved about is getting a warning ticket on my car from Diamond Parking Service for parking in the lot behind it. No they didn't charge me; it says "warning" but I should have no reason to be warned. I went there, nowhere else, so I don't understand the ticket/warning. For that, I may not return because I don't have time to deal with fighting some overzealous security guard over parking tickets and penalties or worse, being towed for no reason. While in Hawaii, I was so excited about trying out this new bakery that opened up on King Street- on the outside it says "Honolulu Coffee." I got the chocolate brownie croissant, cereal milk croissant, and monkey bread- I also got my mom the lilikoi croissant. My mom LOVED her croissant- which is rare as she does not like sweet things like that. My three were absolutely amazing. The croissants were perfectly flaky while the inside of both were filled to the max with either chocolate or this cereal milk cream. I am a massive chocolate fan so I knew I was gonna love the chocolate brownie croissant but the cereal milk croissant caught me by surprise! It was REALLY GOOD- you just have to try it to see why!!! And the monkey bread had this delicious caramel like topping and the actual bread part pulled apart so easily, I was in heaven eating all of these!! I have been waiting for this location to open ever since the Honolulu Coffee Experience closed because that was my go-to coffee shop...unfortunately, I don't think this will be a suitable replacement for me. First of all there is no real indoor seating, just a few high top stools along a small counter which is fine I guess but all of the real seating is outside. There is a large umbrella/canopy covering the seating out there but I don't think it really cuts it for the heat if you wanted to sit for longer periods to get some work done. The pricing is also a bit steep...I got a coffee and avocado toast and a pastry to go and it was nearly $40. I'm not sure if there was an error at the register but this was even after a discount on my drink. Now on to the good: The coffee is still great as always and the croissants! Oh my god you gotta get the ube chantilly croissant! It was so delicious. I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors (the corn chowder and cereal milk looked amazing as well.) read more

Decided to check out their new location this past Saturday! My friend and I went a little later in the morning around 11am and got to try their corn chowder & lilikoi croissant, the corn chowder had a hint of sweetness to it. I do wish they offered to warm up the croissant so the cheese was more melty. We both got the local latte, $10 for the smaller size is a bit on the pricier side but the taste was pretty good. Let me preface this and say if they were busy, none of this would have mattered to me. I can understand being in the weeds, I used to bartend and serve. But just plain bad service I can't brush under the rug. Was beyond excited for this opening. Didn't want to deal with the crowds on opening. So I waited a couple weeks and went in. Ordered my iced espresso and croissant. Got my coffee and asked for it to be topped off with ice (while holding a cover in my hand) barista was too busy to acknowledge me so I got her attention. She filled the ice over the cup so I couldn't cover it. Ok, maybe she's being generous. Stepped back to wait for my croissant. Noticed 4 new customers order and receive their coffee/pastries. I approach the counter and stand there, I hate interrupting people in the middle of what they're doing. On the flip side my expectations is to be asked if they can help me. Waited for her to make two drinks then I had to interrupt. Asked for my croissant and she gave it to me no apology or acknowledgment. I mean they don't even heat it up. They just grab it from the case. There were two people by the espresso machines talking as if I wasn't standing there waiting for someone to ask me how they can help. It was their grand opening to the general public today. I decided to go and check them out. The instagram feeds from the private grand opening looked good. There is a patking lot behind the building and they give 1 hour validation. I found street parking near by. I joined the line and asked 3 people where the end of the line was. It moved slowly. Not much selection for lunch items more for breakfast. Lots of Japanese tourist and locals. I saw some coupons the cashier had and asked if they had any more for a free crousaint with drink purchase. He said it was mailed to Moiliili residents; so no. I asked if Kamaaina price and again no. I asked what about rewards? I am a member. Again no special. How do I put my email or phone number nothing came up. He had to search and found my account. I asked if any samples? No. Thirty bags given out to first 30 customers. He did find out I had enough points for a discount. So I just ordered an oatmeal raisin cookie and haupia vanilla cold brew. They were both good but looks like lot was full so parking might be a problem. No specials for kamaaina or reward member on public grand opening at this King St. location. read more

Once I saw this place was open I wanted to check them out that following weekend. The location is easy to get to, they have a small parking lot behind the building with free parking for the first hour after you scan their QR code. Upon entering you see a full display of pastries right in the middle of the room. It's a lot smaller than the original Honolulu Coffee company flagship location but they offer a larger selection of pastries at this new place. Everything was very well displayed pulling me into wanting to try everything. I ordered 3 kimchi spam croissants (something unique), 1 vanilla scone, a cereal croissant, plain croissant and a coffee muffin. All the pastries honestly looked better than they tasted. The kimchi spam lacked spam taste, the croissants were light and flaky but lack the buttery taste to be appreciated in a croissant. The coffee muffin was on the dry side which made me sad because it sounded so good. Not all my choices was a disappointment though, I enjoyed their vanilla scone. It has a crisp, crumbly exterior with a soft interior and a yummy vanilla glaze. I would come back for just that. For the drinks I ordered a large oat latte and large peaberry pour over. I use to love their peaberry pour over but it's not as good as I remembered or maybe paying close to $10 for a cup now isn't worth it for me. Ordering was quick but the drinks took a little longer to come out which is to be expected. I was however quite shocked by the bill. I've never actually spent $87 at a coffee place before and wasn't expecting it to be so high for what I ordered. I think had they displayed the price on the pastry tag or on their wall display, I would have held back. Lesson learned but I wonder why they don't display pastry prices. The pasties are on the larger side which accounts for the price so it shouldn't have come too much as a shock. The drinks are also quite expensive for the size offering and more than any other coffee shops I frequent. So if you plan to visit be sure to expect to spend close to $20 for coffee and pastry. As mentioned I would come back for just the vanilla scone and maybe try another pastry if something new is displayed but other than that, I don't know if I would want or should spend that much on coffee and pastry. My friend and I love to try different bakeries that offer matcha after our morning walks so, enticed by the trending instagram videos of the new location of Honolulu Coffee Company, we knew they would be next on our list! While we entered primarily for the matcha, I left knowing that when I return it'll be for their bakery items. Wow...we ordered a variety of items and everything was so delicious. The oat cake was a random craving to which I succumbed...don't be fooled by its unassuming presentation. This baked good is INCREDIBLE. I've already been back for a second! It's very filling so I snack on it throughout the day. Not too sweet, super dense and moistened with raisins and cranberries; it's perfect. We were there on a weekday at about 9am and it was very crowded however, we didn't have trouble finding a seat. I only wished there was more interior seating as it would be nice to sip my coffee with the AC rather than having to venture outside. There is plenty of parking which is fantastic. I LOVE croissants! Love the creative selection and clean ambiance of the cafe with a circular ordering station and backyard dining area. Being a new spot, and going on a Saturday morning, it was busy, the parking lot was full and the line moved along slowly, took a while just to get 2 bakery items, but the guava pie came out heated warm and the Lilikoi croissant in an individual box which might explain the cost $7.85 for a gourmet croissant, C'est La Vie! I really want to love this place. I'm always searching for a great cafe to enjoy coffee & a bite while visiting with friends or doing some work. In the 3 weeks this location has been open I've been 4 times. Ambiance - love it. The outdoor seating is lovely. Covered tables and comfortable chairs. Service - good not amazing but the workers are doing the best with what they've been given. Food - very tasty - BUT OVERPRICED! A pre-made egg salad sandwich in a plastic to go wrap on white bread was $16 - should be $5. Especially when compared to the freshly made grilled cheese on thick rustic bread which was also $16. Go figure. The pastries are a bit over the top - very trendy such as croissants with cereal topping. Maybe just not my taste. I loved the quiche Lorraine but again very pricy. Coffee is their gold star. Excellent flavor and not acidic - very smooth. Tea service - excellent. A pot of hot water is delivered to your table with all the necessary additions. Superb. Logistics - this is where the really miss the beat. The giant menu is all the way inside the shop where you can't read it if there is a line. Once you get to the cashier to order the menu is now behind you. After ordering some items get brought to your table while others are picked up on the opposite side of the cafe. There are no trays to carry your items if you order more than 2 items. Food & drinks all come out at different times. Just very chaotic. The overall interior layout needs a redo!! their coffee is AMAZING however it is extremely pricey. The workers are friendly and work fast as well. However if you're looking for a matcha latte, this is not the place for it! They use ceremonial grade matcha but the prep could be better, I had chunks of unwhisked/unmixed matcha powder in my drink and for my personal preference I like a stronger matcha... this one kinda just tasted like milk. Whoever the gentleman wearing a ponytail (working the outdoor lanai area) is..outstanding service. I was standing at the register waiting to get helped by the two ladies for a while when he finally approached me and asked if I've been helped. He apologized, rang up my order, and went back to the patio. I can tell he's a hard worker who genuinely cares for the guests. I wish I gave him the tips directly. Our first time at this location and we really enjoyed our visit! It was great that they had dedicated parking behind the building and a QR code with 1hr parking for free as well as street parking available all around the block. The atmosphere is laid back and welcoming with indoor bar seats and an outdoor patio with lots of seating. The design is a little weird and confusing, perhaps that is why a lot of people came in and left, while we were standing in line. The display screen is a little misleading, as it doesn't show everything that is available, so if you're a first timer, you'd have to get all the way to the counter to see what is available. I ordered a loco moco and an ube latte, and I asked the cashier ( young man) how was size different, he pointed me for different sizes on the porcelain cup , so I chose the large one of the porcelain cup, and told him I needed an art on the ube latte. After a while, the young man made me a cup of ube latte with paper cup, I asked him why use the paper cup not the porcelain cup, he told me because I ordered the larger one, the porcelain cup was medium size. I didn't know why he pointed me the medium size on the porcelain cup and told me was larger size, and I paid for the larger size price. He said that if you needed the porcelain cup he can make it for me but only the medium size. But I paid for the large size, I didn't want to waste my money, so I didn't change the paper cup. The young man worked careless and no hart to work, and he ruined the art on my ube latte, and his mistake killed my mood for a whole day . The young man need to retraining. I have tried 3x and each time is disappointing :( I wanted to like it so bad! The açaí bowl was mediocre and they charge extra if you want honey. Avocado toast was expensive and disappointing. They don't even use a fresh avocado! It is a premade store bought mash....the arugula and dressing on top was good but not worth the price. Pastries Ive had are too sweet and rich (Lilikoi and chocolate croissant). Each time my coffee tastes burnt and my matcha lacked flavor. I saw the 3.5 star review and said "how bad could an iced oat milk latte be?" only to promptly be shown it can, in fact, be bad while costing $10 in the process. No frills, no extra shots, just espresso oat milk and ice - just ok. To their credit my (easy to please) husband liked his strawberry matcha for $9 and the Keiki hot chocolate ($5.50) was fine for my 4 year old. I wasn't planning to spend $25 for a coffee stop, but it happens. And I do live here, so I know how much things cost. This place is more expensive than superior coffee shops. If they spruced up the patio it would definitely be better ambiance. Inside is clean, well lit with tastefully minimal decor. It's very corporate looking.
