Not to be missed! Food was seriously the bomb for Hawaiian food! Omg so delicious and great value. Restaurant super clean, plenty of seating. Ordered a katsu combo plate and another two combo plate with kalua pork and garlic chicken. We were 2 adults and 2 kids and they even gave us some extra trays since we were sharing the meals with our kids. Everyone in staff was friendly and asked how the food turn out. The Mac salad is really really good. They've been in business 25 yrs. They are open from M-Sat from 11am-8pm. Also do catering and they have another location in St. George, so I told my family who lives down there to go eat there. Glad we have this gem close to home. Exceptional, hands down, the best Hawaiian food I've had, coming extremely close to even some of the small eateries we experienced on Kawaii. The double D delivery guy was on point. That dude had my food packed in an insulated box so when it got here it was still warm. I opened the container and you know when you look at chicken katsu and you can tell when it's overcooked? It was edible and I enjoyed it but I'm looking for my new spot and this is not it. Not in that area much I had heard about this place and decided to give it a try. Utah is known for Polynesian & Hawaiian food I have had some truly amazing and some down right horrible. The staff was friendly and explained some of the options the restaurant was very clean and had an island feel. But the food was the show stopper very generous portions and great authentic taste. The chain restaurants are fine for what they are but the tase and true spirt of aloha is found off the beaten path. They also make all of their food fresh to order, so it can take a bit to get your food. The staff was really kind and offered me some great recommendations. The restaurant itself is located in a strip mall and has plenty of seats and is themed like a classic Hawaiian grill. This location is very inconsistent with their portion sizes and food quality. We have had times in years past where the portions are as expected and tasted delicious. But we have also had times more recently where the portions are much less than normal and items are missing, taste off, or really messy as if they had been thrown into the to-go box (we are not jostling the boxes on the commute home). Katsu sauces are often forgotten so make sure you double check that you have it when ordering for to-go before leaving. Unfortunately, it seems each time we return the food is more consistently disappointing and even when we are the only ones in the restaurant it can take upwards of fifteen minutes to receive food. It is a shame because we used to love this place, but we may need to consider finding a different Hawaiian BBQ restaurant. read more

This genre of food is one that I absolutely love, but often forget about until it jumps out in front of me. Today was one of those days, and I excitedly steered the car into the parking lot to give it a try. The atmosphere is very laid back-it's in a small strip mall and calls itself "The Gathering Place." I saw lots of people come and go, many of them appeared to be friends or family, as they greeted each other and looked comfortable there. You order your food at the counter and then take a seat. It's freshly prepared, then brought to your table. If you get your order to stay or go, it's packaged in styrofoam containers-that's a bummer. I'd love to see them switch to something less harmful to the environment. The food? It's so good! My son and I ordered different things so we could try a variety. He got the teriyaki beef and I got the barbeque chicken. Both were extremely flavorful and cooked perfectly. We paired them with white rice and pasta salad-also delicious. We had plenty leftover to take home for later. I'm already looking forward to eating those leftovers for dinner tonight. read more

The macaroni salad was good but it has a lot of mayonnaise. The service was kinda slow they were having problems with the register . Our food took 15 mins to come out after we ordered it . This is my go-to spot for local kine food in the salt lake valley. The staff are always friendly, and I love that they bring your food to your table. I feel like it would be easier for them to just call your name but it's such a nice touch and I appreciate it. There's plenty of seating and they always get the jamz playing on the speakers. The short rib had good flavor but it was tough and fatty. The garlic chicken was moist and tender with a sweet garlicky sauce. The rice was well cooked though it was packed very hard. The macaroni salad was a little overcooked but luckily not mushy. All in all I found that the flavors were not what I was hoping especially with the short rib and the macaroni salad. We've lived the location a in St. George and were thrilled when they opened up here. Hubby downed the Honolulu burger before I got a photo. Can't wait to go back already! The girls working the counter were suPer sweet and checked on our table a couple times. It can get a little expensive. We got two single plates and one to meet plate, with three drinks. After tip it was about $50. So not the cheapest place but I'm OK with that. Portions are generous as you can see in my photos. The Honolulu Grill in St. George is our first stop when we get there. So we were very excited when we found out there was a Honolulu Grill open in West Jordan. Same great food and great flavors. The best Polynesian Mac salad you will ever get in the state. I believe they make the meal fresh for that salad. Great Kalua pork, great Katsu chicken, great teriyaki beef, great coconut shrimp, great Kalbi ribs. They have custard filled malasadas! Hot, fresh, and amazing! Staff were very friendly. They were careful to check to make sure that what we ordered for our daughter was gluten-free. That goes a really long way in my book. Found this place by accident and saw an 'Open' sign off of Redwood road and just had to go check it out. The ordering process was difficult and the time it took get the food was also difficult. Got my order to go and it took almost 30 minutes to prepare. On the plus side the food was hot and fresh and so delicious! The dessert that I ordered was called custard Malasadas similar to what I had in Hawaii a few years back. They were so hot and tasted so great. So this place isn't that different from the other Hawaiian places. It's a nicer place to be, bright, clean and spacious. They do offer a few things that the others don't, loco moco and malasadas. The meats seem comparable but have yet to try all of them. Note: Shrimp is extra $2.50 on the combo platter even though Laulau and short ribs are the only items listed as being extra. The macaroni salad was good but not any different. I had a hard time hearing that night but I thought the cashier said fry sauce as a side sauce. I found out what she said was rice sauce. I was expecting some soy based sauce like the others. Instead it was more like a thin gravy. Since they were out of malasadas (most of the reason why I came here) I opted for the pineapple cheesecake. It was a standard fair creamy cheesecake. The only special thing was the pineapple topping which had a subtle flavor which was nice, it wasn't too sweet. Back to the malasadas, apparently they get them from somewhere else and fry on-site. Due to this, they're not available on a regular basis so it's hit or miss and perhaps call ahead. Hopefully they'll get this remedied cause having a consistent source of malasadas would be amazing. read more
