This is a great option for a casual sushi night. This is a pay -at-the-counter And bus your own table type of place. The good: The food is really good, everyone in my party enjoyed their meal. The portions are HUGE. I ordered 3 rolls for myself and couldn't get even close to finishing. Much bigger than I expected. Fair prices, easy parking. Everything is made to order by 2 aunties. What a hidden gem I wish I could share with everyone! I love ahi so much and noticed that I have to make a trip to get my sushi or parking is difficult. I've had this place as my bookmark for several months and have finally got to try it! I was so excited because the reviews were all consistent and I recently saw that they were featured on KITV with the fabulous Emi Hart! That means only great things. Located on Keeamoku street, this restaurant is in the lot with Like Like Drive Inn, Tony Moly, Teaspresso, and the old morning glory! If you see Teaspresso Bar, they are the restaurant next to it. Don't be deceived by how it looks, it is a place worth visiting! I was anticipating for the space to be small but when you step into the restaurant, the area is nice and cozy! There are big tables kind of like having poke at a picnic table.. inside! lol There is a huge menu on both sides of the restaurant. I am a visual person, so I appreciated that they had pictures. I am THAT person who has to open the Yelp app to look up pictures, but this is one of the rare instances I used the menu. I was so happy I took a picture below!! The aunty behind the cashier was so kind and was patient while my friends and I debated what to get. I was in a spicy ahi mood so I ordered the spicy ahi nigiri bento ($12.42). My other two friends also got the spicy ahi nigiri bento and a dynamite roll. Normally the sets come with miso soup, but Aunty was so nice and gave all of us complimentary miso soup!! :) We had to wait about 10 minutes for our food, but no problem because when it came out it was perfect! There are also other aunties in the back preparing the food. I'm glad to know that the fish is freshly prepared. I was hungry, but was shy to stuff the spicy ahi into my mouth but once I did I couldn't help but stuff my mouth (literally)!! With my spicy ahi nigiri bento, I got 4 spicy ahi nigiris, 4 pieces spicy ahi uramaki, and 6 pieces of ahi maki. of The mixture of the spicy ahi was perfect! It has a spicy kick to it, which got to me and my friends but that was what made it so good! The fish melts in my mouth. I'm salivating as I am writing this.. I am not one to order rolls because they of size but omg the sizes here are HUGE! My friends shared the bento and the roll and it was the best choice! The shrimp tempura in the center look huge and there was a generous amount of rice around the shrimp while topped with beautifully colored spicy ahi. I was so jealous! Stopped here for lunch after checking on Yelp for a sushi place. Saw it got good ratings, we decided to check it out. The menu is on a board on the wall, and includes photos on the opposite wall. The friendly, competent person at the counter helped us decipher the photos we couldn't quite make out. We decided on the salmon nigiri bento and the unagi sushi bento. Yummm!! My order was the salmon nigiri, which came with tuna roll, a green salad and miso soup. The seaweed on the roll was the correct texture and the rice was perfect in flavor and texture. The fish was fresh and flavorful. It came with a roll that I'm thinking was maybe a California roll. I don't know, but it was tasty as well. My daughter had the unagi sushi bento, and she proclaimed her choice was perfect as well. It is a small, clean shop. When I am in Honolulu again, I will check it out. read more

I ordered doordash and honestly it was super underwhelming. The fish tasted weird, like it had been washed with a weird cleaner. I've bought better sashimi from Costco. The fish to rice portioning was okay, but my biggest complaint was that their doordash menu has zero pictures So when I ordered vegetable tempura, I expected what Ive gotten from countless other restaurants A piece of sweet potato, zucchini or just a solid piece put in tempura batter and fried. This place is soooooo cute! After reading their reviews on Yelp I expected on point sushi but I didn't anticipate the overall adorableness of this little Keeaumoku eatery. Unlike most sushi places which have the same generic look to them, Honolulu Sushi has a mix of shabby chic wooden tables and a giant chalk wall menu. I've wanted to try this place for a while and I did for lunch this week and got the salmon bento. Just not good. Small, thin pieces of salmon with small tired rice under and not a good, fresh taste experience. I didn't finish the salmon roll that came with it. For the price I would much rather have the assorted salmon specialty rolls from Sams Club across the street for a fresher and spicier taste, much larger portion and similar pricing. read more

Met two friends here for lunch, the parking lot is the same as Likelike Drive Inn, there was plenty of parking available. I chose this spot because I wanted to have noodles and sushi. And I was not disappointed I found both items to be on the menu. I got the udon, salmon nigiri, & ikura nigiri with an oolong tea for $18.85. The udon was nice and hot, and hit the spot. The sushi was decent for the $5 & $4 price I paid for two pieces of nigiri. Not the best I've seen but defiantly worth the price I paid. The restaurant is cute. Small seating area inside with benches and cute lawn furniture. I really liked the chalk drawings on the walls. There restaurant was run by two employees, so service was a little slow. Menu: They don't have a big variety of sushi. They have fish like Ahi, Salmon, Hamachi, Unagi couple of other things. I was surprised they didn't serve Ika or Ikura. They do have a lot of items on their menu though! Food: I ordered Hamachi Nigiri Bento, Avocado hand roll, and Hokkigai nigiri. It came with miso soup and mini salad. The fish seemed and tasted pretty fresh (I saw a review saying they served old dry fish..) I enjoyed the Hamachi and the other little rolls it came with. I do have one complaint though. They serve SO MUCH RICE. I picked the avocado out of the handroll to eat it bc it was PACKED WITH RICE. Also I like to eat sushi with minimal rice. I can't live without rice but this was a loootttt. A cozy place with nice people and excellent customer service. They actually get to to know you and I like that a business understands what customer service is. I always have a sushi bento here. The salmon is really good and the ahi poke sushi bento is a great lunch. The portions are on the small side but this is not a high end restaurant serving expensive food. I'm ok with the smaller nigiri portions here, but with the soup and rice in a bento will definitely fill you up. My little go-to place for a quick sushi bite. read more

Didn't have many choices on our first night here so we ordered some take out. Figured since we're in Oahu, there's no way the fish is not fresh. We ordered the hamachi nigiri and a spicy ahi bowl. When we opened our food at home, the hamachi nigiri looked very unappetizing--it was gray/brown in color and frankly looked a bit sick. If you've ever had hamachi before, it's supposed to be white and red. God knows why I still decided to try it, but I did. The Honolulu Sushi hamachi tasted like it was weeks old and left a bad aftertaste even after spitting it out. Spicy Ahi was okay, but it was so drowned in the spicy mayo that all you taste is the mayo. I wasn't going to leave a review initially, but it's just so inexcusable to serve old/spoiled fish for your nigiri especially in Oahu, let alone anywhere. read more

I get angry every time I think of this place ... First this should have warned me but it didn't ~ I purchased two dinners for friends to sample for a Celebration of Life I was preparing for my husband. I did NOT put a tip on the charge receipt but the man who 'helped' me with his machine did ~ a 4.00 tip to hand me the plates for take out! Unfortunately, I liked the presentation of the plates and my friends said the sushi was very good so I went back and talked to the owner about using my own plates which were stronger and reusable which she agreed she would do and gave me the price per plate. Six days ahead of the event I placed my order of 39 plates ~23 Sushi and 16 Chicken along with the 23 oblong plates and the 16 round plates to be used plus a 50% deposit with the understanding the person coming to pick them up would pay the balance in cash. My Celebration of Life was a sunset cruise which was beautiful UNTIL we started to pass out the plates of food...there were 5 plates that were supposed to be used for the chicken dish that were empty! People were offering to give up their plates for others it was so embarrassing. I would NOT recommend this place at all if you need it for a special occasion. ~ I went back to tell them how embarrassed I was not looking for any money back which was never offered anyway. read more

For $10 at Ahi Lovers (downtown Honolulu) you can get a larger bowl, two scoop of spicy ahi, and miso soup. Not much of a value, but I can't fault the flavor of the spicy ahi. Tasted fresh, spicy, creamy; everything you'd want from spicy ahi poke. While I was waiting, had two construction workers eating the Dynamite Platter. That was HUGE and looked delicious.
